Nestled in a canopy of redwoods, less than 10 miles from the beach sits a private and cozy campground. Fern Ridge Flats combines the best of Santa Cruz county. Abundant trees and misty mornings await you at our property in Aptos. Equipped with electricity, water, and a picnic table for your convenience. There are trails on the land for you to explore, animals, and nature to dive into. *************** Smoking and the use of drugs are strictly prohibited. This is a safe and quiet neighborhood with many families including my own. Please do not request to book if you have the intention of partying or using illegal substances. If these rules are violated, local authorities will be called and you will be removed from the campsite. *************** The campsite is less than a 5 minute walk from the parking spot but is relatively steep. Although it is paved it is not recommended for anyone with mobility issues. *************** As an added precaution to protect the lush landscape, the firepit at the campsite utilizes clean burning propane. We chose a burner that closely replicates the size and heat of a wood to enhance our campers' experience.Nestled in a canopy of redwoods, and only 5 miles from the beach and the Forest of Nisene Marks State Park sits a private and cozy campground. Fern Ridge Flats combines the best of Santa Cruz county. Abundant trees and misty mornings await you at our property in Aptos. Equipped with electricity, water, and a picnic table for your convenience. There are trails on the land for you to explore, animals and nature to experience. While staying at the secluded Fern Ridge Flats, It’s easy to forget that only a 10 minute drive gets you to downtown Aptos with trendy new restaurants and coffee shops to enjoy. Get away from it all and reconnect with nature at Fern Ridge Flats.

Fern Ridge Flats - Private Camping
Matt’s land is STUNNING and private. My family of 4 (hubby + kids 10 and 13) enjoyed our time together. Composting toilet was clean and got the job done. Campsite was spotless and had enough room for our oversized 8-person tent. We’ve had so much rain in CA this spring- and this is the forest- but there were more mosquitoes than I was expecting. Clearly nothing to do with Matt- just a friendly FYI to those who are planning a visit.

Great 1st Camping Trip!
This was me and my partners 1st camping trip and Matt’s place checked off all our boxes! :) We felt safe and it was really peaceful. Definitely bring a cart or wagon if you have lots of stuff to bring to the site, as the terrain is a bit bumpy/uneven to walk through!

Peaceful and gorgeous forest stay
We loved our experience camping at Fern Ridge Flats! Matt was so helpful and the site is gorgeous. The forest is so peaceful and beautiful. The days we spent there felt magical. We can't wait to come back.

Matt’s property was perfect for us, a sanctuary from the city that’s also very close! Matt was very communicative ahead of our trip and we had everything we needed for easy set up and stay. It’s really so beautiful in the lush woods, wish we could have stayed longer and hope to return

Happy Campers
We had a great time at Fern Ridge Flats. The grounds are well-kept with such a beautiful view of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Matt made sure we had everything we needed before arriving, and met us at check-in to share more details about amenities. The site was big enough to fit our 6-person tent and it was just a distance away from the main house where we felt secluded but not too tucked away. There’s a little trail that leads away from the site for a nice short stroll. With the trees as shade and the birds as background sound, we couldn’t have asked for a better site for our first experience with Hipcamp. Thank you again, Matt! We hope to return one day!

Beautiful Forest Retreat
Matt was an awesome host! Sent very clear instructions on how to get there. The site was pristine surrounded by a gorgeous forest with a view and string lights to guide your way. We had a lovely time.
