Site 5 - Sandy Bottoms River Camp
A+ Brazos River Camp by Sandy Beach
Great spot for “car camping” by a sandy beach (the best we saw in the area) on the Brazos River!
The property manager, John, lives a few miles away and was VERY HELPFUL - from taking us to our spot when we went to the wrong place, to showing us what was around and taking us back to our spot after we tubed the river!
Location: 20 mins outside of Weatherford, TX
Campsite is a mowed grass field with surrounding trees - great for shade, tents, clotheslines and hammocks. You walk from the field right onto the beach.
Amenities: 2 Port-A-Potties, 2 picnics tables, some fire rings and a trash can communal to the site. Cell service was 1-2 bars for both AT&T and Verizon.
Quiet: Depends on the season and the day I'm sure, but we hardly saw anyone else on the water. Also, the only access to the site is through a private drive so there was no unnecessary vehicle or foot traffic. Both nights we spent were quiet and we couldn’t hear any road noise from where we were. And, if the bugs are out, you’d better go heavy on the bug spray.

Sandy Bottoms Primitive Tent Camp
Welcoming for families to enjoy
Friendly Community!! We were greeted with waves and smiling faces. The groundskeeper John was awesome. Made sure we had everything we needed. Accommodations for my teens and grown kids and all of their plus one’s were happy and content. We have a large family and John was super cool with giving us fishing tips, river warnings and information about the community. The site was perfect for us. Plenty of room and it was clean and welcoming for a family to enjoy. Love this place and will definitely be back. The local dogs are a bonus. The big black dog is Clara and she’s awesome. The big white dog is sweet as can be but I never caught her name. She probably wasn’t supposed to be out but I’m blessed to have met her. She was precious and my male was swooned. We had such a great time and we enjoyed the property so much we are looking for an rv lot for ourselves around this community.

Awesome site and fabulous host! Would totally visit again - showers would be a bonus but booked knowing there wasn't any so no complaints here!
