But no person should be so self-absorbed that we have completely shut out the importance of being respectfully mindful to the earth and to our fellowman. After all, if we don't have that, what do we have? To be completely transparent, though, the creatives in us also would like it if we inspired onlookers to possibly look at their own space and life a little bit differently. We've personally found it to be so fulfilling to distinguish real desires and needs from the ones we've been groomed to pursue, and then work to make them a reality. We've found it energizing to witness our fellowmen and women pursuing a dream. We'd like to be a stimulating memory along any person's journey. Visiting with us, we sure hope our guests don't expect to find a corporate approach to life here, and that they can appreciate some of our old-fashioned ways. That, as our paths cross, we won't be held to a business-first standard that we have worked hard to remove ourselves from. While here you can enjoy historical tours of Beaufort County’s earliest years of the Santa Helena colony in the mid 1600’s, the revolutionary war period, the pre-civil war and plantation time period and the antebellum, reconstruction history up to the Civil Rights visits of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the Historic Penn Center. The Lowcountry is great for water sports, kayaking, boating, jet skiing, sailing, hiking and canoeing. Each season offers an opportunity to participate in fishing, crabbing, shrimping or digging for oysters in local waters. Our area is a favorite of cyclist groups, the long, flat, rural, scenic, roads offer pleasant riding experiences for cyclist of all ability levels. There are bike lanes on many of the major roads. Other recreational activities in our area are geocaching, horseback riding, tennis, golf, hiking, beach volleyball, beachcombing, and birdwatching. Your site backs up to the Edisto Beach State Park where there are miles of amazing hiking and biking trails running through the maritime forest, and while on the trails you can visit the State Park's Environmental Learning Center to take part in their incredible interactive exhibits and learn about the natural history of the island and it's sea life. You will definitely want to spend time exploring or just relaxing on the beautiful beaches teaming with seashells. If you have a boat, feel free to bring it with you when you come, we are very close to the Live Oak Landing boat ramp where I took the picture of the sunset. As the day winds down to an end you can relax by a campfire or just head inside and kick back and watch a movie from the library of dvd's that are available. The property is across for the Burton wells athletic and recreational complex, a 300 acre county park with baseball, soccer, football, basketball, fitness room, walking trails, biking, a dog park and a playground. Serenity Trails has two R.V spots for dry camping surrounded by pines with a trail that leads to the park. The property is located in a neighborhood off of Joe Frazier Rd, which is where the famous boxer, who was the first to defeat Muhammad Ali, grew up. It is a quiet, peaceful neighborhood where owners enjoy the country life.
