Close your eyes. Dunes bristle in the breeze behind you, the gentle waves of Lake Michigan crash in front of you, and you can hear the crunch of fellow hikers headed to take a dip. Heaven? Almost. At Warren Dunes State Park’s Modern Campground, you can spend your mornings exploring six miles of hiking trails, your days along the beach, and nights up in the dunes. There’s also an incredible dune formation that rises 260 feet above the lake with spectacular views of the lake. The modern campground is closest to the bathrooms and sanitation area—as well as the road.

Stayed here for the Apple Cider Century. We also stayed at Site 20 in the Rustic campground; which really is the best, but the bar is pretty low here. Not impressed with the location. VERY noisy traffic and trains all night! Hard to enjoy the wilderness with traffic nearby. The park does have a beach, but I've seen much better in northern Michigan. Probably will not be choosing this campground again.
