Discover Hartford Beach State Park's natural splendor.
Big Stone Lake is the center of Hartford Beach State Park, and we’ve gotta admit, it provides the perfect backdrop for some fun on the water and in the woods. Hartford Beach is surrounded by rocky bluffs and forested shoreline, and you can camp and play right in the midst of it all. There are standard campsites and rental cabins, but be sure to reserve early—this is a popular place! You can bring your boat and get it in the water quickly via the boat ramp, and there’s also a fish cleaning station, fishing pole rental, playground, and a nine-hole disc golf course. If you’re feeling keen to explore inland, there are five hiking trails that’ll take you by historic sites and scenic overlooks.
The best time to visit Hartford Beach State Park is from late spring to early fall, when the weather is warm and the park is full of life. Winter can be harsh, with limited access and amenities, making it less ideal for a visit.
