Weekend Trip to Bates Farm

We chose the furthest campsite and this land has everything from out in the open sites, to deep woods sites accessible only on foot. Mary & Wayne made sure we found Jessie's by leading us in their four-wheeler. Vast and beautiful landscape and all of it secluded. Plenty of wood to buy from your gracious hosts at great prices - and delivery, too! Mary showed us her love for flowers and they were blooming! Mary also made sure we got out safely since their Archery range was in full action - no accidents will happen here! The other half of this duo, Wayne, set us up with all that any camper would need and we felt safe and completely at peace. and that's why you come here, for the peace!

Weekend Trip to Hidden Acres Getaway LLC.

The property was clean and not directly off of a main road. I think I heard one vehicle the whole time I was there. The owner greeted me and let me know some of the details about the property and then left me to my solitude. Would gladly stay here again.

Incredible spot! Lots of room for multiple tents if needed. Private with amazing views of the surrounding area. Highly recommend! We went after some heavy rains and 4x4 was most certainly required.

Great spot off a country road and very easy to find. Some traffic that goes by but not bad a t all. Plenty of firewood available. The outhouse was a nice luxury to have available. I will be back.

Matthew’s spot is awesome! Very private with plenty of room. The creek is amazing and the sound of the rolling water is great for sleeping. Matthew is a great host and we’ll definitely be back!

Weekend Trip to Bates Farm

Mary took us on a tour of the land and it was truly impressive. We are looking forward to camping here. We are allowed to find anywhere on the 45 acres to put down and set up. They will bring us a picnic table and fire pit and sell us wood since we are on motorcycles. Bath house is on-site!

My family had a great experience here. It was a very peaceful place with little noise. There isn’t much to do on site which might be a problem for anyone that has to have something to do at all times but there are plenty of things to do around town. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a quiet place near the water to chill. My wife and I will likely go back.

I didn't have a chance to completely explore Bates Farm, but what a nice spot with flush toilets, showers, laundry on site, and lots of campsites to choose from. They are really nice and accommodating, and have lots of kid friendly experiences available. Definitely on my 'repeatable stay' list!

2 nights at Sipsey Creek Farm

We had an amazing time at Sipsey Creek Farm! Andrea is the most gracious host and really takes care of her guests! We camped on the primitive site and it was very private and cozy. The indoor kitchen and barn came in handy as some weather moved through and we were able to stay safe and dry. This is the perfect spot to enjoy a safe, quaint camping trip with all the Bankhead trails close by. We will definitely be back!

2 nights at Bates Farm

Very peaceful, lots of land to explore, amenities were good, as were the hosts! We would definitely return, lots of options on where to stay, further away from the bath house if you want more remote, play zone is good for younger children. We were able to play fetch with our dog which was awesome considering most places require them to be leashed at all times.

I enjoyed my stay! Imagine this: Stargazing on a clear night away from the city and noisy campgrounds, followed by sunrise with a mountain as the backdrop. If this sounds enticing to you, then look no further. It’s the perfect spot for any self-contained rig, or tent camper. I will definitely be back!

This is a cave camping experience like no other! We have an outdoor campsite with a large cave you can spend the night in. Spend time around the fire beneath the stars or go below for an unforgettable night below ground. Where else can you go for complete darkness while you sleep? Enjoy a quick tour of our cave & then settle in for a memorable night at Sims Cave Park! We have over 10 acres of nature to roam where you will find your campsite and our cave. Our campsite consists of a Boy Scout wall tent pitched on a platform with a queen sized air matress. A power outlet is available inside the tent. We also have 2 small fans and lights for your use. Next to the tent is a ring for a campfire and a picnic table. The campsite is about 20 yards from the mouth of our cave. The cave has a small gate but opens up to big walking passage once you get down inside. We have a couple hundred yards of big cave that you will have access to. You will get a quick tour of the accessible cave upon check in so that you know the boundaries. We have military cots, as well as big mats and air mattresses available for sleeping inside the cave. We currently have a primitive bathroom (composting outhouse) and showers available. Both of these are about a 100 yard walk downhill from the cave. Parking is also about 100 yards from the campsite. Guests will have access to the cave park grounds. We have a beautifully wooded mountain property with several rocky outcrops. There is also a stream flowing out of our cave next to our big event deck. Guests must remain within the cave boundaries shown to you during your orientation tour. No pets are allowed inside of the cave at any time. We have a small refrigerator available in our check-in cabin that may be used by our guests.

The water level varies throughout the year, usually reaching full-pool from April to July before gradually decreasing for the autumn and winter seasons. Please note the rocky shore near the sun deck, which is why jumping or diving from the sun deck is prohibited. The nearby City of Cullman, located approximately 10 miles away, offers abundant shopping, dining, and entertainment options. Additionally, the city hosts numerous festivals throughout the year, including the Rock The South Music Festival.

This area was called Boot's Bottoms growing up and the name stuck. There is a rock wall close to the campsite that was a old grist mill site. Plenty of wildlife, bird watching, wildflowers and creek walking. Some old ATV trails for hiking as well. Very remote and quite! Learn more about this land: Setup camp on the banks of Dorsey creek in Bug Tussle. Wooded area with shade in the warm season. Flat ground for tents or plenty of trees for hammocks. Easy access for vehicles directly to the campsite. Fire ring with grill grates present for cowboy cooking. Peaceful with plenty of opportunity to see wildlife. Primitive toilet present. Rock dam in creek is great to entertain kids, old grist mill site couple hundred yards downstream. Logging and ATV present for hiking and wildlife viewing. Deeper sections in creek present for cooling off in warm weather.

In some pockets, the air still carries the chill of the earth itself. Beneath the surface runs a deeper story. Long before Huntsville pushed east, Monte Sano offered its elevation to the sick, the curious, and the stubborn. Tuberculosis patients came in the 19th century, seeking healing in the mountain’s clean, dry air. Naturalists cataloged rare plants here. Native peoples traveled and camped across its ridgelines, long before names were given or boundaries drawn. And yet, despite the time that has passed, the mountain remains unpolished—intact. For those who seek true solitude, a few primitive campsites are available through Hipcamp. These are not curated experiences. There are no toilets. No showers. No host waiting with coffee or gear. Just a trail, a flat spot in the woods, and the sound of your own boots on rock. It is camping reduced to its essential form: a place to lie down among trees and stars, with nothing between you and the mountain but time. Monte Sano doesn’t posture. It does not cater. It exists—and that, for some, is enough.

We also host events, so far they are few and small but so much fun!! There is currently one communal bathroom with several more due to be built in the next year or so.
