Fieldstone Farm

Fieldstone Farm is a 35-acre property in Warren, Maine. We have been working on restoring the farm infrastructure for the past several years, planting fruit trees and a vineyard in stages, and working on a barn restoration project that will include a creamery for on-site cheese production once finished. Our waterfront campsite is located on a wooded parcel nestled between a rolling farm field and a seasonal cottage. Amenities included in the nightly rental are a 16-foot diameter round Regatta Bell canvas tent set up on a raised wooden platform, with a queen-sized pull-out futon, two additional single-sized futon chairs, and an indoor dining table and stools. Outside, overlooking beautiful Crawford Pond (aka Crawford Lake) is an outdoor kitchen and lounging area with patio table and chairs, umbrella, as well as kitchenware (cookware, plates, bowls, cups, utensils, coffee press, etc.), a gas grill, and firepit. Also onsite is a shed for storing food bins and trash, a solar composting toilet, and a solar sun shower stall. The campsite is just steps away from shared water access with a small beach and space to launch paddleboards, canoes, kayaks, or other similar kinds of watercraft. Friendly dogs are welcome at the campsite and on the beach; however, dogs should not be left unattended at the campsite or on the beach. The lake covers nearly 600 acres, with an 11-mile perimeter, and is 3.5 miles in length. In the middle sits 100-Acre Island, a beautiful piece of land stewarded by the Georges River Land Trust and a great place to get out and stretch your legs if you are on a long paddle or to have a picnic. In general, this is a delightful setting for swimming, floating, fishing, and paddling among the loons and other wildlife that this water body is home to. The campsite is a short drive to a number of terrific hiking trails that are part of the Georges Highland Path, a 70-mile network of trails, and the St. George River Canoe Trail. It’s also just 20 minutes to Camden Hills State Park and downtown Camden, and 18 minutes to Rockport or Rockland. There are many excellent restaurants and art galleries in these coastal towns, as well as opportunities to get out on the ocean and enjoy our coastal beaches or catch a ferry for a day trip out to explore one of the iconic islands offshore. It is quiet, cozy and a wonderful place to watch the sunset overlooking grazing animals. The cabin has a queen bed in the downstair bedroom and another double bed in the loft. The couch in the sitting room also folds-out to a double bed for the children. We use high-quality cotton sheets, pillows and down comforters - to assure you will be cozy and feel pampered. We provide coffee/tea service in the morning in our farm store. By reservation, we serve a full country breakfast ($14/pp) and four-course farm-to-table dinners with many ingredients from our farm ($65/pp). Your Maine island (accessible by bridge) “hideout” awaits in our off the grid 1860s barn on a former saltwater farm with acres of field, forest, and a private beach to explore. The barn remains very much as it was over 150 years ago- with all the gaps, cracks, leaks and yes, spiders and probably an inquisitive red squirrel! Kind of like living out your Laura Ingalls Wilder dreams…or if, when you were a kid, you always wanted to make a club house or hideout, and stay there! We are at the south end of the island, so it’s 15-20 minutes to Wiscasset for groceries and restaurants. But: See the stars as never before, fall asleep to the sounds of nature, watch the deer graze, spend an afternoon in the hammock in the woods by the beach, or relax on your private patio. Hideout207 provides a grill and French Press, tented outdoor toilet with sink, and a fully tented queen bed. Please note that the front of the barn faces the back of my house, but the patio area is completely out of view from the house. The beach is accessible by a winding path through the woods. Next to the shore, you’ll find the hammock, table and chairs set up with beautiful views. Explore the tide pools, bask in the sun on a rocky perch, watch lobster boats hauling traps, and enjoy one of those lobsters by the beach! In addition to the trail on the property, Westport Island has several beautiful public trails. Sasanoa Brewery and Lulu’s barn (alpacas and yoga!) are great places to visit while you’re on Westport. I’d say Hideout 207 is glamp-ish… The barn retains its rustic charm, decorated with original farming tools, fishing gear, and the odds and ends that have wound up in the barn over the past 160 years. Inside you’ll find a comfortable sitting area, bed, and table. The patio offers views of the woods, field, and water. It is very much a barn though- so despite the giant screened in doors to keep the mosquitoes out, the comfy queen mattress is completely enclosed with a mosquito net tent, along with few more layers of netting. Practical -and a little romantic!

Bridgton town center offers many close amenities, including Standard GastroPub, Black Horse Tavern, Nectar Juice Bar, Bavarian Chocolate Haus, Bear Bones Beer and Magic Lantern Theater. As well as a grocery & a pharmacy store. There is plenty of dining and shopping in North Conway (outlet stores, alpine slides, water park, ski areas and more), which is only 20 miles away.
