Whisper Creek was founded in 1999. It has been the gathering place for many great friends and camping adventures. WC can hardly be camping, more like Glamping! This is a very private and quiet location. You can settle in knowing that this listing includes a covered picnic area. Which has counter space for food prep and cooking that includes a small sink. But remember, it’s camping so you’ll need to come prepared with a camp stove for cooking, although I do have charcoal and propane grill’s at the picnic area. Fire pit for awesome evening camp fires with free split firewood on hand. All I ask is that you burn it like you split and stacked it. You can gather and relax under the covered picnic area for dinner preparation and/or lounging. We are located within an hour from Wintergreen, numerous wineries, craft beer locations and numerous hiking destinations. Harmony Hut has fresh linens but please bring sleeping bags and/or sheets for the screened in bunkhouse. River access to the James River is a short drive to Howardsville. There you will also find a General Store which offers you the basics, such as Beer, Wine, Ice and a few grocery items. They make the best homemade sandwiches and grilled burgers. Direct river access can be provided via special request. I can also provide shuttling services. But this needs to be mentioned well before your stay as I don't live up there year around.Harmony Hut is a four season type bunkhouse that includes ac/heat, tv and stereo. This includes fresh linens. The outdoor shower is a summer season offering. Due to freezing risk it is shut down October to April.

Firepit, private. There is a private fire pit at the picnic shelter. It is the only area allowed for a fire. I make great efforts to supply split and dry firewood at the campsite. Please enquirer prior to your visit to see what’s on hand. Burn it like you split and stacked it.

Hose, bottled water or jugs. I try to keep a 5 gallon jug of fresh potable water on hand at the picnic shelter. There is a hose at my garage to fill personal containers or refill the container on hand.

Hot water . The outdoor shower is located at the Harmony Hut. It’s a continuous hot water supply unit. It’s a warm season unit that is winterized once the temperatures consistently drop below freezing at night to prevent freezing.

The outdoor shower is a seasonal offering from May to October. Outdoor Shower Pro Tip: The heating unit is supplied via a fresh water garden hose. The water gets super heated as the hose lays in the sun. Let the water run for about 30 seconds, then make adjustments as necessary.

Group trip

Great place for a fun family get away. The hut and site were just as described - fantastic. Mitch couldn’t have been a better host. Hope to visit again in the future.

Cute Little Cabin in the Woods

This spot was everything I was looking for to unwind and decompress. The space had everything I needed. The day I arrived was the day they were calling for some pretty aggressive storms. I got in just in time to lay down and watch the storm roll through. Once there was a break in the rain, I was able to cook myself a meal at the picnic shelter. At night, it was pitch black, which makes for a restful night's sleep for me! If it's not your thing, the cute string lights in the cabin have a dimmer on them! There is limited cell phone service, which I took full advantage of. Also, the outdoor shower was amazing! I have nothing but great things to say about this place. I look forward to coming back again very soon!

Group trip

It is beautiful!! Clean and tidy and outdoor shower was very nice.. It would be great for a large family with the option to rent the Airbnb house. I would stay again and recommend it to friends and family.

Relaxing weekend in the woods

Mitch was a great host! Our stay was awesome, weather was great and so was the location. The “kitchen/picnic” area was a game changer. Having electricity and fans to help keep the bugs away while cooking & eating was a big help. All you need to bring along on your trip is your clothes, food & bedding, Mitch has supplied pretty much everything else you will need for your stay.

Loved sitting on the porch of the cabin. Mitch was super responsive and easy to communicate with. Generous supply of firewood. Highly recommend.
