Camp Saguaro is nestled in a unique and rural area on the west side of Tucson, Arizona. With the Saguaro National Park Visitor Center, Tucson Mountain Park, and Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum all within four miles, there is plenty of opportunity to explore the outdoors. Tucson Mountain Park and Saguaro National Park boast hundreds of miles of hiking trails, and non-motorized mountain bikes are permitted on the trails in Tucson Mountain Park. Let us be your base camp for desert exploration whether it's hiking, riding, birdwatching, and learning. Come to Camp Saguaro and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the desert.
What to expect:
We are in a rural neighborhood where most parcels are 1-3 acres, we have seven acres. It's quiet around here but along with the natural sounds of the desert like yipping coyotes, and woodpeckers pecking, you may hear a horse, dog, or chicken. While we are on the outskirts of Tucson, we are not completely remote.
We have carved our sites out of the natural layout of the desert. There are many kinds of cactus in our area in addition to the magnificent Saguaro, and uneven areas when walking. We keep it as natural as possible.
We have a small "Mercantile" on property. This is our office, but we also have items you may have forgotten, and souvenirs made by local artists. Also available is firewood, and ice is for sale for your convenience. We have a small Laundry Shack (two washers, two dryers). You'll need cash for these things, we do not take any other form of payment at this time.
Camp Saguaro is tobacco-free.

Camp Saguaro offers a welcoming and well-maintained camping experience, with many reviewers appreciating its proximity to Saguaro National Park and the Desert Museum. Guests consistently mention the cleanliness of the facilities, particularly the showers and restrooms, which are highlighted for their hot water and high pressure. The camp's layout provides privacy and a peaceful environment, complemented by friendly hosts who ensure a comfortable stay. While the majority of feedback is positive, indicating a high level of satisfaction, the occasional mention of nearby dogs does not seem to detract significantly from the overall experience.
Camp Saguaro is awesome! It's definitely the cutest campground I think I've been in, and the place is incredibly well taken care of. If you are staying in the area to see the saguaros and get the "desert" experience, I couldn't think of a better location to do it. Super happy with our stay, even with the weather against us during it. And Michelle is the friendliest host!
Loved this place! Private and roomy camping spots, and clean bathrooms. And very close to Saguaro National Park and the Desert Sonoran Museum. The hosts are kind and helpful.
Perfect camp site for my purpose. Not to far from my friends in Tucson. One of the best showers I have used at a campsite like this. I loved the instant hot water and pressure control. On top of all this, the camp hosts were extremely friendly.
We Loved the Magic Mushroom! The kids played in the top area non stop. We even tried to sleep up top one night. The inside was very comfortable and fit a full/queen size mattress. It dipped down to 40 degrees both nights we stayed. The inside stayed very comfortable even with the low temps. The bathrooms were very clean, showers were hot, and a large sink to wash used dishes. We want to come back and stay here again soon!
From the warm welcome to the calm peaceful vibe in the campsite... we Loved it! Sitting among the various cacti watching a glorious sunset! Having coffee in the warm cozy mushroom!!!! The bathrooms and showers really amazing!!! Instant hot!!! GO... enjoy!!!
