Mark's Campsite is a welcoming spot with a friendly host and great communication. The campsite offers plenty of activities around the lake, a community kitchen, and is close to the beach, providing a private and spacious experience. While most visitors enjoyed their stay, some found the bush setup a bit challenging, especially for families expecting closer beach access. Clearer site maps and photos could enhance future campers' experiences.

Best Campsite on Straddie!
Tent · Group trip ·
Our family of 6 had such a great time camping over at Mark's Campsite over new years eve. We stayed for 4 nights and we were so happy 😊 It was private, spacious and only a 2 seconds walk to the beach. We even had a loo with a view of main beach!! We had a camp fire and took our own shower. You do need to take lots of water, but that's easy just fill up in town. We saw kangaroos and goannas, it was awesome. The sand flies were hectic but nothing a bit of spray didn't fix. Mark was great, a great bloke! He met us and drove us up the beach to the camp, and got us out from being stuck in the sand dune. I can't recommend Marks Camp enough. I just loved how quiet it was compared to camping over at flinders. We will be back, and can't wait for our next trip to Marks Campsite. Thank you Mark!!

Great Spot, But Too Hardcore For
Tent · With pets ·
Overall, we had a great experience! The site offers plenty of good stuff—pippies, a decent beach drive, clear waters, and more. However, we had to cut our trip short as it ended up being a bit too much for the girls, especially since we had booked through New Year. The campsite felt a little too hardcore for them, particularly with the toilet, shower, and bush setup. We were expecting to camp closer to the beach (the Hipcamp photos may have given us that impression), but we ended up at the bush site instead. It’s also a decent walk to the beach, which added to the challenge. The boys might return to use the credits we have for the remaining days—if we can book the site nearest to the beach. A site map and more accurate photos of the amenities would really help set clearer expectations for campers.
