Site 1 Tent, small, shares fire pit
The tent sites were larger than expected, providing plenty room to set up and spread out a bit, lots of shade throughout the day, and convenient access to the lake. The only downside to the tent sites was the distance from the port-a-potty...the lake could probably use one or two more placed around the lake for camper convenience. Otherwise, be prepared for a long walk or else drive when you have to go.
Mike was a great host! Our site was clean when we arrived, Mike had set a few canoes and kayaks at our dock, there was plenty of firewood ready for us, and Mike even came out to meet us shortly after we set up camp with 18 farm fresh eggs for us. He was very responsive when I sent him any questions on Hipcamp, and accommodating when we had a few people unable to make it for our large group reservation. This was our second long weekend out at the lake, and we'll definitely be back.

Awesome place and awesome host!
We stayed for 5 nights on this beautiful lake while my son competed in Special Olympics over the weekend in June. The location was great, only 15 minutes to Grand Junction and Mesa College. 5 minutes or less to Palisaide. Mike is a great host! He doesn't bother you, but is very available if you have questions or needs. He has canoes all around the lake for campers' enjoyment. The water is clean and refreshing to swim in. Wildlife is abundant including turtles, frogs, fish, peacocks near by, many other birds, and lizards. It is fun seeing how much wildlife you can spot.
It as very hot while we were there, and there were not many sites with shade around the lake - that was the only downside. But when you get too hot, go jump in the lake! We will definitely be staying there again - looking forward to next time already!
Oh... and it is very dog friendly! And there is a super clean porta potty on site.

Peaceful evening on the lake
It was a beautiful, quiet evening on Mike's lake. A generous supply of firewood and canoes and kayaks galore for sharing. Super nice touch. For the price, it would've been nice to be able to fill up my water jugs or drop my trash, but I was grateful for a good night's rest in a lovely spot all the same.

Site 2 RV - Tent, Next to Gazebo,
We will be back!
We were looking for a spot that we could return to several times a year because our son lives there and we will look no further!
Directions from hip camp were accurate and easy to follow. Finding your spot is a little confusing at first but it is written on the white PVC pipe attached to the picnic table at each location. Our spot was in close proximity to the cleanest port a potty we have ever used. When we arrived there was a large stack of wood, axe and the fire pit was stacked ready to light. The firewood was kept stocked for the entirety of our trip. The views were spectacular from this spot and might be worth the trade for less shade. The water toys are such an amazing bonus and the use of them made Father's Day extra special. They had an event at the house on the property and we enjoyed watching the kids play in the lake. They shut the event down at a reasonable hour so noise wasn't an issue.
Things to note:
There are no restrooms other than 1 port a potty. No potable water, being all the water you need with you. No place for trash disposal so be prepared to haul all your trash out. There are lots of ants so if in a ground tent keep that in mind.
Thanks Mike for opening your place up! Its perfect! See you soon!

Site 1, RV or Tent, next to a dock
Beautiful place! Located very close to a lot of popular winery’s and downtown palisade! Lake was perfect for paddle boarding!
