We are happy to share our property with Hipcampers and look forward to hosting you!
Two sites available (one with shed & one open area to camp). There is cell reception at the site. Pit toilet available. Pets permitted on-leash. This is a large vacant lot on a rural road with neighbours on both sides.
There is a trail starting on the right property line (looking AWAY from the road) you are welcome to explore about 1km back into the woods. We encourage you to Hike to Waterloo Lake (about 2km), there are nearby waterfalls and trails, Lake George is close by (day-use fee), as well as Harvey Lake (free park, swimming + boat launch). While in the area we also suggest you check out the historic Kings Landing!
Harvey Station and Frederiction are nearby for all your camping essentials.
Lake George Getaway offers a mix of experiences for campers. It's a spacious, private site with useful amenities like an outhouse and water, but the proximity to the highway means noise can be an issue. The area is great for a quick stopover, especially for those on road trips looking for a convenient place to rest. While some reviews mentioned challenges in finding the entrance and a few maintenance issues, most guests appreciated the helpful host and the natural surroundings.
Lake George Getaway is a small clearing with an outhouse and water tanks.
- site is rocky , difficult for tent staking
- highway adjacent is quite busy with many loud trucks
- nearest food is over 20 minutes away in convenience store in Harvey (mediocre).
- tree damage at south end of site
- intrusive lights from adjacent exurban residential properties
-light inside outhouse not functioning
-no sign at small overgrown driveway entrance
- garbage on site(picked up)
- host helpful ( on HipCamp only)
Nice large area, my suv and camper fit fine. Was private, the outhouse was spacious and clean and there was water available. The night sky was amazing and we hiked to two waterfalls nearby. Note- as Janel states, be on the lookout, i had a very hard time finding the actual drive even in daylight.
Excellent spot just off the highway, very spacious and private, helpful neighbor brought dry wood. Very quiet. Thank you Janel for the great space would stay again !
The host was very helpful. It is a stop near the highway. However, if you don’t get to the site before dark it is difficult to find the entrance as the site number is hidden by overgrown leaves. Also the fire pit is hard to see as weeds have grown around it and it is hard to find it. It was great to see that firewood was provided. Although the host did build an outhouse and provided basic essentials. However, the outhouse light was not working so I suggest bringing some flashlights along for the stay and the outhouse needs some cleaning. The portable water was half gone but I wouldn’t trust it as it probably was there for a long time. The site was overpriced. It is just ideal for a quick stop.
Nice flat spot to pitch a tent, far enough from the highway that there wasn't noise from it, and it was super close to Denny's (definitely recommend this dinner if your in the area).
