Chapman Valley

219 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents6000 acres · Garland Valley, NSW
With it’s large, secluded Bush Campsites, 'Chapman Valley' is still Sydney's best kept secret! Picture this. Your weekend escape is relaxed from the very start - the car trip along the scenic winding Putty Road is slow and leisurely as you know you can arrive at any time for the self serve check-in. After signing in, you meander through this Beef Cattle farm, heading to your own designated camping area. A private corner of the property all to yourselves! After setting up camp, and showing off your awesome (of course) campfire lighting skills, you sink back in your camp-chair and listen to ...the bush. And you see ...the bush. Not a single other camper in site. Oh, except the ones you invited with you of course! There they are. The kids running enthusiastically across the open paddock chasing after their footy, with Buster, the family dog happily nipping at their heels. "They'll sleep well tonight!" you think to yourself happily, as you sink further into your camp-chair and take a long drink on that ice cold beer. 1hr drive from the nearest town (Singleton), "Chapman Valley" is the perfect oasis for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle. There are no nearby shops so be sure to bring everything with you. The property offers over 100kms of bush tracks ideal for walking, push-bike riding or 4WDing. On site-horse riding is available, offering rides ranging from 1hr family rides to full day experienced rides. Check out our website for a full list of offerings. The Communal camping area is within walking distance of our amenities block, which offers flushing porcelain toilets and a hot shower. Bush campsites are fully self-sufficient, BYO (bring your own) water and toileting system. All campers are required to take their rubbish home with them as there are no bins on site. Sites available for all vehicle types, from buses and large caravans to fully kitted out off-road vehicles.

"40 Acres"

82 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents40 acres · Palm Grove, NSW
Hi Hipcampers! Please read to the end, including property rules, before booking. Thank you :) * Please note, we will have a group of about 50 people camping over the October long weekend. There is plenty of space for everyone, however if you are looking for privacy and seclusion this may not be the weekend for you. The group is a quiet, very friendly bunch that value feeling free in nature, so there may be some nudie bums around! * If you need to take a break from the hustle and bustle of civilisation this is the place for you! Our little valley is located 90 minutes from either Sydney or Newcastle, but feels a million miles away. We are nestled in the middle of lush rainforest, at the meeting of two ever flowing creeks. The Great North Walk is literally on our doorstep, and a lovely 2.5 hour walk loops around the property through the surrounding National Park. We have 2 paddocks available for campers to enjoy, as well as our "TajMaPoo" comprised of 5 compost toilets and 5 showers (4 hot, 1 cold). We also have a large rustic shelter with lounges which acts as a wonderful communal gathering space. We absolutely love sharing this piece of paradise with any nature lovers who are respectful and kind to this pristine environment we are lucky to call home. Please no loud parties, no excessive drinking, and absolutely no rubbish left onsite or in neighbours bins. The atmosphere we like to cultivate here is one of quiet enjoyment of nature and community :) * It does not matter which paddock you book ('main' or 'quiet'), price is the same and we are happy for you to camp in whichever one you prefer when you get here. We ask all campers to please follow the following rules: - "leave no trace" anything you bring in you must bring out. This includes all rubbish, which must be taken home or to a public bin, but NEVER placed in any of the bins along our road - please drive slow on the road in and out of the property, taking extra care around horses and any pedestrians or cyclists during the day, and of course wildlife at night - please treat the toilets/showers with care and respect. If you make a mess clean it up, and leave the space ready for the next person to relax and take care of business :) - All dogs must be friendly (to people/strangers, children and other dogs). Dogs must remain in owners eye-sight and under their control at all times. All poos in open grassy areas must be picked up. Please ensure dogs are treated for ticks, as these are around and can be lethal for our beloved canines. - Fires only in receptacles that do not affect the grass. There are two communal fire circles already set up in the main paddock, which you are welcome to use. Please do not leave any metal or rubbish in communal fires.

Forest camping near Yarramalong guide

Overview

Yarramalong’s proximity to beaches and natural sites makes it a must-see stop on a camping trip in New South Wales. Spend the night at a caravan park in town before looking for challenging hikes along serene surroundings in Dharug National Park. Explore the bushland and take a walk along Old Great North Road, then pitch a tent at a nearby campground with firepits. Take a break in the water at Brisbane Water National Park and go fishing or kayaking before viewing some of the best Aboriginal heritage art in the region. Or spend a few nights at campsites in Bouddi National Park to experience a beautiful mix of beaches, rainforests, and a real-life shipwreck.

Where to go

Dharug National Park

Dharug National Park encompasses bushland north of Hawkesbury River, comprising dense forests, sloping mountains, and steep sandstone cliffs. The diverse landscape gives way to walking and biking tracks that lead to historic sites and opportunities to glimpse indigenous wildlife, including cockatoos and yellow-bellied gliders. Old Great North Road, a historic site that is part of the Australian Convict Sites World Heritage property, consists of a 9-km loop built by 720 convicts from 1826 to 1836. Campers can explore the Aboriginal heritage and stay a few days in the natural wonder at nearby tent and caravan campsites that provide potable water, bathroom facilities, and firepits, or try bush camping for a more immersive experience.

Brisbane Water National Park

Brisbane Water National Park stays true to its name with easy access to coastal waters for kayaking, fishing, and beachside picnics. Spend some time out of the water too on cycling and walking routes that lead to flowering fields and ancient wonders. The area is also known for its Aboriginal heritage sites and is home to hundreds of rock engravings, rock paintings, and foreshore middens. Visit the Bulgandry Aboriginal site at Kariong to get a prime example of the beautiful rock art the park offers. Pet-friendly campsites in the area offer access to off-leash areas, garbage bins, and hot showers to provide extra comfort for extended stays.

Bouddi National Park

Bouddi National Park sits along the coast, rainforest, heathland, and cliffs. Camp at Putty Beach, Tallow Beach, or Little Beach for swimming, fishing, and whale watching. Tent and caravan camping areas are available with water views as well as access to potable water, restrooms, and gas BBQs. Then head out on the 8-km Bouddi coastal walk, a trail considered one of the most beautiful in the area with a mix of wildflowers, scenic outlooks, and the shipwreck of the PS Maitland.

When to go

Yarramalong and its surrounding area see a peak in temperature in the warmer spring and summer months. January is typically the warmest month with an average high of 27°C. Spring brings blooming wildflowers to the area, attracting campers from far and wide. July is the coldest month of the year with an average high of about 16.5°C. However, August campers avoid the harsher humidity of the hotter months while still enjoying plenty of sun. Humpback whales also make their annual migration from May to July.
