All to yourself
100% of recent Hipcampers say this Hipcamp felt private.
Exclusive use of a private camp site! We love our slice of paradise and want to share it with others. We have been improving the land since moving here with a focus on regeneration and sustainable farming practices, such as excluding cattle from the river, replanting and finding alternate ways to approach pest management.
At times we host women's wellness retreats with consistent positive feedback of being nurtured by nature.Privacy guaranteed with exclusive use of campground.
Adjacent to the Barron River in a secluded corner of a private property just outside Atherton, the natural environment offers a private campground for your group, stunning views over paddocks and bushland, and a large meandering river complete with platypus, fish and gentle rapids.
The level grassy communal area is surrounded by trees, multiple exclusive use camping sites are available with a background of birdsong and flowing water.
A modern composting toilet has recently been installed.
There is a collection of firewood and firepit, canoes, a wood-heated shower, non-potable water and solar powered battery available. Potable water (rain water) can be provided if you run out, just ask.
Our canoes are complimentary but only to those who are competent and confident in its use. If you are not fit and able to safely use the canoe, please don't. To ensure proper fit it is recommended to bring your own lifejacket,, if you need to borrow one of ours you will need to check sizing in advance.
Although pets are most welcome, due to the amount of wildlife (including tree kangaroos and ring tail possums) we request that pets remain restrained while on site.
Prolonged heavy rains can make access difficult and result in cancellation.
Short duration and small group bookings during peak periods (school holidays and long weekends) will not necessarily be approved. As we are a single site camp this will block anybody else from using the campsite.
There are no redclaw here. We ask that guests do not set redclaw or yabbie traps as there is the risk of catching and drowning platypus.

Unique ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Tent · Group trip
We loved tent camping at Barron River Retreat Hipcamp. This is a very unique place. Platypus in the river, where we could also swim. Really well functioning toilet even very remote. Nice and very welcoming host. Good directions and easy to find. Bring all you need. No electricity.
