It is important to note that there is no poison oak or poison ivy around the area. It is a wonderful place to really explore. Just 15.4 miles east of Ashland on highway 66 then 9 miles on a slow dirt road. The drive is absolutely part of the experience, slow down and enjoy the views. As you drive up hwy 66 the views of the valley below are absolutely incredible, then you come to the dirt road. This is a very slow drive due to the condition of the road, it is part of the Cascade-Siskiyou National Monument and poorly maintained. **Important** The last section of road to get to this pristine and secluded forest location is a 9 mile dirt road with bumps, rocks, and a many washouts that bring you to a near stand still. 4 wheel drive is strongly recommended. Low clearance cars not recommended.

Crater Lake Private Woodlands

We are located in southern Oregon near Crater Lake NP, just off of hwy 62, part of the Rogue-Umpqua Scenic Byway, more commonly known as the "highway of waterfalls" and near the little town of Prospect on what is known as the beautiful side of Crater Lake NP. Three waterfalls, the Prospect Cafe, and the Historic Hotel are all within a two-mile radius. If you're after that famous pie at Beckie's Cafe, you are 10 minutes close. Our 100 acre ranch allows us to host guests in their own RV's, at camp/tent sites, or in our new A-frame Cabin all located in private, and even secluded, sites. Several well maintained trails wind throughout the property and can be enjoyed by guests. Nature enthusiasts enjoy the hiking, wildlife viewing, and the beautiful ponds and woods. Crater Lake Woodlands is part of the historic Katydid Ranch. Once owned by Boise Cascade who used it both for growing seedlings to replant logged mountain sides and as a vacation getaway for their executives, the story of Katydid Ranch goes back to the early 1900's when it's owner named "Katy" used it as the "half-way" overnight lodging for horse & buggy guests traveling to Crater Lake from the Rogue Valley. Leaving the valley at the crack of dawn, they could arrive at "Katy's" by nightfall, in time for a meal and sound mountain sleep. They'd hitch up at dawn and make it to Crater Lake by nightfall. Historically, the first residents were the Rogue River Takelma and Latgawa native Americans. Latgawa lived in the Rogue Valley of interior southwest Oregon. In their own language "Latgawa" means "those living in the “uplands," though they were also known as the Walumskni by the neighboring Klamath tribes. Specifically, Ha-ne-sakh. The Latgawa were one of two peoples who spoke the Takelma language. They were hunters, gatherers, weavers and fished the Rogue River. They were known to have a stationary settlement and trading post at the Katydid Ranch location. Their tribes lived in the upper Rogue River area extending beyond Prospect and Union up to Crater Lake. Since we've owned the Ranch, we've maintained the custom of welcoming overnight guests and at the same time, we continue to honor the protected wildlife designation given to it back in the 50's. Wildlife viewing is one the delights we share with our guests. Please be mindful of native wildlife keeping dogs on leash so as to avoid chasing and barking at wildlife. Thank you. The animals here include, but are not limited to black tail deer, elk, fox, coyote, ringtailed cat, raccoon, skunk, and also typically farther up the mountain are the elusive mountain lions and black bear which we have never spotted on our property. The ponds and surrounding area are home to migratory to the Oregon Pond turtle, Canada geese, quail, wild turkeys, various owls including the great horned owls, hawks, cranes and eagles. Our pond bird watcher friends spotted Common Mergansers, Ring Necked Ducks, Canada Geese…and a Loon. The bull frogs orchestrate the evening and can be heard at times throughout the day. Katydid Ranch is a wildlife sanctuary. The flora and fauna of the forest is abundant and diverse. This land is home to many native grasses, ferns, and berries, wild flowers, as well as many other edible and medicinal plants and numerous varieties of mushrooms. If you are visiting during blackberry season, feel free to pick, pick, pick and indulge. Katydid trees include old growth Douglas Fir, Ponderosa, Sugar, and Jeffrey Pine, various Cedar tree varieties, Incense Cedar, the majestic Pacific Madrone, Alder, Big Leaf Maple, Black and White Oak, Dog wood, and Vine Maple. Mindful Earth Farm is a multi-family intentional community located on a six acre certified organic and biodynamic permaculture farm outside of Ashland Oregon. Keep in mind that you may encounter bugs, coyotes, deer, and some nearby farming activity during your stay. Our communal camping area features level ground, fire pit, potable water spigot, camp toilet, and a picnic table. Well-behaved dogs are welcome but must be leashed or kenneled on the property—feel free to let them off-leash on the adjacent public lands. Owners are available to provide information and maps for hiking and outdoor recreation activities. Enjoy stunning views of Mount Shasta from your campsite, with seasonally flooded fields adding to the picturesque scenery. Welcome to adventure in far north Siskiyou County! Firebird Ridge presents a fantastic secluded yet convenient camp station in a beautiful semi-wild setting with huge open sky views over 50 miles of the Klamath River canyon and Siskiyou Crest. Just 10 minutes off the freeway, a variety of simple yet thoughtfully laid out low impact sites afford comfy car and tent camping or smaller RVs and vans, with ample privacy. Small to medium size (5-15p) groups may combine sites and enjoy some shared space and amenities, please inquire. At an elevation just under 3000 feet, the Ridge enjoys sunny skies and comfy temps, with cold nights and hot days in winter and summer respectively. This is a drier climate between May and October, meaning some fire risk and potential smoke impacts for area forests, although the mountainside location generally offers clean fresh air with stunning sunsets and excellent stargazing! The land contains over a mile of scenic trails with rock features, old "bonsai" oak trees, native plants and wildflowers in a landscape undergoing restoration to healthy fire resistant condition. Wildlife abounds, mostly the friendly sort however visitors should be mindful to avoid unwelcome encounters, and any small children or pets kept under close watch. Your host can address questions or concerns. Count on fair to good cell service, wifi and power are centrally accessible too. Activity and development on site are minimized to enhance the natural habitat and ambience. Guests are advised to minimize disturbance of other occupants and lifeforms. It's fine to have fun and make some intermittent noise but disruptive or damaging behavior will be curtailed. This extends to the neighborhood as well, especially on the road in/out where it's important to keep your speed (dust, noise etc) DOWN in the vicinity of houses. The property is not a park, playground, or big backyard, in fact probably not much like anyplace you've been...prepare for a novel experience! A good mix of curiosity, care, humility and attentiveness will go a long ways toward making your initial stay here satisfying and smooth. Come as a guest, not a customer - and find yourself at home in the wild! Youth visitors are welcome but must be supervised and receptive to guidelines. This location is not set up (yet) for people with mobility challenges, or people with no prior wilderness experience.

Room to roam, fresh water April through September and easy access to a common electricity plug-in where you can charge your cell phones and air mattresses on the electric pole by the entry gate. Experience the peace and quiet (except for the frogs) on this beautiful property. Each site includes a private secluded space to set up camp, we include running water and a fire pit. We provide the first night of firewood with more available for purchase. We are all about peace and respect for the land and each other on Thrive Ranch. Please be expecting to exist in the same type of space while here. No loud music or huge ruckus'. If you have the need to create a space for a larger group where you can celebrate and make some noise just let us know, we can probably accommodate with special arrangements and at a different location on the property. No road noise at all, we are out here and the only thing you will hear at night is bugs and frogs. Maybe a moo or two occasionally during grazing season. We named all our sites after past and present pets that we hold very dear to our hearts. It was that or some kind of hairy fairy names that you hear everywhere else like serenity or solitude.....blechh... We have a stream that flows year round, a 10-12' sheet waterfall with a swimming hole and a glorious 100' waterfall to hike to, stand under or just sit and enjoy. We have a pond that we are currently developing as a contributing recreational space. We are adding value at a very rapid pace and will be adding to the description as we do. If you book a month out don't be surprised if we have added an outdoor kitchen. Our real toilet outhouses have been added to 3 of our sites. So much cool stuff to do on a really magical property. We want to share so come enjoy. Not one of our campsites are in view or proximity to the others. Very private and lots of solitude. We (as hosts) can be as present or invisible as you like. Access to miles of trails and roads on BLM/Forest Service land for hiking, ATV's, motorcycles and off-roading. Please know to explore responsibly and at your own risk to preserve the land and keep yourself safe. You are also welcome to explore the property with the exception of one space on the upper portion where the owners reside. This area will be clearly marked. Views are beyond and nothing man made that is not on the property is visible from the property with the exception of one little red light on a US Cellular tower across the valley. We currently do not provide electricity at the sites but it is in the works. We have both available a short walk from the camp site in a common area. The power is limited to charging tech, some laptop time and the like, It wont run a hairdryer, etc. The WiFi is common use and has the ability to download and make WiFi calls. No guarantee of its suitability for any particular purpose, it will depend on usage in the moment. There is little to no reception up here so please plan ahead. US cellular has property and valley wide reception but that is the only one. Verizon can send texts and messages but is painfully slow or non-existent on internet. Also has voice calls occasionally but don't count on it. All the other cell services we do not know about. If you would like to spend a week or more here and would like a better power/internet solution then let us know. We can set it up for specific needs. Good if you wish to be in an amazing space to work remote or write. We are adding decks for lounging and views, a solar and wood heated community Jacuzzi for our guests and an outdoor shower tub as we speak and will add pictures as the projects are completed. We welcome ATV's, side by sides, 4x4's, snowmobiles and other such fun rec stuff but will require you to ride/drive on the bazillion acres of BLM land. It is on two sides of the property and a short distance. Riding on and off the property is limited to 10 mph to limit dust and noise and safety for everyone on the property. Please let us know if you plan on bringing any toys so we can notify the others on the property and send additional info, rules and such. There are several wineries on the road between us and Ashland. If you get drunk please arrange a ride or contact us for help. We support not driving while under the influence and will support you. we also have several responsible persons that live on the property and can be hired to drive/guide you on tours. We are in the process of creating wine tours of the valley which will include a driver. We have several lakes within 10-30 minutes for boating, and other water sports. Rock climbing is also available with the local sport crag within 25 minutes, castle crags is about 2 hrs away and several other small crags and bouldering around the valley 30 min.-1.5 hrs. Instruction and guiding are available if you or your group would like to learn. Equipment provided. Inquire. We can provide certain camping amenities if you need them. If you'd like, tell us when you are turning onto Dead Indian Memorial Rd so we can expect you in 30 minutes, if you don't arrive we can go looking for you. Please just let us know and we can send directions. Google maps will take you right to the property, we've found that other navigation apps will take you the wrong way. Dead Indian Memorial Rd. Is a very good two lane rd. Some steep grades but qaulity pavement. Internet available for all sites at a centralish location. There are some small trout in the stream but only throwback size so far. This 200 acre property is located within the Cascade Siskiyou National Monument, a land bridge where two mountain ranges meet, creating immense biodiversity and natural beauty. Soda Spring is a bourgeoning community tended land located on the ceded territories of the Shasta, Takilma, Latgawa and Klamath peoples, just 10 minutes from the south end of Ashland, Oregon. The property is primarily oak savannah and pastureland, with adjacent fir/pine and madrone/manzanita forests and hillsides. The land sits in a valley where both Soda Creek and Carter Creek enter in to Emigrant Creek as it flows onward to Emigrant Lake, just a mile away. The land is being stewarded by a small group of humans and large community of wildlife and insects. Together we are slowly creating something special... including community event and classroom spaces, gardens, orchards, holistically managed ranch lands, campgrounds and wild places. You will appreciate the peace and quiet of this little cabin on Rock Creek, situated on 11 acres of forest in Williams Oregon. The only sounds you'll hear are the birds in the trees and the flowing creek water. Enjoy sitting on the deck overlooking the confluence of Rock Creek and East Fork Williams Creek. A bridge crosses Rock Creek and there is a hiking trail beyond. Our garden hot tub is a welcome place to soak and enjoy the stars at night. Its an older tub but still keeps the water at 102 degrees. Our cabin has a kitchenette with a small fridge, sink, 2-burner gas stovetop, teapot, crockpot, toaster, and 2-cup coffee maker, plus a few dishes, cutlery, and pots and pans - enough for simple meal preparation. Coffee, tea, sugar, and creamer are provided. The cabin has a small woodstove as its only heat source. A little wood can be provided, and we provide newspaper, matches, and fire starters. There is an abundance of twigs around the property - great for getting a fire going. The stove holds 18" x 4" split logs, if you have some to bring. There are two smaller stuffed chairs, and two bar stools at a counter/bar with views of the creek. The bathroom has a shower and vanity sink, and towels and toiletries are provided. There is hot and cold running water, although the 3-gallon hot water heater limits showers to less than 5 minutes. Nice sturdy steps lead up to the loft upstairs which has an 8" full-sized (wider than a twin but narrower than a queen) memory foam mattress with fresh linens. The loft is low and cozy which allows the camper to sit up on the bed but not stand up. A compost toilet is about 100 yards away, and has a rechargeable motion detector indoor light. Bring your flashlights to find the compost toilet as well as the hot tub as the property is very dark. There is no cell service at the cabin, and since cancelling Musk's Starlink, we don't have WiFi down at the cabin either, although you'll be able to use our front porch for WiFi if needed. The password is listed in the binder on the table. Most folks enjoy getting away from the internet for a while. Some games and puzzles are provided.

Overview

For outdoor enthusiasts, it doesn’t get much better than Ashland, Oregon. The Siskiyou and Cascade mountains rise above downtown, putting the wilderness at your fingertips. With four distinct seasons and mild weather, this Southern Oregon spot offers year-round adventure.

Any time of year, head to Emigrant Lake—the Point RV park offers full hookups and lake views. From March through October, sleep under the trees at Oak Slope’s peaceful tent sites. Around the lake, you’ll find gentle hiking trails, swimming, boating. Be sure to bring your fishing gear; the lake is stocked regularly.

For mountain camping near Ashland, the nearby national forests are your best bet. At Mt. Ashland campground, sleep just steps from the stunning Pacific Crest Trail. A few miles away, Wrangle Campground offers five tent sites with picnic tables and fire rings. If you’re looking to go off-grid, most of the forest is open for backcountry camping.

Bringing a boat? Drive 24 miles from Ashland to Howard Prairie Lake, where you’ll find a full-service marina. With two campgrounds, cabin rentals, and great fishing, the park makes a comfortable home base. In the winter, the nearby Pederson Trailhead / Sno-Park is a popular snowshoeing spot.

No matter when you arrive in Ashland, you'll find plenty to do. In the summer, book seats to the world-renowned Shakespeare Festival.
