It can be muddy and bumpy while the road awaits its winter repairs. We are one hour outside of Kamloops on a maintained public gravel road, however AWD or 4WD recommended during late fall to late spring. We have no minimum stay but highly recommend two nights. Do not use google maps to find our place - it can be very confusing. Google maps may show coming to our property from Savona but the easiest drive is from Kamloops. Please use the directions that get emailed to you just before your stay. To get here head to the Kamloops airport then follow Tranquille Criss Creek Road. We do not recommend traveling this road in the dark if you are not familiar with it! Wonderfully private! Come give our land some love as it recovers from the 2021 Sparks Lake forest fire. Acres and acres to hike, mountain bike and snowshoe. Surrounded by crown land there is no lack of space to explore and easy access to forest service roads to quad and bike. Many lakes near by for fishing and kayaking. Wildlife galore! There are wild flowers and plants so come forage and explore. Disconnect from the busyness of city life! It has a lovely forest area, alongside sprawling fields that are dotted with beautiful wildflowers throughout Spring and Summer. Another delightful feature of our home is a swamp that displays a spectacular array of bird wildlife in the spring and early summer. A bird watcher’s dream! And, if you are lucky, you may even see deer, beaver, bear, coyote, Marmot, or Western Painted Turtle roaming the property, all have been seen on the farm at one time or another, so keep your eyes peeled! We are close to amenities but are far enough out of town to provide a quiet and restful retreat from the hum and drum of every day life. Summer in the Okanagan. Akehurst Lake Wilderness Resort

A very remote, tranquil log cabin fishing camp hand-built in the 1960's. Akehurst Lake Wilderness Resort is only accessible by ATV (snowmobile in winter) or by foot (a 9-minute walk from the parking lot). There is no public access to the lake so it is wonderfully private & peaceful. We offer 5 cabins in total with some areas suitable for tents. There is a day-lodge with a kitchen and eating area for guest's use, kayaks, row boats, and a paddle board free for use as well as a wood-fired sauna! The lake is excellent for swimming. It is feet-friendly, shallow, and has no sudden drop-offs. And if you like to hike, fish or BOTH then this is the place for you. There are many nearby lakes that are a short drive/ride and hike away! Akehurst Lake does not have cell service or wifi. Lights are made possible by a gas generator in the evening. There is only cold running water in the day-lodge sink which is seasonal and depends on if the creek is running. Guests should be comfortable being in the woods and aware that if no one else is there, they will need to light the stove and fridge and operate the generator if needed. **Packing List** - Bedding (sheets & blankets or sleeping bag. Pillow covers) - Extra pillows (we provide 2 per cabin. Ask if more are available before arrival) - Towel/face cloth - Dish cloth & Dish towels - Paper towel/napkins - Toilet rolls - Lighter for fires (if applicable). About

Less than a 30-minute drive from Kamloops in the BC Interior is Paul Lake Provincial Park. Seven kilometres of hiking trails lead to the steep summit of Gibraltar Rock with lovely views of Paul Lake below and Harper Mountain beyond. The park’s sole campground isn’t far from the 400-metre stretch of sandy beach on Paul Lake, which offers a nice spot for swimming, paddling, fishing for rainbow trout, and motorboating.

Tips for snagging a campsite

The Paul Lake Provincial Park campground opens in mid-May and remains open for reserved camping until the Labour Day long weekend. For the remainder of September the campground is open for first-come, first-served camping.
Of the 90 vehicle-accessible campsites, 47 are reservable in advance and the rest remain first-come, first-served. To make a reservation, book online on BC Parks’ Discover Camping website.
The campground opens at 7am daily. For a first-come, first-served site, get there early.

When to go

After September, the campground closes to all but self-contained campers, who can stay for free and without services in the day-use area until the end of October or when snow keeps vehicles from getting through. Weekends (especially long ones) are very popular, and it’s slightly quieter during the week. Remember that the region can get very hot in the peak of summer, when tent camping may be a little less comfortable. Spring and fall are generally less crowded and bring mild weather.

Know before you go

The park’s campground is not wheelchair accessible.
The dense Douglas fir forests are beautiful but prone to wildfires. Ensure you follow the guidelines for campfires, including any limited fire hours or fire bans.
