Best in California: Finalist
Named one of the best Hipcamps to visit in 2024.
We are a family owned/operated ranch, located along the Cosumnes River, one of the last un-dammed rivers in California. As one of the last rivers flowing from the west slope of the Sierra without a major dam, the Cosumnes is a vital example of a healthy watershed. Our goal is to offer a unique outdoor experience for anyone looking for a place to spend time in the great outdoors. Whether you're looking for a single campsite, or a place for a larger gathering, we're excited to have you visit! Take your pick of activities available on site: swimming , gold panning, fishing, camp fires, wildlife watching, floating, hiking, and mountain biking to name a few. There are 3 miles of river to explore. *Please note: We don't allow wood campfires during the summer months (generally the last week of May through September)*

We had a great time at Consumnes River Ranch - the campsites were distinct, easy to identify, clean, and in a lovely setting. Tom was super kind and helpful, and went out of his way to accommodate a request we had made. We look forward to returning in the summer!

Awesome site and stay
Stayed at Rowan’s Camp #7. Amazing site right next to the river. It was raining and my small sedan got to the site through some muddy areas, but a vehicle with some lift is recommended. Tom was awesome and came to check on us, it is obvious that he cares about the guests and land very much. Going again at my next opportunity.

Great location, right next to the river. Picnic table and fire pit provided. Porta potty was clean with water to wash your hands. I would come back.

My family had a wonderful stay here and absolutely fell in love with the location. The river and camping area were beautiful, and we were impressed with how clean the porta-potty was. Unfortunately, I forgot to catch the name of the person who welcomed us, but he was incredibly friendly and helpful. Rachael, our contact person, was very responsive to all of our questions. We will definitely be coming back with both family and friends!

Rolling grass meadows and gold

This ranch with the river coursing through it is such a beautiful property. My friends and i loved exploring the area, hiking, and seeing all the baby cows. We met Tom the ranch manager who was such a kind man, and he taught us how to gold pan! There is a lot of love and care put into this land and you can feel it when you visit. We had no service at this site at all, so other hipcampers should plan that accordingly but honestly it added to the off grid experience and we felt very safe

They were awesome. Taught me how to pan for gold and I found some gold and fulfilled a bucket list item for myself. Beautiful backwoods nature.
