Putnam Pond is the perfect place to fly your tribe’s flag in a secluded, heavily wooded and spacious area.

Campsites surround a gorgeous pond. Canoe, boat or fish on the water. For a landlocked adventure, the lengthy Swing Trail runs twelve miles long. The trail heads west past Putnam Pond, passing Grizzle Ocean, Pharaoh Lake, Glidden Marsh, Crane Pond and Alder Pond. For overnight campers, boaters can zip across the pond and settle into primitive sites. If you’re no captain but want to hit the water, boat tours and ferry rides are offered on the famous Lake Champlain.

The trail system boasts 25 miles of flowy trails for all abilities as well as a stone staircase climbing from the base to the top of the trails at Shrek’s Stone Hut. Awake to an incredible sunrise and panoramic Green Mountain views after a night underneath a starry dome unblemished by city lights. Chilly evenings in the hut are easily tempered by a pot belly stove fed by seasoned wood. A built in bunk accommodates two people, but it’s possible to sleep up to four guests.

Learn more about this land: Both sites are located in beautiful Huntington, VT on the occupied lands of the Abenaki/Wabanaki. Texas Hill Brook camp site The Texas Hill Brook site is a flat, wooded campsite on Texas Hill Brook in Huntington. The campsite is roughly 10m x 30m (30' x 100'), large enough for several tents or a small camper/RV. It is accessed by a sloped 50m (about 150') gravel driveway. The narrowest part of the driveway is 2.6m (about 8.5 feet). There is a 3m x 3m (10' x 10') tent platform and a large picnic table. Firewood is provided. Near our home about 120m/400 feet away through the trees but relatively private. Within a short pedal or drive to some of the best mountain biking and hiking Vermont has to offer, 15 minutes to Richmond and Hinesburg, and just a half hour to Burlington. Electricity on site, primitive fire pit, but no other facilities, so ALL waste must be packed out. We have a bucket commode to loan if you don’t have your own. Dark Star Cabin Dark Star is the perfect base camp for your northern Vermont hiking and biking adventures! Comfortable accommodations for 6 in a solar powered cabin. Located in Huntington close to some of Vermont’s best trails, Dark Star is a short hike (less than a mile) from a private, secure parking area. The hike is not difficult, but ground is uneven, some of it is uphill, and it may be wet. Note that this property is HIKE-IN ONLY and pack in/pack out (i.e. you will need to pack out all trash, etc.). Unwind in the wood-fired sauna, lounge on the deck under the stars, sharing stories of your escapades and planning the next day’s adventures. Pull-out queen sofa bed on the main floor plus 2 full size beds in the loft. Pillows are provided but bring your own linens. Outdoor shower, WiFi, water filtration system, grill, small refrigerator/freezer, composting toilet, and many other amenities for a comfortable stay.

Located at the end of a dirt road, quiet with views of Killington/Pico and Salt Ash Mountain. Its a 15 min drive from Okemo/Ludlow, 10min drive from the Appalachian trail (7.9 mile walk) and there are 3 other Ski resorts within an hour of us as well as numerous lakes and hiking trails. Just 2 miles up the road is Star Lake and the quaint town of Belmont. Our 7 acres sits on the Northside of Belmont hill. Half of it is open with several gardens to meander through. There is a pergola filled with kiwis and wisteria and a hammock for lounging. A shady grape arbor filled with white grapes that we have made wine with. On property we have a tree fort, greenhouse, chickens and pigs. We do provide fresh eggs for sale. There is a medium pond in the back for swimming, a large fire pit for fires and but the Hip Shack comes with its own fire pit/grill combo. Wood bundle's are also available. There is a rudimentary outdoor toilet and shower. The shower can be filled with hot water using the faucet by the garage. All water from hoses, pump hoses and faucets is the same drinkable well water, collected from the many underground springs that also feed into the pond.

Camp TedRock Adirondack Forest Retreat provides private and secluded off grid campsites and structures on 5 forested acres within the Blue Line of The Adirondack State Park in Thurman New York. Just minutes from I-87 and the Lake George Region, our A Frame site offers a 120 square foot authentic A-Frame cabin with an open Adirondack Lean-to approach. This 1-4 person A frame comes with 2 to 4 sleeping cots, 2 hammocks (available) with hanging space inside or out and plenty of space to pitch a tent all around, tent included. Down by the runoff stream (sometimes there is no runoff!) you'll find a fire ring with a cooking grill and outdoor seating. Inside the A frame you're provided a lantern, gas cook stove, kitchen ware, food storage cooler and small table and chairs. 14 gallons of potable water is provided. There is a small corner loo inside the A frame with a flushing RV type toilet for the ladies and also a comfortable Adirondack outhouse with an ecological waste removing system. Although the A frame is UNHEATED, there is a small propane space heater available to take off the chill of a cool Adirondack evening. A 1 lb Propane bottle is provided. Additional Propane is available to purchase. This 5-acre quiet paradise is surrounded by on site walking trails where the only sounds are the owls and an occasional airplane. Learn more about this land:Secluded cabin within walking distance to the Haystack Mtn. hike with 360° views (3 miles round trip, cabin to summit and back). Cabin has a 2-burner propane stove and fully stocked kitchen (pots, utensils, etc). No running water or electricity, but cabin is stocked with 7 gallons of drinking water, plus a rain barrel for wash water. Separate outhouse with a sawdust bucket toilet and bucket shower. Champlain Valley Alpacas and Beef is a family farm owned and operated by the Foshay family since 1998. Our girls, Gracie and Olivia are grown now. Gracie is married to Jaron and they live in Alabama. Olivia is a nurse and currently is living at home which is a huge blessing to Mom and Dad. Our herd of alpacas once was shown successfully in the Eastern States, now mostly range on the farm, having sweet cria (babies), growing magnificent fiber and effortlessly entertaining throngs of wedding guests! Our beef herd, comprised of Black and Red Angus, Hereford and Belted Galways has fluxuated as the market and hay supplies demand. We have a vineyard of Marquette grapes that are so delicious, that we have to race the birds for them in the fall. Our land is quiet, off the beaten path, and brimming with beautiful views of mountains, hills, valleys with winding creeks. This property has seen years of agriculture as a sheep farm, dairy farm and a fence company. Willow Hill Farm is a family-run working horse farm. We train , teach, board horses, and run a day camp. We had a resident camp for 40 years. We have mountains in our backyard and the Au Sable River with world class fishing bordering our meadow for a half mile. Great swimming there, also! We are 45 minutes from Lake Placid and 30 minutes from Plattsburgh. Montreal and Burlington, VT are a 1.5 hour drive. Lake Champlain is 15 minutes away. Hiking, boating, and swimming are all close, and riding lessons are available on the farm. Most hip camp sites are where resident campers stayed. There are two sleeping cabins with many bunks. Each has two small rooms where a counselor slept and one large room. There are screened windows with shutters on all sides and screen doors without locks on each end. There are electrical outlets and over head lights in the cabins. We have plans to improve the cabins. Past the cabins is the Green with 4 loose stone firepits. Across from the cabins is the shower house with four hot showers, sink, and toilets. Showers and toilets have closed stalls. Currently, the water system is above ground and will not work in freezing temps. We have installed an outhouse for year round use. All water is from our excellent well. On each side of the former(closed) dining are spots. There are electrical outlets on the outside of the dining hall. People with campers may like to park in the riding arena near the barnyard. There are outlets, but no toilets. Good water is available from the barns. Lovely views of sky and mountains! We also have a beautiful 50 acre field with an outlet, but no well. There is an outhouse there. Excellent sky viewing here. This is where we jump and train our horses. Horses may be turned out in this field. is

The Hollow at Dynamite Falls

Full of scenic waterfalls along a Vermont mountain brook, our young daughter named the land after dynamite was found during renovations of the former one-room schoolhouse on the property 5 years ago. Naturalists will love the brookside trails, many dipping pools, a zip line, hammocks, and a privy with a woodland view. There are several scenic campsites on the 150 acres, but only one will be rented each night to ensure a special experience. Wifi and power available across the brook outside the farmhouse as needed. No cell service. Spend lazy days exploring the woods, reading a book in a hammock, or sunning yourself on a rock in the river Roxbury is the geographic center of Vermont - which makes it a great basecamp for adventures. Warren / Sugarbush is 20-25 minutes to the west. Montpelier is 20 minutes to the north. Randolph is 20 minutes to the south. Two brewpubs are within 15 minutes.

My best friend and I camped at one of the remote sites, boating in with our gear and staying for two nights. It was late summer, quiet, and absolutely beautiful. We didn't see many others around the campgrounds, but occasionally spotted some other boats. Our site was up a rocky little cliff, set beneath tall pines overlooking the pond. Nearby trails wind around the pond (really large, more like a lake) and lead back to the boat basin. You can hear the water lapping and the loons calling at night this time of year. We can't wait to come back here and explore a little more, especially the High Peaks Wilderness (I was still nursing a strained knee during this trip--oops!).
