Martens Resort on Timothy Lake

8 sites · Lodging, RVs16 acres · 108 Mile Ranch, BC
Let's be real...when booking a lakefront vacation in BC it's all about the lake and Timothy Lake will not disappoint. Timothy Lake is the perfect size, large enough to be unrestricted and offer great fishing, but small enough where you aren't always battling waves. As you venture from the shoreline you'll eventually loose site of the resort and soon find a public sandy beach, an uninhabited island, and a water channel connecting into Dempsey Lake. We've never heard that Dempsey is a great fishing lake, but it is a cool journey by paddle or small boat, and shows just how awesome the natural world is.....but watch for underwater branches throughout the channel cause a wrecked prop can make a good mad a bad mood - really quick. Located off the beaten track, Timothy Lake is seldom used by weekend warriors and is never too busy - making it great for swimming, water skiing, fishing or just floating around in one of those giant inflatable flamingo's...... if that's your thing. **There is a pet fee at $55/ per pet, you can add this to your booking at checkout.

The best camping near Cariboo Nature Provincial Park guide

Overview

About

North of Lac La Hache and 100 Mile House in the Cariboo Basin is the small, undeveloped Caribou Nature Provincial Park. Although there is no overnight camping, the park is prime for day use, encapsulating Wood Frog Lake and a section of the San Jose River with 15 kilometres of trails. It’s a great riparian area and nesting grounds for waterfowl—keep an eye out for nest boxes for bufflehead, Canada geese, and goldeneye throughout the park. The surrounding forest comprises Douglas firs, spruce, and pine, many of which host black bears, coyotes, fox, muskrat, pine martens, snowshoe hares, and squirrels. This area was and is part of the traditional Shuswap First Nations.

When to go

The best time to visit is in late spring when waterfowl have nestlings and you can see the families out on the lake or grazing on the grassy shore.

Know before you go

  • No overnight stays are permitted in the park.
  • Cariboo Nature Provincial Park is undeveloped and requires that trash be carried out.
