Welcome to our beautiful property! This is a very special place, located an hour from Chicago and only minutes from the west suburbs, you will be transported to another time! This has to be the best “swimming/ fishing hole” in Chicagoland and you can have it all to yourself. The property features 20 acres of woods, prairie and an 8 acre lake!!! The lake is crystal clear because it’s so deep (reportedly 125 ft) and is sandy on the bottom. We created a massive beach area with many camping spots to choose from. The kids will love exploring the trails on foot and on bike. Everyone will love lounging under the umbrellas on the comfy chaise lounges and enjoying the views. You won’t want to leave, but if you need to restock, there a gas station 1/4 mile away and full service grocery store and restaurant under a mile away. We even get pizza delivered! There’s a nice driveway of gravel that leads to a nice open field for RV campers. Tent campers can continue to the beach and set up in style. The property was once an active quarry and was then basically abandoned for 40-50 years. Nature took over over, Trees matured, the stocked lake grew some massive fish. A few years ago we started camping out there and just loved it. We’ve worked hard to make it amazing and we want to share it with you.

RWH Farm

Rich history in this property. The land was purchased from the railroad in 1865 through 1869. Also purchased land from neighboring farms. It was establishes as a farm under the Roberts name in 1872. Our family has seen six generations born and raised on this land in the past 150 years. American Indian tribes use the land for their burial ground ceremonies. Elders from a Wisconsin tribe came to the farm through the 1960s to trek the land and perform a ceremony to honor their ancestors. Many arrow heads were found in the fields of the land. The American Indians told stories of how the little spring fed creek running through our land was a small river flowing towards the Apple River which flows into the Mississippi River. The Apple river runs northwest of the farm. In 2001, the land hosted a small budget film crew for the scenes and setting of the 2002 film “Stray dogs” with Genevieve Turner. A massive sandstone bluff overlooking the river gives this state park its name. Climb the stairs to Castle Rock Overlook for sweeping vistas of the Rock River Hills region.

A popular spot for hiking, the park's craggy rock formations, and ravines make for fascinating—if hilly—terrain. The 2,000-acre park is also home to unique northern plant species, including 27 types of ferns.

In total, there are six miles of trails, although many are short loops under a mile. The George B. Fell Nature Preserve borders the park, giving refuge to birds and wildlife in the area.

Most of the amenities are near the entrance. Here, families come to picnic or launch canoes off the boat ramp. Fishermen can cast off in a designated area along the riverfront, although the most common catch is the humble catfish.

Primitive campsites are available, but the grounds are accessible only by boat, so you'll need a canoe or kayak to spend the night.
