The view from the cabin was lovely! We took the short cut there and the regular trail back, the short cut is definitely shorter but very steep! It was so peaceful and quiet there. The cabin was well kept and clean. Thankful for the wood stove, because it was quite cold and wet when we got there, once heated up it was very cozy. Definitely will be back again!

Beautiful cabin! More spacious than I imagined with the high ceiling and porches really expanding the space. Plenty of firewood and potable water available. Cozy in all the right ways. Easy to get to local preserve for hikes, nearby towns for some antiquing. Such a perfect spot.

2 nights at Moose Hill Cabin

This was an awesome find, The train was really fun to watch!!! I loved the cabin it was sooo cute, really fun time :)

Great place. Heavier than you may think to lug everything in so be prepared. Be careful about signage. We walked half a mile up hill in freezing rain for the Joe and Doe cabin but it was the wrong way.

Two Dog was snug for our one cold windy night stay. We wondered what supplies would be there so in case it's helpful for others, noting that some things were clearly just leftovers, so depends on who precedes you: plenty of dry wood for the stove inside (reload the supply from the nearby woodshed before you leave), an old-school can-opener, a roll of TP, foam mats for the sleeping loft, a broom, a box of matches, a few sheets of newspaper, a fire extinguisher, a water kettle, a few DIY pegs and nails for hanging gear/lights, many decks of cards, a cribbage board, guestbook, a low table, two chairs, and a bench on the front porch. Outside is a fire pit, picnic table, and pit toilet. The stove was easy enough to use and did a good job of warming the space, but there's plenty of opportunity for cold air to come through the cabin. We brought water from home and glad we did - looked like the year-round hand pump at the Barn was out of order when we passed. Recommend bringing fire starting supplies, either your own tinder or a small axe bc wood provided is just big logs. If you're there during warmer weather, there are good trees for hammocks.

Mathew is a great host and steward of the land. I had a great stay and the yurt and property were just as described. Mind you, you are completely off the grid so treat it like tent camping and come in prepared. Leave it better than you found it.

The Pond Cabin is a sweet spot in a beautiful, mixed hardwood forest on the edge of Little Dyer Pond. The wood stove kept us warm and cozy. The Barred Owls hooting at night was a special treat.

Kids and I had a fantastic time! The cabin is beautiful and the woodstove provided plenty of heat, even in February. We'll be back!

Sadie’s cabin is cozy, quiet, well stocked, and in a beautiful part of the world. My only regret is that I brought too many of my own books to read- here’s are much more interesting! The best is super comfy and the fire really warms up the place. We look forward to coming back in different seasons!

We had an absolutely amazing experience at John’s property, even in the freezing winter! The land itself was gorgeous, offering a peaceful and scenic escape despite the cold. What truly stood out was John’s incredible attentiveness—he went above and beyond to ensure our group was comfortable and well taken care of. Before our arrival, he plowed the snow for us and even personally escorted us to the campsite, which we really appreciated given the extreme temperatures. The porta potty was clean and well-maintained, making our stay even more convenient. While water wasn’t available due to the freezing conditions (understandably so), everything else was well-prepared, and we had a fantastic time. We’d love to revisit when the weather is warmer and fully enjoy everything this beautiful property has to offer. Highly recommend this campsite and John as a host!

Weekend Trip to Slippery Rock Trails LLC

I booked this hipcamp SUPER last minute, due to some rearrangements that couldn't be worked through with our first planned hipcamp. John was so accommodating and prompt with checking that the heat in the tiny house was working before he approved the booking in case it wasn't and we couldn't stay. well it was working, and we found the little gas powered fireplace to be so soothing and cozy. I have to give John kudos as well for taking his snowmobile and making us a path to sled with as well as bringing us sleds to borrow! my partner and i are full grown adults and we had the best time sledding down that hill. it was hard to walk back up (we are aging) but it was so worth it. we will definitely be returning!

Stuart Little’s dream house is an off-grid cabin on the edge of the woods, in the backyard of our home. The cabin is perfect for people who are camping, but want a little more accommodation. Hello! Thank you for looking at our listing! You will not be disappointed in this small campground with only 4 primitive tent sites and 2 tiny cabins. It's so peaceful and the tranquility will not take long to make you so relaxed, you will not want to leave. The sound of song birds in the morning with your cup of coffee is exactly what we need along with the sound of the water from the creek and/or pond. You can plug in with our free WIFI or unplug and enjoy the surroundings. Sebec Lake is a 5 minute walk from the campground and there are pontoon rentals at the bottom of the hill. There is a yoga instructor on the lake that will do paddle board yoga in groups of at least 5. We offer several board games, as well as outdoor games. We have been working on creating a playground for the young kids. There is 1 Kayak for rent here and working on more. We offer hammocks for use and have already put the hangers in the trees. We recently added hot showers and flushing toilets (although we still keep some portable potties around in case the bathroom is occupied).

Loon Point Cabin and Camp Site

This cabin was built by the original owners in the 1960's as a temporary shelter. They never got around to building a more permanent dwelling and instead used it for many years as a rustic camp site. We purchased the land and the cabin 10 years ago. Rather than tear down the old cabin we began rehabbing it 2020 to enjoy ourselves and share with others. We were in the process of building a new modern camp on the property but had a major fire there in the fall of 2022 totally burning the new house and the surrounding trees. We are in the process of cleaning that up but you will se the evidence of the fire when you arrive. Fortunately it will not affect your experience at the cabin. We love this location and we think you will too. Learn more about this land: Enjoy the privacy of a rustic cabin 10 feet from the shore of Amabjejus Lake. Take in gorgeous sunsets on this west facing waterfront looking across the lake to the historic Ambajejus Boom House. Listen to loons at night and see bald eagles flying overhead during the day. The cabin is furnished with a full size bed and a toddler bed, a table and 4 chairs. A mattress pad and fitted sheet will be provided but you will need to bring your own linens or sleeping bags and pillows. There is a picnic table, fire ring and a tent site for up to a 4 person tent. There is an outhouse which you will share with the owner if present. This cabin was built in the 1960's by the original landowner to be a temporary shelter. We purchased the land 10 years ago and are in the process of building a larger camp on this 1 acre property. You will have your own private waterfront area. There is a also a small sandy beach and a swim dock that you are welcome to use but may share with owners if they are on the property. Canoes, paddles and lifejackets are available to use. The southern entrance to Baxter State Park is only 10 miles away. The owners will be sensitive to your privacy but may be working on the property nearby during your stay. Guests are limited to 4 people. We love children and have 5 of our own. If you are a couple with more than 2 children (or a single parent with more than 3) please contact us. We would love to accomodate you if possible. One final note. In November 2022 we suffered a fire to the main structure that we were building on the property. As a result campers who come in 2023 will see a foundation and evidence of burned trees around the location of the burned building. The cabin and surrounding area suffered no damage and there will be no change to the appearance and view of your stay except going to and from your vehicle. The Wakefield Wildlife Sanctuary was generously bequeathed to the Kennebec Land Trust in November 2016 upon owner Kendra Wakefield Shaw’s passing. Its 108-acres feature historic cabins and 4000 feet of frontage on Cobbossee Stream in West Gardiner. The property’s coniferous and deciduous woods, vernal pools, and marshlands are important habitat for many species of birds, mammals, and plants. In 2018, the Maine Cabin Masters renovated two of the stream-side cabins, which now serve as rustic getaways for Hipcampers and the like. A small dock and canoes are available for use on the wide and deep flatwater stream! *NEW 2024 - A dock has been added to cabin 2, so each cabin now has it's own private dock. Treeyurt

It started years ago my sister and I stayed in a yurt at a campground in Oregon. That was it. I was hooked so I got one. There is something magical about staying in a round structure in the trees. My love of nature and comfort drove me to create this special place to be able to share it with others. My TreeYurt is a platform built high in the trees so it essentially like a treehouse but with a yurt instead. It is located in the back part of my property surrounded by woods. In the spring there is a small stream running nearby and soon to come a bridge over to the fairy village. The land is somewhat sloped yet comfortable. There are apple orchards nearby and many hiking trails a short distance away as well as Portland a mere 15 minutes. The kitchenette has a small fridge a coffee maker a cook top with two burners pots pans utensils and kitchen towels as well a propane grill outside. There is a wood stove for heating in the winter as well as a monitor heater that makes it very cozy for chilly nights. The yurt is insulated so it is a great year round glamping adventure. I provide fire wood for the wood stove inside but the camp fire wood for the outdoor fire pit is $5 per bundle. The outhouse has a dry flush toilet and instructions at located in the yurt and out house. There is no running water although recently added an outdoor sink for the warmer months is available for use for dishwashing and a bit of cleaning up. I provide gallons of drinking water and dishwashing water for the colder months inside the yurt with dish tubs sponges and soap.

Our cabin is an off grid post and beam structure that we built 8 years ago. It's has a full kitchen, wood stove, and screened porch. There are jugs provided for doing dishes etc and a large (150 gallon) tank outside for refills. There are a generous supply of lanterns (both battery and inflatable solar) flashlights and string lights for lighting. This is a small two story timber frame cabin off grid and secluded deep in the woods. It has a separate outhouse as well as shower stall to use the solar shower bags in. The cabin has a king sized bed in the loft with a child size fold down bunk above it; there is also a pull out couch on the first floor. As well as a kitchen, screened in porch and fire pit. Linen, dishes and utensils are not included please bring all that you need. There is a propane 4 burner stove with oven and solar shower bags. Trash and campfire wood is included. We are very busy with kids and work, we try our best to clean and re-supply between guests but it is not always possible, please let us know if something needs attention!

Option to take the canoe across Chicken Mill Pond and walk from there. -14 minute drive to the Schoodic Marine Center, where you can take a ferry to Bar Harbor for the day and catch a ferry back. While on the boat, look for wildlife such as seals, harbor porpoise, bald eagles and other waterfowl. Arriving in Bar Harbor, enjoy shopping, restaurants and other in town activities. -Cycle down the 29 mile Schoodic National Scenic Byway. -17 miles to Schoodic Peninsula and the famous Schoodic Point, where you can catch amazing ocean views. -5 minute drive to Prospect Harbor Lighthouse. Places to eat: The property is located a short drive from scenic Winter Harbor, which has a variety of locally owned restaurants. It's also only about a 25 minute drive to Ellsworth, which also has multiple eating options and grocery stores. Bar Harbor is only about 40 minutes from the property as well, which boasts some amazing eateries, shops, and other activities. NOTE: This site is fully off-grid and requires walking approximately 3-4 minutes on a forest trail from the parking area to get to the site. All equipment must be hand-carried in. Dancing Lawn

When we first purchased our property, we were made aware of a young fella needing a spot to set up his yurt. He lived with us for two years before moving along. We had enjoyed having him and his yurt on our land so when he left, It left a virtual and metaphorical hole. A couple years later we had an opportunity to purchase a yurt from an outdoor adventure company and so it began. We improved upon our tenant's idea by adding a proper outhouse and outdoor shower area. The space offered us a quiet haven during hectic times and now we are ready to share that opportunity. Our yurt sits on a quiet and private nook on our 7 acre property. We are right in between Kennebunk and Biddeford so there are quite a number of areas to explore if you make us your home base. It is a lovely 6 mile ride to Goose Rocks Beach or you can spend an afternoon walking around Dock's Square in Kennebunkport. Biddeford is a rapidly rebuilding mill town that has made several high profile food and travel publications for its great dining spots. If you are visiting to get away from the city, we are less than a mile away from the Eastern Trail which connects South Portland to Kittery, ME. Bring a bike or plan a quiet walk. This is the perfect opportunity to explore on a budget and test out your wilderness skills! The Adventure Begins Here... Camp Wild at Bobcat Rock is on 21 Acres of sloped, unspoiled woodland. There is a small brook that runs through the property and a seasonal run-off during heavy rain. There is a stone wall that borders the north end of the property. Land around the property is protected so there are many birds, ponds and streams. Hiking trails are right outside your door. Natural water sources do not have spigots. If you choose to use the natural water source for drinking, all water should be treated! This is a wilderness area. The TREE TENT is 13x 13 x 13 and sleeps 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 small children. The tent is 4 feet off the ground. You will need to lift yourself into it. Please remove shoes before entering the tent. THERE ARE NO AMENITIES This is a dry campsite. There are no showers or toilets. There is an outhouse and a 5 gal PROPANE shower. (You will need a small canister of propane). 5 gallons of water is provided. There is a very large pot for boiling water if needed. There is a fire ring with a grill, a picnic table, 2 reclining camp chairs, a Gazebo, and a Tree Tent. A trolly is provided to carry your belongings as it is a short hike uphill to the site. No cooking or sleeping supplies are available. You must bring your own bedding, cooler, cooking utensils, wood and small propane canister. (We have sleeping bags if you forget your own and a spare mattress for the gazebo upon request). ***PLEASE LEAVE NO TRACE AND TAKE YOUR TRASH WITH YOU*** It is recommended to arrive before dark on your first night of camping. Campsite check in from 12:00 pm on arrival day. Check out time 11:00 am on departure day. Bug spray is highly recommended. Bring a flashlight. The campsite is on a hill and is very rough, uneven ground and there are protruding rocks and tree roots. Please use caution when walking around the property. Turtle Marsh- secluded wooded site.

Great synchronicity led us to the wild 30 acres of marsh and woodland that is Turtle Marsh. In addition to making a home here, we dedicating the area as a sanctuary for the quiet enjoyment of nature, eco-spiritual practices and healing. Guests may elect to experience a daily hour-long "Ecospiritual Immersion" walk as part of their stay. These will be led by Ecospiritual Guide and "Wild Mind, Wild Heart" author, Peter Wohl. He has led ecospiritual workshops and retreats for over 20 years. There is a network of trails on our property for enjoying quiet, contemplative walks. In the evenings, weather permitting, there will also be an opportunity for an informal campfire discussion with Peter. There is an additional fee for the walks and campfires. There are several trailheads for the Hills to Sea Trail within a mile of our property. The quintessential New England waterfront town of Belfast on Penobscot Bay, is less than 30 minutes away. One of our favorite spots for quiet hikes along the shore of the bay, is Sears Island. It is one of the largest undeveloped islands on the east coast, that is connected to the mainland by a causeway. The island is 50 minutes away and even on the busiest summer days, its's usually possible to find a quiet spot on the shore to sit and reflect. As we continue to deepen our relationship with this land, we are trying to follow the principles of Deep Ecology in all of our interactions. Our tentsite, while only a 5 minute walk from the road, has been sited to offer as much solitude as possible, with minimal disruption to the surroundings. In spite of being nestled in the woods, no trees were cut to prepare this relatively accessible site. We believe that it still offers a very tangible sense of wildness and solitude. Once owned by the namesake of the access road to the property (Tolman Lane), this property consists of over 130 wooded acres which provides a quiet, secluded getaway to reset your clock and melt the stress away. Off the grid-no electric or running water. Cell service is adequate. 1 gallon of fresh well water provided for drinking and 10 gallons for washing/cooking. Bring your own linens for a queen size bed, twin bunk beds and a full pull out couch. 2 pillows are supplied with a pillow protective cover and pillow case which are washed after each guest. Pots, pans and utensils, are onsite which are washed between campers; trash bags, compost bags, paper towels, dish soap, dish towels and a 2 burner propane stove(green canisters needed) and an older propane table top grill are provided. Camp fire grill on site if you prefer cooking over open flame. There are some battery operated light switches and solar lights in the camp and outhouse. Casino, race track and breweries for night life. Oxford Hills has much to offer.
