Discover the most magical spots to pitch your tent or park your rig on your next Springfield Recreation Area adventure.
Discover Springfield Recreation Area's natural charm and outdoor activities.
Whether you're into boating and fishing, hiking, or playing golf, Springfield Recreation Area has got you covered. Set on the shores of the Missouri River, this park has easy access to the river, so bring the boat and get on that water! Fish tacos around the campfire are made easy because of the fishing dock (if you happen to be here sans boat) and the on-site fish cleaning station. The nine-hole golf course with sweet views of the river is another great way to spend an afternoon. Camper cabins and a developed campground mean you can make your visit into a mini vacay and let your pace sloooow down. Or, if you happen to live in the town of Springfield, then grab your bike and hit the connected bike trail that leads you straight to the park. Now we’re talkin'!
The ideal time to visit Springfield Recreation Area is during the spring and fall months, when the weather is mild and the natural beauty is at its peak. Summer brings warmth and a full bloom of activities, but also larger crowds. Winters can be harsh, with some facilities possibly closed, so it's less recommended for visits unless you're prepared for the cold.
