Juliet and Grant have been custodians since 2003, in that time we've built a house, raised a family and now that Alex and Hayley are both at University, life has become a little quieter, (not so sure if we like the quiet though!) Now we've only just started with Hipcamp, we do have a lot to discover, happy to listen and learn. We do offer plenty of space and you will not be crowded out as we keep numbers very limited. No facilities, no toilets, showers, electricity, rubbish bins etc. We do ask that you respect this as you must be fully self contained. We do not consider, a bucket with a lid, to be self contained ok!Julatten is well known as being cool, clean and green! Once upon a time, National Geographic voted the locality as one of the best places to live! As for Bird-watching, internationally renown! Port Douglas is 35 minutes drive, Mossman about 25 minutes, and Mareeba around 50 minutes. All towns have either a Coles or Woolworths. The nearest pub is just 2 kilometers away, the Julatten Hotel. We have a second pub over in Mt Molloy, the National Hotel, famous for it's cold beer and excellent meals. You'll also discover a couple of coffee shops open in the Main Street, the Top Shop has fuel, take-way food and general groceries, also doubles as the Post Office. The Mt Molloy Service Centre offers vehicle repairs and discount feul sales, however is open Monday to Friday only. Once a month Markets are held over in Molloy, otherwise Mossman has a good market on Saturdays, and Port Douglas every Sunday morning. We offer a choice of sites overlooking our dams, all are grassed and offer views out over the dams, or to the mountains beyond! Please bear in mind, that it's all very new and your feedback is very welcome. You must be fully self contained as we do not offer any facilities such as toilets or showers. By all means water the trees or grass, but please leave no trace. Grey water go straight out onto the grass. Your pet is also most welcome however we do have cattle and horses, so must be restrained when livestock are about. Other points, the horses just love snacks! carrots are favored, bread is also acceptable :0) but if you going to give into the humbugs please don't feed them anywhere near your site. The cattle are quite happy to look after your vegetable scraps as well, but again probably best not to feed these guys close to your camp. Another point, if you do head out, just make sure that no food is left outside, we have three rather cheeky young steers named, Ben, Jerry and MJ, who will help themselves. Bailey the Pony, also likes to check the contents of any rubbish bin or bag. There is a water point on the entrance, which is pumped straight from the bore! Good clear water but please note that it hasn't been treated in any way. No other facilities are available. The nearest dump point is over in Mt Molloy, which is a 15 kilometer drive. We enjoy a reasonable Telstra Mobile signal, Optus is a bit fuzzy, Voda-phone?, no chance!. You're most welcome to enjoy a camp fire but please ensure that it's contained. Our access is tight, so probably not suitable for the larger rigs. Please contact the host for detailed information on how to access the property as google maps will send you down a no through dirt road, and that will kind of ruin your day!.  And a final note, the level of water in the dams vary with the seasons, towards the end of the year, they may even dry out. Right now, very full! The sites ARE NOT FENCED OFF. Please bear this in mind as cattle can be curious creatures. Enter/book at your own risk.

Perfect spot for a 3 night stay in our 19ft van while we explored port Douglas and cape trib. Local pub had live music on Sunday arvo, animals came and said hello to us each afternoon. Felt very safe, refreshing to be out in the lush grass. Grant was very responsive to our messages. Thank you!

Peaceful, views, animals all made it a relaxing, if brief stay. Would definitely come back.

Loved our stay!
22 ft travel trailer
Absolutely loved our 3 nights at this Hipcamp whilst we explored Port Douglas and surrounding areas. We stayed at site 5 which was just magical being perched up next to the dam watching all the wildlife. Very peaceful and the horses have so much character! We highly recommend staying here!

We loved Grant’ property, it is a beautiful setting, great value and easy to find, situated just off the main road. There was plenty of space to park our van in amongst the friendly cows and ponies. Would highly recommend.

Great spot overlooking the dam, watching the numerous birds during the evening. Great location for touring around the region. Very easy to deal with host. Have already recommended this place to fellow travelers.

Birds birds birds
15 ft travel trailer
At first this looks like just a big open paddock but our 2 nights here were really good, despite a lot of unseasonal rain. The hundreds of birds that flock in to the dams each evening make it seem as if you’re in a nature documentary . We also enjoyed the local area with lots to see & a couple of great pubs which offer good food & live music . Grant happily gave us a late check out to do a few running repairs which was much appreciated.
