New York’s Adirondack State Park takes up one-third of the total land area of the entire state.

Not that size is the most important thing when it comes to nature, but it sure is helpful. Nestled inside the park, you’ll find the Tioga Point campground, and you absolutely have to visit. Why, you ask? Well, you can only access it via boat. (Maybe you could swim, which would be super impressive, but kind of ill-advised.) Once you’ve boated up, you’ll immediately fall in love with the fantastic views of Raquette Lake and the mountains. A good chunk of the available campsites are right on the shoreline, so you’ll never be too far from the water. This is a rustic place, so pack in everything you’ll need, including water. Bug spray would be wise, too.
