3 nights at Big Rock Eco Retreat & Campgrounds

Beautiful area. We stayed in the lakeside dome which is being set up for accessibility. We got a tour of the dome on the hill. Next trip we will use that one. Very private, amazing views. Hot tub at both makes for a relaxing romantic stay. Owner was very responsive for any questions or issues and resolved quickly.

Weekend Trip to Hicks Haven

Upon arriving we were greeted by the ever charming Marilyn. She walked us through the land and showed us all of the little things they've done to make this an enjoyable experience. We were free to do whatever we wanted and had some incredible chats with her as we stayed on the property. During the on-season this place will be even more magical than it was during our stay (which was very inviting regardless). I would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a place to unwind. 10/10 would come back here.

We absolutely loved staying at Susie and Jason's dome in the woods. Jason met us upon arrival and drove us through the property to the dome. He spent a good amount of time going over everything to make sure we were comfortable and knew how to operate the pellet stove and water. We happened to arrive the day a huge snow storm was coming, so the scenery was beautiful. No better place to be to hunker down! The dome was comfortable and clean. The kitchen had all the necessities. Beds and pillows were excellent. The loft bed even has dual remotes so you and you partner can adjust it according to your likes. Hot tub was awesome to have a soak in at night under the stars. Added bonus was how the surrounding forest was dimmly lit up with black lights at night. All in all our time here was awesome. The only recommendation I would give the hosts is to make sure the dome is heated upon the guest's arrival. We will be back again for sure! Thanks for a great mid-week getaway from the kids!

Fantastic hosts and a beautiful cabin. It was very peaceful stay in the middle of a snow fall. Walking outside the cabin in the middle of the night was extremely silent and peaceful. Having an ample of logs made it fun to keep the fire going. It definitely smelled like camping.

I had the most incredible stay at this cabin with my friends! Everything was done so tastefully and beautifully, it all came together perfectly! You can tell that Joan genuinely put a lot of thought and care into every detail. She’s not only kind and amazing, but her hospitality really stands out. Plus her dogs were really cute and friendly. The land itself is absolutely stunning, offering a bit of everything you could want in a getaway. Plus, the cabin is equipped with everything you could possibly need, making it so convenient and stress-free. It truly exceeded all our expectations. Can’t wait to go back.

We loved our stay! Ann and Brian welcomed us like part of the family, we stayed for 2 nights over New Years. The A-frame was beautifully built, and a perfect cozy getaway. We cooked our food over the fire, walked around the nearby Quarry, and, of course, enjoyed the hot tub! I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking a cute, cozy, relaxing holiday away in the forest.

Great stay! The bunkie was nice and toasty in the winter. The fire pit was right next to our bunkie which was great and Joan was an excellent host! We will definitely come back again. We borrowed her snowshoes and and took some walks around the property. If you're coming with a kid in the winter, bring your own sled it comes in handy!

Joan's land was very peaceful, quiet and wonderful. She was very accommodating to our requests and we felt comfortable. Joan's two big dogs were very friendly and spent a lot of time with us during our stay. The cabin was just right to keep out the cold and our family made another memory and we hope to visit again. (My two daughters love it)

The main floor has a pull-out double bed, and the loft has 2 sets of bunk beds, ideal for kids. The bathroom facility is a newly built very airy eco-outhouse - you will be pleasantly surprised! There is a sink to wash up, and an outdoor shower, but for now, only cold water is available. This an ideal family getaway or a romantic getaway, I look forward to hosting you!

This beautiful spot was re-forested with pine a number of years ago, and was sectioned off from the surrounding farmland, which is now maintained by the mennonite community. It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night. The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead. There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company. Here is what the land offers: -Bunkie in the Forest: A sweet 8x8 ft. space with new bunk and mattresses as of April 2023 -Strawberry Fields bunkie: an 10x12 space with a loft with a queen memory foam mattress and a main floor with a full futon and a small table -Campsites: Meadow, Forest and River spots. We now have decided to add some sites for rent to share this incredible property with others outside the water ski community. Site #1 is a small cabin that sleeps 3 and site #2 is a small houseboat that has been converted to a bunkie. Onsite activities include use of a canoe and paddleboard.
