Magical Mountain River retreat

We purchased this land a few years ago when our neighbors decided to sell. It abuts our property They used it as a place for their family to gather and camp on during Maine wonderful summer season. It is a beautiful, quiet spot with a great view and a small pond. Hipcamp lets us share this spot and helps pay our property taxes.We are located in the western mountains of Maine in a summer community on Porter Lake. There is a beautiful view of New Vineyard mountain from our 3 acre field. We have 2 trailer sites with power and water (non potable) and an out house. The field has several fire pits and soft grassy spaces for pitching tents. The camping area is fairly private from our neighbors along the road. The site has a small private pond surrounded by trees you can sit and relax near. You can (walk/bike/drive) the 1/4 mile down the dirt road to the public beach. The beach has a public dock, boat ramp, swim float, picnic tables and grills. Paddle out to the island and try the rope swing with one of our kayaks or canoes. Be sure to check out the bald eagles that live in the white pine tree just a little farther down the island. You will hear the loons during your stay and possibly see a mother with her babies on her back. There are also ducks and ducklings and geese with gosling paddling about the lake. The state stocks the lake with trout, splake, and salmon if you like to fish. There is plenty to do right here!

The cabin was built for me to steal away from the house and enjoy the wildlife, quiet, stars and silence. It is too peaceful to keep to myself so come and enjoy all that Norway Maine and the surrounding area has to offer! Learn more about this land: Welcome to Lulu's. Where you can get a little crazy under the moon or you can take in the peace and serenity of the stillness in the woods. Depends on what you are looking for! No neighbors to infringe on your ideal get away. The large cabin has a welcoming front porch to enjoy the amazing sunrises over Streaked Mtn. 100 acres of privacy to hike, watch wildlife and just relax. Cabin has outside facilities. Off the grid-no electric or running water. Cell service is adequate. 1 gallon of fresh well water provided for drinking and 10 gallons for washing/cooking. Bring your own linens for a queen size bed, twin bunk beds and a full pull out couch. 2 pillows are supplied with a pillow protective cover and pillow case which are washed after each guest. Pots, pans and utensils, are onsite which are washed between campers; trash bags, compost bags, paper towels, dish soap, dish towels and a 2 burner propane stove(green canisters needed) and an older propane table top grill are provided. Camp fire grill on site if you prefer cooking over open flame. There are some battery operated light switches and solar lights in the camp and outhouse. Please remember you will be required to remove trash and outhouse composting bag. Thanks and hope to see you at Lulu's 100 acre wood! Downtown Norway has quaint shops to browse! Norway Lake has a public beach and boat dock. Many hiking trails nearby-Noyes Mtn, Patch Mnt, Singpole and Streaked Mtn to name a few. ATV trails (also can be used for off-road biking)onsite connect with other towns for many miles and hours of riding. Plenty of lakes/rivers for kayaking. Casino, race track and breweries for night life. Oxford Hills has much to offer.

Flashing Moose river camping

Learn more about this land: We are set high on the piney east bank of the Kennebec River. The view is of the setting sun over the untouched hillsides on the opposite bank or the rising sun illuminating and bringing to life that same hillside while you take your first peak of morning. The river rushes by, not a house to be seen. In the distance a loon frolics and sings out it's soulful call. Bald eagles soar over head, fishing, scanning the river valley. Owls hooting in the valley, come closer in the night to see who is still up. There is an echo in the darkness, works during the day too. The stars blaze overhead in the night sky, watch "satellites" track across heavens and the Aurora Borealis, if you are lucky and still up around the camp fire. It is here in front of our camp, where The Kennebec River continues to flow but begins slowing down, stacking up depth behind the Moscow Dam and turning into Wyman Lake, 14 miles of the most scenic boating or paddling you can imagine. 200 yards north of the camp, The Appalachian Trail crosses the river, watch hikers waiting for the famous canoe ferry crossing. Or, hike a section of the trail, Pierce Pond is a healthy 2 hr hike from the camp, to a pristine pond for a remote dip or some fishing. Bring that kayak or stand up paddle board, the river is fun right here, explore for an hour, a day or days. Whitewater rafting, kayaking and canoeing are huge in West Forks, (10 minutes North up 201, watch out for deer and moose) you'll paddle The Dead, The Kennebec and the Penobscot rivers, all the major tour companies are very local and there are cool bars and restaurants. You can tube down from the Forks right to the cabin in a couple of hours. We have a big Glamping tent on the property too, that is listed for rent separately on air bnb as The Duck Flashing Moose Glamping on the Kennebec, rent it too if you want the whole space for friends or the place all to yourselves.

Boomtown Rustic Camps is Nestled in the Foothills of Western Maine. This gem is located in the quiet woodlands on a dirt road where you can reconnect and rejuvenate. Your Stargazer Tent will have cozy furnishings, a comfy bed complete with bedding. Each Glamp Site has an outdoor kitchen fully stocked to make your meals and your morning coffee. Cook with the two-burner camp stove and a Hibachi, please bring along charcoal if you wish use the Hibachi. Enjoy your meal at the Picnic Table then retire to the hammock for a nap after dinner. Campfires should be well tended for safety following the State Fire Marshall recommendations. Also, offered are two campsites located on the edge of the field where you can bring your own tent and camping gear. These two sites have a picnic table and fire ring. Shared Portable Toilet, as well as a shared outdoor shower that has hot water on demand is on site. Water available, although non potable. There is no electricity on site. We are off the grid. Solar lights at night add to the ambiance. Feel free to explore the hiking trails on the 100 Acre property. This area is known for its wildlife. As you will see many different tracks, should you encounter our wildlife friends please allow them the space they deserve. Located approximately 40 minutes from Sugarloaf and Saddleback Mountains, these mountains offer magnificent views. Quill Hill has a spectacular 360 degree view where you can see for miles. Close to Quill Hill, visit the Bigelow Fields Buffalo Farm. Stop at their stand for Homemade Breads and Buffalo Meat. Visit Rangeley Lake to grab lunch or dinner at their fine eateries. Browse the shops in town. Smalls Falls is a must see. The falls are breath taking and another great spot for a picnic. Closer to home Porter Lake is a beautiful lake to Swim, Kayak, Canoe or Fish. This lake has an island which is home to Bald Eagles raising their young there. Eustis offers Flagstaff Lake, a popular spot for Kayakers. The lucky ones get a glimpse of a Moose. Maybe you prefer Biking or golfing in Carrabassett at Sugarloaf, hiking in Coos Canyon in Weld, whitewater rafting in the forks or just simply sitting on the banks of the Sandy River in Strong. Certain times of the year folks take tubes floating down the Sandy River. Our ATV trail is right out of the driveway heading up the dirt road. Get a trail map and explore miles of trails. There is a lot to see and do in the area. Boomtown Rustic Camps welcomes you to relax, reconnect and renew. Enjoy the sounds of birds, frogs and babbling water. As you explore our property you undoubted will stumble across our sweet spot that we are happy to share. You will know the spot when you find it. Beautiful, off-the-grid, rustic log cabin on 10 acres one mile up a 4-wheel drive trail. Located in a wilderness region minutes to Webb Lake, Tumbledown Mountain & Mt. Blue State Park. Trails of all kinds right out the front door. In the middle of Maine’s finest hiking, hunting, fishing, and boating. A perfect place for adventure, romance, celebration or serenity. An escape from the electronic world, the cabin has solar and battery lights but no power generator. (See Winter Conditions below) The space This is a cozy place with led lights & solar lights, candles, a gas cook range, gas refrigerator, wood stove, a dug well with hand-pump in the kitchen (pump can not be used when the temperature is below freezing) and a log cabin outhouse. Everything is here: 1 set of twin bunk beds and 1 queen size futon couch in the great room and a king bed in the bunk room. Fully outfitted with dishes, utensils, pots,/pans, linens/blankets/pillows, books, games, oil lanterns, camp/bag shower and more. There is a pantry cabinet full of food and spices. Firewood is included in the rental price. Propane, paper towels, toilet paper and dish soap are also provided. Guest access The whole property is at your disposal. All Wheel Drive or 4WD is needed to access the cabin in winter and mud season. Other things to note WINTER CONDITIONS (when ground is frozen): -4-wheel drive or All Wheel Drive needed. -There is NO running water from the well pump when the ground is frozen. The sink can be used with a bucket underneath. Bring extra water for washing. I will leave a couple of gallons to get you started! -Really big storms can cause reservations to sometimes be rescheduled but I always honor date changes or refunds due to storms. -Extreme Cold Weather: When temperatures fall to 15 degrees or below, we recommend that you use the propane heater in the bunk room along with the woodstove in the great room. It will be necessary for you to feed the wood stove every couple of hours. -Attention Snowmobilers: You may have to unload your snowmobiles at the bottom of the hill to get your trucks up the hill with trailers hitched. You could also leave your trailers at the bottom of the hill in a plowed out parking area. Ride the snowmobiles up separately. OTHER THINGS TO NOTE: Off the grid = NO ELECTRICITY! Amenities include bag shower, outhouse, gas range, woodstove, battery-operated LED lights, solar lights, candles, gas grill. No Shooting or target practice is allowed. Phone: Reliable cell phone service is 1 mile down the mountain in the spring and summer. Spotty service is available at the cabin during winter. Hydration: You MUST bring your own drinking water to be absolutely safe. The dug well is fed by springs and runoff. Dug wells can be contaminated by heavy rains, and wildlife. Drinking the well water is at your own risk. Bugs: This is mosquito and tick country. Use bug spray and do tick checks twice a day during spring, summer and fall. Dogs: Dogs are welcome. However, NEVER leave dogs unattended outside or allow to run at large. Year-round neighbors uphill have dogs that will be alerted to your dog(s) running at large. NEVER allow dogs to venture on the opposite side of Lamb Road or into neighbors' driveways. DO NOT leave dogs alone in the cabin. Please toss any waste deposited on the yard into the woods. Smoking: Cigarette smoking is allowed OUTSIDE the cabin. Cannabis smoking is allowed inside the cabin. Trash: It would be appreciated if you took your own trash, but if that is not possible, you may leave all of your food garbage and trash in the cabin at check-out and we will dispose of it for you. We request that food garbage or food scraps are NEVER left outside. Wildlife: Please do not feed the bears or any other wildlife, including birds, squirrels, fox, deer, coyote or anything you may see here at Ridgeview Cabin. Feeding wildlife results in a negative impact on the lives and environment of the animals, including possible death or extermination of the animals, and presents a potential risk to your safety. Feeding animals means intentionally leaving food out for them, or even simply leaving a bag of garbage outside where animals can get into it. This means that taking care of your food garbage is extremely important. You are welcome to use the garbage bags found in the cabin. If you must remove food garbage from the cabin, please store it in your vehicle until check-out. Never store trash or food scraps outside. Keep it down for the locals: There are year round residents uphill and downhill of the cabin within half a mile. Please be respectful of their quality of life and refrain from long sessions of target practice, aggressive snowmobile/4-wheeler riding around the cabin/up and down the road, yelling and loud music after 8PM and before 8AM.
