Storybook towns, vineyards views, and cellar-door wineries tempt caravan campers.
Wine lovers and foodies will be in their element in the Barossa Valley. Less than an hour's drive from Adelaide, this is one of South Australia's oldest and most prestigious wine regions, brimming with family-run wineries and cellar doors, farmer's markets and farm-to-table restaurants, and endless opportunities for wine tasting. Campers and caravanners have plenty of options in Barossa, whether you want to park your campervan at a rural farm, seek out a tranquil caravan site amid the sun-blushed vineyards, or check into a holiday park or tourist park with a swimming pool and full amenities. The balmy summer months bring the crowds to the Barossa towns of Tanunda, Angaston, and Nuriootpa (book early to snag the best campsites), but our favourite is fall harvest season—the perfect time for woodland walks and vineyard tours. Don't rule out a winter visit, though. Most campgrounds stay open year-round, and temperatures rarely drop below freezing.
