The camping experience we offer is about unplugging from the modern world , getting back to basics, and re-connecting with the land. Our campsites do not have electricity and there is no wifi on the land. Campsites are nestled in the woods. So although your vehicle will be parked within 50 ft or so from site, you cannot pull directly up to the site because of the trees. We love dogs, but for many reasons , we ask that you leave them at home. It is about a 5 minute walk from sites. Shower hours are 8 am- to 8 pm. Feel free to wander through the herb gardens, eat your meals in the garden pavilion (we have picnic tables there and hammocks), get your Zen on in the meditation hut , and stroll through the woodland medicine path where we grow endangered and at at risk plant plants. (Please note that the woodland medicine path goes to seed by the Fall and is usually munched down by the deer by then, but is still a nice short stroll in the woods). The bearded recluse who ran the still, owned two mules, and an old car frame without a motor. Those mules would pull him through the hollow, and up into the mountains, where the revenuers never found him. Some say on a cold, moonlit night, they’ve seen his two old mules, pulling an old car frame past Camp Cedar Creek.

North Fork River Retreat

You will arrive at our house, and the campsite is approximately 150 yds down the river trail. The campsite is completely private from our house. There’s great fishing, hiking, kayaking and canoeing from the property and also plenty more nearby. We’re only a few miles outside of Strasburg which offers great antique shops, dining, and a brewery with live music on weekends. Three night maximum permitted. **Note that the North Fork is a shallow river with a slate bottom. If you plan to wade, fish or swim in the river, you may want to bring some sturdy shoes to wear in the river.

Beautiful spot on the Shenandoah River....you will see eagles, deer, ospreys, beaver and numerous other critters. Great fishing, boating and swimming not to mention the views. Lots of local cuisine and pubs. Flea markets and BBQ on the roadside and for those who dare the casino and horse racing!!!... Each site has a picnic table, firepit and pavilion canopies for creature comfort. We do have firewood available along with boat rentals. All boat rentals and firewood are cash only. Please limit glass containers. We no longer allow outside firewood coming in as we have had guests bring pressure treated wood and all sorts of junk wood and the next guests are trying to cook over nasty residues on the sides of the firepits. Looking for a personal retreat or get away ? Escape to our beautiful, RUSTIC 32 acre wild homestead / farm. What do we mean by "rustic" ? Simply put... this is camping...not glamping. The camping experience we offer is about unplugging from the modern world , getting back to basics, and re-connecting with the land. Our campsites do not have electricity and there is no wifi on the land. Campsites are nestled in the woods. So although your vehicle will be parked within 50 ft or so from site, you cannot pull directly up to the site because of the trees. We love dogs, but for many reasons , we ask that you leave them at home. It is about a 5 minute walk from sites. Shower hours are 8 am- to 8 pm. Feel free to wander through the herb gardens, eat your meals in the garden pavilion (we have picnic tables there and hammocks), get your Zen on in the meditation hut , and stroll through the woodland medicine path where we grow endangered and at at risk plant plants. (Please note that the woodland medicine path goes to seed by the Fall and is usually munched down by the deer by then, but is still a nice short stroll in the woods). The shower has hot and cold running water and is roughly a 5 minute walk from sites. *Please know that this is a working herb farm/ sanctuary and we are often working in the gardens or on the land doing physical labor, and so do not keep our cell phones on us at every moment. . As the county seat of Fauquier County, Warrenton in the Piedmont region of Virginia combines outdoor adventure with a dose of culture. The historic character of Old Town Warrenton is visible in its 19th-century buildings, but outside of town, campers can explore rolling landscapes, wooded hiking trails, and go fishing at C.M. Crockett Park along the 109-acre Germantown Lake. The park, with 100 acres of hills and woodland, attracts diverse bird species, including eastern phoebes and northern cardinals, and although it doesn’t have camping, you will be able to find RV parks and private Hipcamp tent sites within a short distance, many with picnic tables and BBQ grills. For stunning scenery and a historical twist, head to Sky Meadows State Park.
