Relax and enjoy the privacy and beauty of our 10-acre secluded property. The property is a mowed, open grass field surrounded by forest. Camp sites have a view of an eagle's nest (two young eagles are in the nest right now!) and our six-hole frisbee golf course. Frisbees are provided and only campers and the residents use the course.
Camp sites include a raised 12' by 12' tent pad, picnic table, space for one or two vehicles that can be parked near the forest or in the field, and use of a porta-potty (cleaned daily and pumped out weekly). Potable water is located from a spigot in the pasture.
Choose from three camp sites: Eagle Eyrie, Owl Hollow, or Hawk Nest. Sites are roomy enough for RV campers and ideal for a private Pacific Northwest getaway.
Our property is in close proximity to downtown Bellingham and downtown Ferndale (only 5 miles north or south) and all the delicious restaurants, live music, and parks they provide; but is nestled into a pastoral refuge. Seattle is 1.5 hours south and Vancouver is 1 hour north.
Property owners, Kim & Jeff, live onsite if you have questions or need anything; however the camp sites are tucked away such that the camping area is entirely separate.
Property is accessed down a long gravel driveway on the east side of Rural Avenue, just across the street from a log cabin/house. The driveway extends past a large barn. Keep right on the driveway at the "Y".
This campsite offers a spacious and welcoming environment, ideal for those traveling with dogs or seeking a bit of privacy. The large open field is complemented by a tree line for shade, and amenities like picnic tables and clean restrooms add to the comfort. While the nearby train and occasional small planes might be noticeable, they generally blend into the peaceful ambiance. For those interested in activities, a disc golf course is a pleasant addition, making it a well-rounded spot for relaxation and recreation.
Great open field, but also a nice tree line if it gets too warm. Starlink worked fine. Bathroom was great, and appreciated the picnic table. Some trains nearby, but they really aren't that bothersome, and I actually find them relaxing. Pretty easy off highway.
Limited interaction with host, but what we did have was great.
The Rural Ranch was a perfect getaway for me and my 3 Australian Shepherds! We were trying out an RV we were thinking of buying and their place was so easy to find, access and park. The disc golf course was fun and chasing toys in the vast fields was great fun for the dogs. Everything was very clean and tidy - something to always be appreciated when camping! The dogs and I highly recommend this Hipcamp spot.
Great spot. Large open field, with 3 widely spaced camp spots next to the tree line. Picnic table, etc were all a nice touch.
There was some train noise from tracks about 1/4 mile away, but they were just far enough to not really bother us. Yes, there's also a flight path above for Bellingham airport, but it's sporadic and mostly small planes at daytime. Otherwise, a quiet and private location.
Lots of blackberries in the fall!
Location is just a few easy minutes off the freeway. Note: there is a large travel center at the exit, which makes fueling, etc very easy. Gas is cheaper too, since it's run by the tribe.
All in all, a great stop over, and we may be back again. Never met the owners, but we communicated well with messages.
This site was quiet and private and Kim did a lovely job with faery lights, rugs, and photos to even make the loo a pleasant experience.
This was probably the first place we visited in the last 3 months of travel without bugs, wind, or rain….the trifecta of camping comfort!
So close to Bellingham without the noise and congestion. The frisbee disk course was impressive….just wish my game was better!
