Murray Valley Camping

10 sites · RVs, Tents50 acres · Bunbury, WA
✨It’s camp fire season 🔥🏕⛺️ Come on down and relax with your friends and family by a nice, warm fire on these chilly nights 🥶. We’ve got fire pits at each site and firewood for sale ($15 per bag) plus plenty to pick up around the sites✨ Murray Valley Camping features campsites that are completely open in nature. Each site is close to the Murray River and is surrounded by nature, so you truly feel far away from the rest of the world. The property is close to the famous Bibbulmun track, with Harvey and Boddington equal distances away, so options to explore the region easily. Campers can go for walks along the river, relax, and enjoy the sounds of nature. Throw your kayak in for a paddle. Throw a line in and try your luck at fishing. As the day slips away, catch a beautiful sunset, as you toast marshmallows by the campfire (outside of fire restriction times). There are no toilets or amenities, so all campers need to be fully self-contained in that respect, with their own camp toilet and water, and we ask you to take all waste when you go. There’s also little to no cell reception at the sites. There is background noise from the nearby conveyer belt that goes on and off randomly. Some people take it as soothing white noise while others think it’s overbearing. Pet-friendly, so you're welcome to bring your four-legged friend along. Unplug from everyday life, escape and reconnect with friends and family in nature.

Amber Ridge Estate

8 sites · RVs, Tents68 acres · Paynedale, WA
68-acre peaceful retreat nestled within State Forest, a short drive from Donnybrook. We are one of only two properties in this small, isolated pocket. We have three sites available for self-contained campers, and one site that offers bathroom facilities. Stay here and enjoy the peace and tranquillity of your surroundings over a glass of wine from one of the local wineries or head out and explore the beautiful Geographe Wine Region. Redgum Hill Nestled in amongst the red gums on an elevated position near the edge of the property, you will be camping next to the old hay shed. The birdlife here is amazing, with red tailed cockatoos and honeyeaters amongst others frequently visiting. Please take care whilst exploring around this area, there are some deep rabbit warrens around the hay shed, which can be hidden in the grass in winter. This site has no facilities, self-contained campers/vans only. Valley Vista Valley Vista is a private and secluded haven, on an elevated spot backed onto state forest looking down over the valley, with arguably the best views of the farm. This site has no facilities, self-contained campers/vans only. Creek Junction Creek Junction is a peaceful area by the creek line nestled in amongst the trees, where the gully running down the hill meets the creek. One of our three dams is hidden in amongst the tea tree bushes nearby. You can see the house from this campsite, but it is far enough away that privacy is not an issue. This site has no facilities, self-contained campers/vans only. Please be aware, all of our dams are seasonal and will be very low in the summer months. We also recommend that you do not swim in them. Shed Pad with bathroom Shed Pad is a powered site (15 amp) situated next to the main shed with bathroom facilities, including a flushing toilet. This site is relatively flat, perfect for a couple of tents or two medium/one large caravan. It overlooks neighbouring paddocks and state forest. Please note, this site has a two-night minimum stay requirement. Base price covers two people.

Harmony Retreat

7 sites · RVs, Tents25 acres · Meelon, WA
Just 1 hour from Perth, Harmony Retreat is situated on 25 acres at the foothills of the Darling Range Escarpment just 10-15 minutes from Pinjarra and Dwellingup, 7 minutes from the southwest highway, and 3 minutes from Pinjarra-Williams Road. It's an easily accessible and picturesque private property with approximately 7 acres of forest, flushing toilet, hot outdoor shower, a winter creek, a swimmable spring-fed dam, and an abundance of bird and wildlife, nestled between cattle farms in the heart of the Peel region. There are friendly free-ranging chickens, a mischievous mini pig named Peppa (who loves pats), sheep, and family dogs on site. The owners Michelle, Troy, and Carolyne live and work onsite (this is a working farm). THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO BOOK IF YOU INTEND TO PARTY. The camping area is easily accessed by most vehicles. There is a hot water outdoor shower and toilet available to use and within walking distance of each site. The dam on the property is currently unfenced and has steep sides when the water line is low, therefore this property is not recommended for those with small and wandering children. Older children will need to be supervised. Friendly dogs are welcome, however, must be kept on a leash at all times. There are no cooking facilities available for guests at present (this could change in the next couple of months as Troy is notorious for making stuff happen lol... so when it does we'll update the information). Therefore you will need to be completely self-sufficient including washing up bucket, cooker, kettle, esky, etc, and also bringing your own drinking water as the water from the taps comes from our spring-fed dam. We do ask that you follow local fire regulations with no outdoor open flames during fire bans. All rubbish and waste needs to be taken with you. However, Peppa the Pig will always appreciate your veggie scraps. Fires are permitted in designated fire pits during fire season. Wood is available for purchase on-site from April/May to October/November. Collecting firewood from the property or forest is not permitted. Firewood Kit's can be purchased for $25 cash upon arrival. This includes firelighters, kindling and 20kg firewood at your site upon arrival ($30 if using EFTPOS to include various fees). We also host various events such as drumming circles, meditation sound journeys, retreats, and festivals throughout the year, as well as offering holistic healing sessions, private sound journey sessions and have a little shop selling journals, oracle cards, giftware, diaries, cacao, and handmade items which can be opened upon request. Camping near Bunbury guide

Overview

Just under two hours’ drive south of Perth, Bunbury may be Western Australia’s third-largest city, but it hasn’t lost that coastal, country-town feel. Probably best known for its farmers market, Bunbury is also the entryway to the forested hills, vineyards, and shores of Western Australia’s southwestern region, with both the Ferguson Valley and the Margaret River region right on its doorstep. Accommodation options are as varied as the landscapes that surround this coastal city, with everything from bush cabins, beach campsites, cosmopolitan caravan parks, and family-friendly ocean-front holiday parks with swimming pools on offer.

Where to go

Bunbury, Australind & Vicinity

Pretty much the definition of the best of both worlds, Bunbury’s caravan parks offer pool-side cabins, campsites, and caravan pitches just a stone’s throw from the beach and the city, while Australind has some tranquil riverside campgrounds and caravan parks. If you prefer your camping to be a little wilder, you can head further north onto the Leschenault Peninsula, where you’ll find a handful of campgrounds sandwiched between the estuary and the ocean.

Busselton & Dunsborough

Follow the sweeping shores of Geographe Bay south and you’ll soon stumble upon Busselton, where you can stop to explore the two-kilometre-long wooden jetty and soak up the holiday vibes or head south still to Dunsborough. Two of Western Australia’s best-loved holiday destinations, both Busselton and Dunsborough offer visitors an array of camping and lodging options, from 5-star retreats on the edge of Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park to campsites with 5-star views.

Ferguson Valley & Wellington National Park

East of Bunbury lies the rolling hills and vineyards of Ferguson Valley and the towering forests of Wellington National Park. Home to the biggest dam mural in the world, as well as some great mountain bike tracks, riverside camping, and plenty of opportunities for swimming and paddling, Wellington National Park is a great spot to switch off and get away from it all.

When to go

With a Mediterranean-style climate—hot, dry summers and cooler, wetter winters—Bunbury is a great time for camping all year round, although you might have to bring warm layers and a rain jacket in the winter. Summer is the most popular time to go camping in Bunbury, but this also means the caravan parks and campsites fill up well in advance. If you don’t mind slightly cooler weather, spring is even better, with great weather, wildflowers, and quieter campgrounds.
