Discover the most magical spots to pitch your tent or park your rig on your next Eisenhower National Historic Site adventure.
Whether your interest is in presidential history, farming, or 1950s America, there is something for everyone to enjoy at this historical site. Located near the Gettysburg National Military Park, this 189-acre farm was home to President Dwight D. and Mamie Eisenhower. It served as a much needed weekend retreat from Cold War era tension.
Visitors should start at the Reception Center where historical artifacts and exhibits are on display. From there, you can enjoy a self-guided tour of the Eisenhower's 4100-square-foot home, which still retains many of the original furnishings. You can also visit the farm where the President had a successful cattle operation. On the farm grounds you're able to explore the tea house, skeet range, putting green, and more. For those traveling with children ages 7-12, enlist them in the Junior Secret Service Agent Program. Kids get a free Junior Secret Service Agent Training Manual and, upon completion of activities, receive a badge and certificate!
This site is a great juxtaposition to all the Civil War era tours in the area. We highly recommend checking it out if you're in the Gettysburg area. Feel like exploring the area a little bit longer? Check out private and public campground listings on Hipcamp to make the most of your trip!
