Wonderful hosts, beautiful, relaxing creekside camping. Worth the hike in! Kathryn went out of her way to help us feel comfortable. Was camping with two small children and the weather forecast predicted severe thunderstorms. Kathryn brought us the gator in case we needed to evacuate. The tent held up perfectly in the storm and the kids slept through the whole thing. But I really appreciated having it just in case. Will definitely be back!

Levi was great. Met us as we were setting up and gave us a lot of options since it was raining. Good hiking around and breweries and wineries around that were dog friendly. Off leash for the pups was awesome! Definitely coming back!

Awesome spot! Very secluded and great access to the river. Fire wood on site for FREE! Terry stopped in the first day to make sure we had everything we needed and was very welcoming. We will definitely be picking this spot again.

Weekend Trip to Private Farm Minutes to Cville

Our two nights on Bob’s property was such a positive experience- the meadow provided both expansiveness and privacy for ourselves and our two dogs, all traveling in our campervan. Bob greeted us when we arrived and was available at all times during our stay. Having access to a shower and bathroom at the house was a big plus! We loved camping amidst the horses, it was such fun to come up to the fences and get close. Highly recommend staying at this site!

The land is gorgeous and sites spread out just far enough. The real special thing about the property is the creek and the swimming hole. I highly recommend checking it out. The owner was cool and kind. My only gripe was the port-a-potties needed cleaning (which is probably a timing issue on our part). Ultimately, I’d go back if ever passing back through. Cheers, Sean

4 nights at 100 Acre Wood

What an incredible 4 nights! I arrived with everything set up already (firewood, water and portable toilet/tent), and the host David stopped by shortly after and gave me and my pup a tour of his property. I stayed for 4 nights and still didn’t get to walk all of the trails! All 3 sites were beautiful and all very different from one another. The Easter Egg one is more secluded and you are in a beautiful large meadow surrounded by trees. Great for larger groups! The Up on the Top has the best view, but you are definitely more exposed. I loved my site at Burlington Meadows. It was best of both worlds! The owners were so kind to check up on me once more during my stay, and were even more incredible when I had to message them late one night, requesting some supplies to remove a tick from my dog. They came right away with more than I needed. Hands down my favorite Hipcamp!! I can’t wait to come back and stay at the other 2 sites!

Weekend Trip to The Bluffs at Cedar Creek

We loved camping at The Bluffs at Cedar Creek. Levi’s land is stunning and Levi was awesome! Very friendly, personable, helpful, and was kind enough to show us to a slightly more secluded spot so our dogs could run freely in and out of the creek. The land is well maintained and we thoroughly enjoyed walking the property with our dogs and exploring the creek. It was a huge plus having extra water supply and large trash can on the way out of the location. We were so happy to find that Levi had some bundles of firewood for sale at the entrance as well. I would recommend Levi’s place to anyone! We’ve already planned on returning here!

Weekend Trip to Savage Acres on Craig Creek

This place was incredible! We camped with 4 kids ages 3-14 and they all loved it here. The creek kept them occupied for hours! The views were awesome and there were tons of flowers and wildlife to be seen.

Weekend Trip to Harmony Tree Farm

Second stay. Very nice. River is a 5 minute hike. The bluebells were out this last time. Shenandoah River Park is my favorite for hikes, so did a day trip there. Skyline Drive is less than an hour —-if you can plan it for sunrise or sunset you will be awestruck. Sunset at the camp’s river was pretty. There’s a couple of owls in residence—I enjoyed listening to them on both trips.

Arcadia Sanctuary

Arcadia is the name we gave to our 83-acre mountainside retreat center for Earth-Based Spirituality. It’s nestled on the south-eastern slope of 4000-foot Mount Pleasant in Central Virginia, convenient to I81. (Note, there is a town called Arcadia off I81, but that is not us. Not to confuse.) We have a mountain creek with waterfalls, towering Beech and Sycamore trees, Witch Hazels leaning over the water, trout, crayfish, snakes, salamanders, and all the rest. We have about 2000 feet of the vertical mountainside with trails to explore. (But the stage and most of the camping is down closer to creek-level.) There are more sites higher up the mountain if you like more isolated camping. More of a trek to the bathrooms/showers/freshwater. We have one of the finest private stages on the East Coast with a top-notch sound system and a natural amphitheater which is like a single pie wedge of a Stadium that has regular live performances throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Our yurt is regularly booked as a unique glamping experience. There are chickens, ducks, turkeys, and guinea fowl free-roaming. Two dogs, nine cats, and several humans are blessed to call this home. There are two bridges that cross Thrashers Creek to get to Arcadia. The first is not suitable for large vehicles and trailers. The second bridge is our recommended entry way. Be aware we live on side of Mount pleasant and the roads on site are graveled and somewhat windy.

Private Farm Minutes to Cville

They had to build a land bridge to get to the new home site, so they turned the bridge into a dam and created a beautiful large swimming pond, complete with beach and gazebo. My wife Stephanie and I bought the property in early 2017 and have turned it into a private horse farm, adding pastures, a riding ring, and 6-stall barn. 100 Acres of forested land in the Draper, Virginia area with scattered clearings that are connected by various roads/trails throughout. Over the years cutting roads has been a hobby that has resulted in miles of cleared pathways throughout the property that are perfect for hiking, running, cycling, and horseback riding. The property includes a small stream, several ravines, ridge lines and trails to explore. We frequently encounter deer, rabbits, squirrels, and the occasional turkey, black bear, coyotes and Bigfoot. The thing people seem to enjoy most is the privacy and and quiet that allows you to connect with nature with no one else around. Things to watch out for other than the wildlife mentioned above the two main concerns in this part of Virginia are deer ticks and poison ivy. We are located about 5 minutes from I-81 or 15 minutes from I-77 making it an easy place to stop when passing through on your way to other adventures. If you are coming on I-81, use exit 89-A. Don't let Google maps take you to Frog Level Ct near the town of Pulaski (LOL). Nearby attractions include Appalachian Gem and Gold Mine on Route 100 (5 min), New River Trail State Park (10 min), Claytor Lake State Park (20 min) and the Town of Draper has a couple small town shops to explore including The Draper Mercantile and Trading Company and the newly opened Conery where you can get wonderful ice cream cones and more. We love hosting campers and are happy to help make accommodations to help you have an enjoyable stay. We have 3 sites but only allow 2 to be in use at a time on the property. This insures that all guests continue to feel complete privacy from others and allows us to always have an alternate site available if campers want to change. Available "Extras" include portable toilet setup, Woodshop class making a cutting board, big foot siting's as well as various camping gear items and games. If there are other extra's you would like to see or something you forgot to bring please let us know and we will see what we can do.

We live on 15 acres in Southwest VA! We have three campsites, one in a field to the left of our home, one in our driveway and a dispersed site to the right in 10 acres of woods. We live in a house on the property that is visible from two of the sites. The area is quiet and rural. Despite the secluded feel, we are 15 minutes from downtown Blacksburg! Our land is mostly wooded with two wet weather streams and across the street is Jefferson national forest. Within 20 minutes or less are several hikes on the Appalachian trail including Mcaffe's Knob and Dragon's tooth, a popular road biking loop, and Pandapas pond day use area with mountain biking trails and an easy hike around the pond. There is limited cell service here, though there is a free community Wifi spot about two miles away at Slushers Chapel. Be aware that there is a slight drop from the paved road to the grass parking for the camping sites but it is accessible to 2WD. Happy camping!
