Heartwood Mendocino

12 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents40 acres · Mendocino, CA
Our property is just minutes from Mendocino's beaches, parks and sweet town, yet private and quiet as it is surrounded by 50,000 acre state forest with world class hiking and biking trails directly accessed from our place. Around the giant redwoods and meadows we have sprinkled in the most amazing little cabins, camp sites and deluxe bath house. We have a great outdoor camp kitchen available for your use. The redwood tree shower must not be missed! This is a very special experience for us to share with you. We are a family of campers. We agree, there's nothing better than a rest in a hammock following a hike or a beach day and a night under the stars without the constant dinging of cell and internet! Guests love staying here: "Such a lovely getaway! Our family of four and little dog thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Heartwood. The cabins are great, with comfortable (warm) beds, very clean and cozy. It’s well worth the visit even in the winter! Really appreciated being outdoors surrounded by Redwoods, hiking the trails around the property, the modern bathrooms with hot showers, and the indoor sitting area to make coffee in the mornings. Our stay was relaxing, memorable and special!"

Many Moons Homestead

3 sites · Lodging2 acres · Albion, CA
Situated on 2 acres, the old farmhouse, where our family lives is said to be one of the very oldest houses in Albion... built in 1865! When we got the place in 2018, it was in pretty bad disrepair and the land was a a jungle of brambles, holly bush, and tons of buried trash. Pregnant and feeling brave (also very naive), we dug into loving up the land and home. Here we are, nearly 6 years later, with a sweet little dude climbing the old plum tree, a babe in arms, a secret garden filled with all kinds of wild and cultivated edible and medicinal plants to enjoy. It makes our hearts really happy to care for this land and we love to share it with folks looking to slow down and connect with this beautiful place we get to call home. We view ourselves as just the current stewards of this beautiful place. This was home to the flora and fauna for hundreds of thousands of years before people, then home to the Pomo people for many generations, then a slew of immigrants and homesteaders, and now us. As our motto goes, This land, home, trees, and forest animals have been here for many moons before us; it's our greatest hope to be worthy stewards to ensure its health and vitality for many more.

Meadow Farm & Forest

9 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents28 acres · Fort Bragg, CA
Meadow Farm is a quiet and creative sanctuary surrounded by the forest. The ocean breezes freshen the air and the pulse of the planet is heard as the surf sounds travel to put us to rest at night.. We are a place for people experimenting with the new old ways to live with low impact and conservation of our precious resources. We offer affordable accommodations, organic gardening, and education on plants and living simply. We welcome your interest in veganic garden and diet, orchards, and forest trails. Our organic vegetables and fruit may be available if you wish to bring some of our farm to your table. Our garden is reduced this time of year but we may still have something to share. We can offer you a quiet and peaceful place without social pressures if you wish to "decompress" from city life, jobs or any stressful times. Or come to the communal fire near the bathhouse for sharing some time with family and the few other campers that may be there. Bringing your own wood is welcome. The coastal bike and hike trails are many. From South of Ft Bragg to the Sand Dunes near Ward Ave. you can travel over 7 miles one way and go down to quiet little beach coves along the way. Meadow Farm is a nonprofit 501c3 with goals of coastal food security, disaster preparation and sheltering, carbon sequestering and forest restoration. We offer native plant tours on or off site with advance notice. We like our dog companions! Two McNab collies, Moxie and Shama live here and may bark at first...still very friendly and social with people and other dogs.. There are several dog friendly off-leash areas such as, Noyo North Harbor Beach, Seaside Beach and dog parks in both Ft Bragg and Mendocino. Our farm is dog friendly tho we wish pets to be kept close, must be neutered and friendly to other dogs and people. Please be sure to bury or bag the waste. Speaking of waste, Meadow Farm strives to reduce waste by avoiding plastic as much as possible, recycling what we can and composting our veggie scraps. Please bring your own waste receptacles and take them along when you go. We take ours to the Caspar Transfer Station which is open Saturday through Wednesday... the location and hours can be found online. Our water is from a deep well and we periodically test it for bacteria. It is cold and delicious. Our irrigation pipes that have spigots and hoses at each camp are safe for drinking, cooking and cleaning. Our solar pump moves water into storage tanks that provide all the water to the farm. It is very important that the water valves on your camp spigot is turned off (gently please) to avoid losing 2500 gallons of water in a short time. If you see a leak or break in a line please contact us immediately. There are also water shut offs for the camps on the west side of the Farm House if you are unable to reach us right away.. When doing dishes we request that you use the strainer to catch food particles from the dish water and toss them in your trash or compost bucket. If you have vegetable waste let us know and we can pick them up for adding to the worm bins or composting piles. We make worm "tea" fertilizer and rich soil from these offerings. No animal products or oil please... a few egg shells are okay. We do have the usual wildlife though we haven't had problems with them. Ravens will raid your camp if food or bags are left out while you are away. From dusk to dawn keep children and pets close. We coexist well here with the critters...and glad to have them. Wishing you a very peaceful and soul refreshing stay at Meadow Farm. Come and allow this natural setting to heal and restore your sense of well-being.

Oz Farm

77 sites · Lodging230 acres · Point Arena, CA
Originally purchased in the late 60's by "Redwood and Savatri", Oz Farm was initially a commune of sorts and is no doubt a very special place...heck, its even got it's own comic book! Here you can pick your poison, as the property is comprised of 7 rustic cabins, redwood campsites, and geodesic domes that would make Buckminster Fuller proud. The working farm is comprised of over 230 accessible acres of flowing meadows, redwood groves, prime agriculture, and is intersected by the beautiful Garcia River, which flows into the mighty pacific. One thing that is very apparent, is how clearly passionate the community at Oz Farm is about ecology and agriculture. Once you step foot onto Oz Farm, you'll begin to understand why.The property is open seasonally and frequently rented by full-camp retreats and events throughout the summer. Individual cabins open to rent one month in advance and are advertised through instagram @villageozfarm

No check-in later than 7pm!! HeLLo High on the top of a mountain, minutes from the majestic California Coast and the quaint town of Annapolis CA, you will discover an Eco-Village and Aquaponics Farm like no other. Your stay here in one of our Yurts in the heart of the Farm allow you to experience Off-Grid Living at its Best. Have a guided tour on a SurRon or a e-bike that you own.. Come with Allen Rockefeller & friend's on a journey threw the MeNdOnOmA redwoods during the season. During the day we can be foraging and learning to do some cool app work & photography tricks of the day as we do some mushroom identification on all the different plants here out in the Mendonoma woods. In the evenings we can either do presentations on what we had found & or (perhaps on Psilocybin, mushrooms of Mexico, or microscopy) For those who want to be in a more serious work shop we have them available. people who would like to bring there own microscopes to the classes would be welcomed. the workshop its self where we look at the mushrooms that we found during the day while your enjoying Happy Hopper Aquaponics Farm. These classes start at $350 per day with options to upgrade to where the foraging could be geared towards different edibles, & or towards everything (could be toxic, cool tiny things, etc) or could also teach photography, both with cell phones and DSLR cameras as a hobbie for some and or for the professionals wanting to get more comfortable using there cell phones... A Yurt is a structure native to Mongolia. A portable round tent, traditionally covered with skins or felt and used as a dwelling by nomads in Central Asia. The structure is comprised of an angled assembly, or latticework, of pieces of wood for walls, a door frame, ribs, and a wheel. Our yurts are just one example of sustainable off grid living structures here at our eco-village & aquaponics farm.. Hello and thank you for checking out our Yurt here in the Redwoods. Happy Hopper Aquaponics Farm wants you to enjoy an experience of a lifetime during your stay. While you are here you will be able to experience an Aquaponics Farm Built Off the Grid that produces food for the local communities and restaurants established here in our community in Mendonoma. This is a healing experience for several with the enjoyment of the rabbits and turkeys and the chickens and oh yeah the duck area could be and enjoyable time for those who need a little animal time and or holding the rabbits or baby chicks and or ducks when the spring time is coming.. Due to the location and uniqueness of our Farm there are a few Rules and Regulations that MUST be adhered to. During you're stay here at Happy Hopper Aquaponics Farm WE PLEASE ask you to respectfully have no fires in the pit areas at this time. No items that can catch fire, which means lit cigarettes, joints and your smokable pipes. Although welcomed, these types of items must be used and stored safely AT ALL TIMES. Out of the reach of children and/or animals. We would like to offer you the opportunity to be able to bring out a propane camping stove and or a Buddy Heater which is something that is really useful for people who like to keep warm. Any other items that you like to use while your camping are welcomed as well. This allows you to enjoy your time here a little more if you wish to be warm and comfy. LoL Another way of keeping yourself warm is to bring your thermals or extra clothing you can layer to keep warm until the sun is out and about around noon. This time of the year the coolness comes from the fog and the changing seasons, Fall and then Winter. With these changes the woods are shedding to get ready for winter as well. The fog usually burns off by noon from here to off the coastline. During the cooler winter months you would be able to have a fireplace roaring and enjoying the woods and the environment around you, especially on a rainy day. The best time to be here to experience a wood-burning stove experience is winter for sure..the lovely smoke of the winter day is awesome and the rain falling on the roof of the Yurt making its own melody while you wake up is something you must experience, at least once for sure. During mushroom season is when we can go foraging for different mushroom 🍄 types and cook them up at dinner 🥘 time. Please feel free to reach out to us at wintertime for info for classes or those lessons that we offer. www.happyhopperaquaponicsfarm.com. Please do not over use the water as we are an Aquaponics Farm self sustained established business here to conserve and use water accordingly. There is a His and Hers sinks available with a toilet and a shower but please this is not a free-for-all to run water as you would in your own home. We conserve water by shutting off the water while you're brushing your teeth, washing your hands & or the dishes or taking a shower. The kitchen cabin is fully stocked with kitchenware and available to you. Please if you do come to stay here and you bring your dog or your cat or pet, they are not allowed on any of the furniture or any of the items in the Yurt.
