Campers have plenty of lakes to choose from in this eastern Oregon community.
Situated in the remote eastern reaches of Oregon, overlooking the Snake River on the border with Idaho, Ontario is a great place to visit for a quiet lake getaway far from the crowds of western Oregon. Lots of reservoirs sit in the immediate vicinity, with a few private, lakefront campsites in the area and a BLM campground on the shores of nearby Bully Creek Reservoir. Some of the best camping options in the area can be found at Lake Owyhee State Park, which offers two campgrounds on the 53-mile-long Owyhee Reservoir, one of which is open seasonally and the other of which is open year-round. Both have electrical sites with fire pits, and one has seasonal camping cabins. Other facilities beyond the camping area include a day-use area with picnic tables and a boat launch.
