Weekend Trip to Parson’s Landing

We had a great time at Elliott’s place! Exactly what we expected. Porta John was clean and much appreciated. We enjoyed taking the kayaks out on the water. We were prepared for bugs, but not many at this time of year. Wonderful time and highly recommend!

Overall, I loved my time there. I stayed a week and it was as relaxing and as stress free as I could have asked for. The land is overall beautiful, you have a ton of space available to you and best is that they only rent to one group at a time. I went by myself, but had my best friend, my mother's dog and even my mother come to visit and there were no issues with people coming and going. The land owner, Scott, was very nice, as was his daughter and two dogs. The only slight negative was that the wood provided was very, very old. This is good when you're starting a fire, but it evaporates quickly. The fire pit has cinderblocks allowing for additional airflow, which is a plus. In fact, the cooking was quite easy overall. And I did have to purchase my own outdoor toilet and privacy tent, but I saw no one while I was out there so it was no big deal. Consider this is you're someone who needs to shower daily, They will also provide you with (I think) a five gallon jug of drinkable, washable water. To top it off, the price just right. My last campsite was the same price, but overall worse (sloped ground). I loved the peace and tranquility I found there and I hope that you don't book up too much time here because I want to go back sooner than later.

Great Stay! Would definitely come back. The owners of the property are very friendly and organized. They have a beautiful farm and the site was perfect for looking at the night sky.

Pretty good, went into it having seen what it mentioned about being a primitive site, so no toilets or showers. I tent camped for 2 nights. Two dogs came up to greet me while I was packing up which was pretty nice. It really is somebody’s backyard but it’s big and wooded enough for privacy.

The site was lovely! It felt private and the portapot was very clean. Our dogs loved roaming the yard and sniffing out the fresh deer and fox prints in the sand. Looking forward to coming back in the summer to get out on the water. Cambridge is a cute little town not far away for yummy drinks and holiday festivities. We also took a drive down to hooper island and enjoyed cruising through the sleepy coastal villages. Thanks for having us!

Amazing camping spot right on the bay… We were there just before thxgvn after a long dry spell… so there were not mosquitos or flies to worry about… but it seems that is the general theme. We camped in a 25’ travel trailer and had no issues pulling in and setting up. Super flat site.

Centrally located. 40 minutes to green line metro. 18 to downtown Columbia. Stayed while visiting family over Thanksgiving. Will definitely consider staying at this location again. Seen some deer, room to unleash the pups and pleasant host.

The site was beautiful, and there was so much room. The hosts were super nice. Especially when they realized we had a vehicle with the hood open and he showed up with a jump starter! Exactly what we needed. The kids especially loved playing in the creek even though it was November and not really warm. We will be back for sure.

Angela and Erin were so gracious in sharing this gem of a loved working family farm. 25 minutes from Frederick, I had the best of both worlds - feeling fully welcomed onto their land and getting the respite I needed away from media and the 2-leggeds last weekend…. And I could easily pop back home for a shower between jaunts around the country. Stargazing at night was an objective - as well as to learn about life in Frederick county (today and over the generations). And my word! is there so much to learn! One of the many new bits of knoweldge gleaned - some of my Common Market coop produce were probably sourced right here. I hope to come back to recharge again. I feel graced to have spent a cpl nights here and have told so many friends and fam about Hawkwood and Meadow lands. Yep - I beyond highly recommend.

Button Farm

If your neighbor can hear your music it is too loud. If your host can hear it, you will be asked to turn it down or off all together. -This is a pack it in, pack it out site. This includes food waste, dog waste, and any garbage produced. Please respect that :) DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BURN ANY WASTE IN THE FIRE RING BEFORE CHECKING OUT. -There is NO FISHING, kayaking or boating. Go for a swim and float, no prob! But please float in the vicinity of your camp, so as not to disturb other campers. - Lastly, please do not invite visitors to your campsite. If it's been dry, single wheel drive is fine, but if we get a hard rain the day before or during the stay, I'll possibly be pulling you up the hill a short distance to exit. There is evidence of civil war activity here and the old river ford is on our property. Creek and river access make this a beautiful, peaceful place that is full of life. The energy here is overwhelmingly positive. Our house was built in the 1850s and the neighboring farm was built shortly after—lots of history on this property. You will be able to camp right next to Glade Creek which is always cool, clean, and refreshing. Our goal with opening the land up for camping is to eventually phase out commercial farming on the property and transform it into woodlands using native plants and trees. We've already started by planting hundreds of native tree species along the creek and river banks. Each camper gets us closer to that goal! Thanks for your support! Welcome to creek-side camping on our picturesque 16 acre farm! Here are a few ground rules to help with your stay -PLEASE READ SO NONE OF THIS IS A SURPRISE-: -Dogs are permitted if they are friendly and are trained well enough to listen and stay at your site. Again, they must stay at your site unless walking with you on a leash. If your dog inflicts damage to the sites (digging holes, chewing up piles of sticks, chewing up toys to bits etc. please clean up after your dogs. We will provide shovels, rakes if you need!) - OVERLANDERS: You can bring your overland camper if you want, but you must park your vehicle in the parking spot across from your site at sites 1-3. It is a safety issue to block the entryway/exit lane. Site 4 is large enough to accommodate your vehicle and these rules do not apply there. -This is a place for relaxation and reflection by the creek. No loud groups, or partying allowed. If your neighbor can hear your music it is too loud. If your host can hear it, you will be asked to turn it down or off all together. -This is a pack it in, pack it out site. This includes food waste, dog waste, and any garbage produced. Please respect that :) DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BURN ANY WASTE IN THE FIRE RING BEFORE CHECKING OUT. -There is NO FISHING, kayaking or boating. Go for a swim and float, no prob! But please float in the vicinity of your camp, so as not to disturb other campers. - Lastly, please do not invite visitors to your campsite. This is an insurance issue, no exceptions. If you want friends and family to experience our beautiful spot, please have them sign up and book a site, wouldn't that be more fun anyway!? Western Maryland
