Overview

About

Embark on an adventure at Blackwood River National Park, where the river's graceful meander beckons. With 270km of Western Australia's longest continually flowing river, the park invites kayaking, swimming, and fishing enthusiasts. Capture the scenic vistas with your camera, especially during the vibrant wildflower season in spring or the rain-kissed landscapes of autumn and winter. Set up camp at one of the park's welcoming campgrounds, perfect for a family picnic or a launch point for your canoe.

Notable campgrounds

  • Warner Glen Campground - Nestled on the banks of Chapman Brook, this spot offers serene river access and picturesque settings.
  • Sues Bridge Campground - A relaxing retreat by the Blackwood River, ideal for swimming and kayaking adventures.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  • Book early to secure your ideal camping spot during peak seasons.
  • Weekdays often have more availability than weekends, so consider a mid-week stay.
  • Keep an eye on cancellation policies for last-minute openings.
  • Explore nearby camping options for alternative sites if the park is fully booked.

When to go

The best time to visit Blackwood River National Park is during spring when wildflowers bloom in abundance, adding a kaleidoscope of colour to your adventure. Know before you go

  • Check current campfire conditions and adhere to safety guidelines.
  • Be aware of natural area hazards and plan your activities accordingly.
  • Accessibility varies across the park, so research your destination beforehand.
  • Carry a personal location beacon (PLB) when venturing into remote areas.
