RV camping near Sioux Falls

While the crowds head to Mount Rushmore and the Badlands National Park, in-the-know campers continue driving to South Dakota’s southeastern corner, where you’ll find soaring cliffs, waterfalls, and the state’s largest city—Sioux Falls. Check into an RV park on the outskirts of the city, a short drive from the namesake Falls Park, or park your rig along the Big Sioux River in the Big Sioux Recreation Area. Within a 30-minute drive of the city, the pink quartzite cliffs of Palisades State Park provide a spectacular backdrop for hiking, kayaking, and rock climbing, and the state campground has electric hookups. Nearby, Devil’s Gulch Park has year-round camping, as does Newton Hills State Park, where you can swap boating and biking for cross-country skiing during the snowy months. A little further, Oakwood Lakes State Park and Lake Herman State Park have some of the state’s best lakeside camping.
