The 2WD accessible sites feature spectacular views to the right, towards Mt Panorama and Mt Horrible and towards Mt Canobolas to the left. Lie back in your swag at night and let the star struck, velvety sky envelope you, or make a booking at the nearby Bathurst Observatory to see the stars up close. Each campsite offers its own unique features for you to enjoy and a hand crafted pit toilet is accessible to those camped along the river bank. Fish or swim in the river, ride your bikes, or set up camp and then head off on an adventure to the Goldfields at Ophir, or History Hill at Hill End via the Bridle Track. Better still, book into a pub crawl with Damo so you can lie back and enjoy the ride. There are plenty of opportunities for 4WDing and bushwalking in the local area. Fires are allowed (fire restrictions permitting). Wood can be collected from fallen wood around the property, or bring your own if you prefer. Pets are welcome for a one off fee per animal. We do ask that pets are supervised at all times and that they do not interfere with farm animals or local wildlife.

On the Stone River Retreat

1 site · RV, Tent100 acres · Bathurst, NSW
Unwind in the seclusion of this private and safe bush camping site on the banks of the Wambuul-Macquarie River in the remote Killongbutta valley located half-way between Bathurst and Orange. It’s a place where time stands still. Enabling you to reconnect with nature as you slow down and embrace the sounds of the river, wildlife and sheoaks when they ‘whisper secrets to the wind’. Many stories and dreamings have come from this place which guarantees to inspire your imagination as an artist, writer, poet or musician. You have access to 100 acres of bushland or enjoy a walk along Killongbutta Road which winds its way through spectacular Wiradjuri country where ancient stone quarries, corroboree sites and a warrior’s grave have been found. Platypus, water dragons and river rats all live in the river. Be prepared to share the site with wombats who have burrowed their homes into the banks. Road access to site is suitable for 2WD in dry weather. It is a short, steep drop with two tight corners not suitable for large caravans and RVs. The site has a newly constructed long drop toilet, pets are allowed and firewood is supplied. Please take all rubbish with you. Please note: Kids under 12 are free to support young families wanting to experience the bush. Please still add them to the booking as they will not be charged. What is not allowed: shooters and trappers, illegal fishing, motor bikes, quad bikes, chainsaws, and other noisy machines! Killongbutta Road runs off Freemantle Road and is 36 kms from Bathurst. It is 40 kilometres from Orange through Gowan Road that joins Lower Lewis Ponds Road. For your information, On the Stone is a podcast and publishing studio that produces a quarterly magazine for the Freemantle Road community. We have local history to share and can always provide information about our services. We look forward to providing exclusive access to our river site for campers who will appreciate and respect this place which is our home.

The Gateway-Hargraves Bushland

1 site · RV, Tent25 acres · Hargraves, NSW
3 x 25 acre blocks were originally subdivided prior to the 1980's by the previous owners of Biara for each his 3 sons. He gifted each of his sons one of these 25 acre parcels of land. It seems the 3 sons were not keen to stay around and eventually all three blocks were sold off. The Gateway is the end of these original 3 blocks. The site allows mainly for camping and relaxing although there are numerous dirt roads to explore, Mudgee wineries close by and Burrendong Dam not far away (accessible via Hill End Road near Erudgere). Hargraves is also known for it's alluvial gold deposits and fossickers still go there regularly to check out Louisa Creek. There is 15km's of dirt road which needs to be traveled to reach the property. Dependent on weather, and if it has been graded recently, this road can be in varying states of repair. In heavy rain it may be difficult to get 2WD access via the public road due to the clay content in the road . Kangaroo, wallaby, owl species, kookaburra, echidna, snakes, various lizards, including shinglebacks, are often seen on these roads and the property.

Hillside Harvest

6 sites · RVs, Tents75 acres · Borenore, NSW
Hillside is a 75 acre working orchard growing cherries, stonefruit, apples and pears. Amongst the rows of fruit trees is a small block of eucalypts and three dams, one of which is quite large and suitable for swimming, paddling and fishing in. Dawn and dusk brings a variety of birds and kangaroos and skies painted in colour. In summer and autumn you can pick your own fruit. In winter put on your coat and take a walk whilst breathing in the fresh, crisp air. In spring, buds burst open and all the trees are covered in beautiful blossoms. The orchard is in the heart of Cabonne Shire, the fruit bowl of Central West NSW. Orange is renowned for its wineries, restaurants and cafes. At our farm stall you can grab a coffee, light lunch and a great variety of local produce including fruit, vegetables, eggs, honey, olive oil and jams.
