This is a beautiful older farm site, with the original home and outbuildings. On the property is a horse pasture, a walking trail, a pond and several friendly animals. There are several acres of trees with a walking trail and campsites within. The farm historically was the top farm in the area. Rooms are spacious. Also this location is only 2 miles from gourmet bar and restaurants on the lake, and additional walking trails. We can also provide farm fresh eggs for your meal, or for additional fee cook breakfast or grill gourmet meals by request.

Lac qui Parle means the “lake that speaks”. According to Native Dakota legend, that is. And this place is indeed legendary. Westward of Minneapolis, Lac Qui Parle State Park lies among 1,057 acres of great prairie wildland. All hiking, canoeing and camping done here is in epic proportion to the Lac Qui Parle Lake, a broadening of the Minnesota River. Grab your paddle and camera because the lake is a pitstop for thousands of migrating Canadian geese. If you keep your eyes open, maybe you’ll even catch a glimpse of the majestic bald eagle! Stand up tall and look out over the tall grasses, fly a kite in the wind and then hunker down for the evening at the beach, where you can gaze meaningfully at the calm water. If you are a fan of panoramic views, a quiet camp and lots of time to reflect on life and stuff, then this truly will be an epic weekend.

When to go

The ideal time to visit Lac Qui Parle State Park is during the spring and fall when the weather is mild and the natural scenery is at its peak. Summer offers warm days perfect for water activities, though it can be busy. Winters are harsh, and some facilities may be closed, so it's less ideal for a visit.
