Lakeside Timbers

We are located on the edge of the wilderness just 30 minutes north of Victoria. Our camping area is very quiet and private. We are next to a spring fed lake that contains trout and small mouth bass and it is great for swimming during the summer months. There are no motor boats permitted on the lake, however it is perfect for paddle boards, floaties and kayaks. There are several walking trails throughout our 10 acre property and the Trans Canada Trail is just minutes away. We have a large lawn for playing frisbee or bocce ball and a corn hole pitch (also known as beanbag toss). There is a fire pit, pinic table, 2 patios with tables, chairs and umbrellas and a pit toilet. A sink and potable water are also available. We are situated in forested land on the edge of the wilderness. There is deer, bear, cougar, beaver, martins and an abundance of birds in the area. This is a great location for those hiking or biking the Trans-Canada Trail. Adults and small dogs only. Currently our sites are only available on weekdays and is unavailable from November to the end of April.

Decourcy Meadows

Decourcy Meadows is a peaceful forested site within a short walking distance to a safe local swimming beach. We are an RV-only campsite. The site is level and can accommodate vehicles up to 40ft in length. Electrical, sewage, and potable water hookups included. Amenities include a picnic table, wifi and a fire ring and some fire wood supplied at no cost. If there is a campfire ban in effect we will provide a propane campfire. The property is about half natural forest and so it's not unusual to see local critters, large and small peeking out! There are several hiking trails in the area and local parks as well. There are 3 artisans on Decourcy Drive. The world-famous Crow and Gate pub is 4 km from here and the historic Wheat Sheaf Hotel (Pub) is about 5 km. Local restaurants and Cafes, Groceries, Pharmacy are 5 km. We are a quiet country getaway located 25 minutes from Nanaimo Departure Bay Ferry Terminal. Duke Point Terminal is about 20 minutes. Picturesque town of Ladysmith is about 25 minutes south and the very Unique town of Chemainus is 35 minutes and very worth seeing.

The property is 1.5 acres in total set amidst rural surroundings. It is a very quiet and peaceful community set on the shores of the lake and surrounded by magnificent trees and greenery. There is limited bus service about a 20 minute walk away so a car is recommended. We are about a 25 minute drive away from Sidney, where most people will arrive by plane or ferry from the mainland, and also about 25 minutes away from downtown Victoria. The driveway from the street up to the front of our house is a paved sloped driveway and from there the access to the camping site is a sloped and curving dirt road. You don’t need a four-wheel-drive to get up it. We just want to be sure you are aware. The area itself is a level piece of ground to the side of our house. It is big enough for a small camper van and a tent. Please note it’s not a camping space like you would find in a provincial park. There’s no picnic bench or fire pit. In any case open flames are not allowed due to municipal regulations. Portable propane powered camping stoves are fine. We can supply a couple of plastic chairs and a small cocktail sized table. The facilities are comprised of a toilet in a small room in our basement and a utility sink just outside, accessed through the sunroom and down the back stairs. Pets are welcome, but must be on a leash or otherwise kept under control and not allowed to run loose. We have three cats ourselves, but they are 100% indoor cats and we do not let them into the sunroom when we have hip campers . There is no bath or shower available. You are advised to bring your own face and/or hand towels if needed. You also need to be prepared to take away your own recycling, garbage and organics.

McAllister Creek Farm is pleased to offer a unique and rustic country stay in our 24’ Yurt, Log Cabin Bunkhouse and Gypsy Wagon overlooking the pond. The yurt sleeps 3-4 with a king sized bed and futon, the Log Cabin sleeps 3 with a bunk-bed that pulls out to a double on the bottom bunk. Accommodations include the use of the Gypsy Wagon that serves as the Kitchen with full-size fridge, convection/air fryer oven, 2 electric burners and all kitchen accessories. Outside is a bbq and propane firepit. The washroom building includes an outhouse and shower with a view of the pond. Please note if you book either the Yurt or the Log Cabin there is a chance the other is occupied by other guests and the Washroom Building and Gypsy Wagon Kitchen will be shared. It’s a wonderful space to drink in nature and create some well-deserved peace and tranquility. You are welcome to stroll on the path along the pond around the farm and hang out with the herd of friendly goats and visit with the Scottish Highland Coos. For a limited time only there are lots of baby goats to cuddle! Your neighbours in the adjoining pasture Stanley and Ollie the resident donkeys will be your wakeup call. The Yellowpoint area has a lot of great parks and features, within a short drive you can check out Yellowpoint Park for a nice walk through the woods, and if you want to see the ocean, Roberts Memorial Park, Cable Bay Trail and Blue Heron Park are all quite spectacular. Blue Heron is great for swimming in the heat of the summer as well, quite rocky so take water shoes. Exploring a bit farther away will take you to the top of Mt Benson in Nanaimo (a 900m hike) or WildPlay Nanaimo has a fun filled day of adventure courses. Local farm stands and artisans are in abundance. The Cedar Market just a few kms away has a great farmers market on Sundays and Duncan has their Farmers Market on Saturdays. Nearby restaurants are the Wheatsheaf Pub a local favourite located 12 mins away by car in the neighbouring community of Cedar. The Cranberry Arms pub is a bit further down the road from the Wheatsheaf and is great for a casual bite. The Crow and Gate is a very short drive away and is famous for its English pub charm. The Mahle House in Cedar is a higher end restaurant and Coco's Cafe is a great spot for a coffee or lunch. Ideal spot for campers looking to stay 1-2 nights. Great as a stopover to Tofino. Perfect for couples or groups of two, with a maximum of 4 campers. Our 33+ acre, picturesque, tranquil property is situated in the Tamihi Recreational Area just south of Chilliwack, British Columbia. Three sides of the property are heavily forested with the Chilliwack River bordering the fourth side. It's only 20 minutes from town but far enough to enjoy the peaceful and serene offerings of nature. The property has a 20 x 60' covered picnic area, a large beach suitable for swimming in summer and fall, and it is also a world-class fishing spot. It has unlimited mountain trails and logging roads for ATVs, mountain bikers/hikers and with Class I - IV rapids, is also a fantastic area for whitewater kayaking and rafting. The national kayaking team trains just up from us and Chilliwack River Rafting is very close by. We occasionally host weddings in the meadow and covered picnic area as well. Your QUIET, well-mannered, leashed (at all times) pet is welcome as long as you pick up after them. There is a minimum of 3 nights on long weekends. Children MUST be accompanied by a parent at all times! We are in a very sensitive, natural environment & want it left exactly as you found it so it can be enjoyed by others. We've unfortunately had children cutting down small trees, ripping moss & bark off of trees & damaging playground equipment. For some reason Hipcamp doesn't show my individual sites, so I will list them here. Some say Adults only (a minimum of 19 yrs)due to sharp drop offs to the river and undercut banks that would be unsafe for children. SITES: Site 21. Site 25 Across the road from the river, but still with a river view. 37 W' x 32'D Site 26. Across the road from river with view, 20'D x 31'W + an extra 9' W x 15'L strip across the front. Site 27. Quite private, but connects with Site 28. 38'W x 52'L Site L1. Adults only (19+) This site has a beautiful full view of the river. 39'D x 23'W connects with L2 on the left and; 48 on the right. Site L2. Adults only (19+) Beautiful river view! Connects with L1 on the right. 39'D x 20'W. Site L4. Adults only (19+) Private site with full river view. 30’L x 35’W Best for under 25' due to a narrow entrance. Site L6. Some river view through the trees. The Gertie Bus is located a 5 min walk to a beautiful white sand beach (at low tide). There are walking trails all around and lots of beach access. Tucked into the front of our property in the quiet of Gabriola island you’ll find the converted Gertie bus with all the amenities you need. The bus has a gas stovetop/oven, bar fridge and sink with grey water system. Equipped kitchen and sofa area to hang out. The standard queen bed is great for sleeping in and relaxing with that second cup of coffee. Mountain biking, hiking, swimming and whale watching are just steps away. There is beach access across the street through a private park with picnic tables, a very old eagles nest and a private access to a rocky beach perfect for sunsets. The home itself has a pottery studio on the main floor with a full time studio Practice. Give Paige a ring if you’d like a tour, she’s usually working away. Our family lives on the top floor. Outside the bus is are lush veggie gardens, fruit trees and a nice private outdoor dining area. A BBQ and solar lights also help with evening hangouts. Family friendly! Also we love animals but we ask that you clean up after your pet and keep any animals that aren’t so great with kids and other animals on leash. We have a dachshund on the property that is friendly and old ( barks at strangers but is all bark I assure you, he just wants to be friends)

Living Large on Chilliwack River

Enjoy the beautiful acres right on the Chilliwack River! A wonderful family-friendly (including pets!) getaway with endless activities nearby. Our campsite is available in the spring and summer and is just 20 minutes from the city of Chilliwack, BC. We provide a fire pit and campfires are allowed as long as there is no fire ban. The sites are quite private but there will be other campers nearby. We try to keep a large amount of space between sites and some are separated by trees. We are a walk in tent only site- parking is very close, 30 second walk. We can also provide access to electricity so you can charge your phones or other devices if needed. There is no cell reception, but we do have wifi. Potable water is available. We supply natural spring water but you must bring your own jug. We live in an adventure playground! Activities nearby include hiking, white rapid river rafting, fishing, watching bald eagles, Cultus Lake water slides and adventure park, mountain biking, and more! The stargazing at night is beautiful as there is no light pollution here. We look forward to hosting you!

Hayward Farms

We have a 7 acre developing hobby farm currently with fruit trees, a garden, some chickens, a shepherd named Jack and a few cats. Our property backs onto Hayward Lake which is great for paddle boarding, kayaking and swimming. There are hiking trails to Ruskin Dam and around Hayward Lake. You can also enjoy fishing/floating across the street at the Stave River. You can also take a short drive (5 minutes) over the Ruskin Dam where there is a parking lot and a well groomed trail which takes you to a sandy beach area…perfect for children. Just be sure to get there early to secure a spot. Rolley Lake is also nearby…about a 10 minute drive, which is also great for having a picnic, canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding. It has a large designated swimming area too. A little further, at the North end of Hayward Lake is Hayward Park. This is another perfect picnic area with a large sandy beach area and designated swimming area. There are change rooms, showers and bathrooms. Lifeguards are on duty. Please get there early to get a spot. 2 km down Hayward Street, headed south, is a Starbucks as well as a few gas stations, Subway, Triple O’s and a Beer and Wine Store. Mission City is a 10 minute drive from our property. Please note that the trails to the lake from our property are not OUR trails and we are not responsible for grooming them. They are in fairly good condition and is a forest hike. The hike to the lake is about a 5 minute walk. There is one steep section so please make sure you wear proper footwear. The water access is from the shore. There is no beach at this location. You simply access the lake and either swim or relax on your floatation devices. Our driveway is a narrow, winding, uphill, gravel driveway that is 3/4 km long. It does have a few potholes (which we maintain annually). There are a few hairpin corners which can make it difficult for inexperienced drivers and for larger vehicles. Four-wheel drive is recommended, but not necessary. Take the corners wide and avoid cutting the corners too tightly. Avoid stopping on the driveway and just go slow and steady. We have 7 campsites to choose from, we hope that you enjoy your stay! Site 1 - Is located on one of the deep, hairpin corners of the driveway. This is a future glamp site location. This site faces the Stave River (west) where you have gorgeous sunsets. Site 2 - Is located above Site 1 at the next hairpin corner of the driveway (about 300 feet away), also facing west. This is also a future glamp site location. PLEASE NOTE THAT SITES 1 AND 2 ARE JUST OFF OUR DRIVEWAY, SO PLEASE EXPECT SOME MINOR TRAFFIC. THESE SITES HAVE A ROUGH TOILET SYSTEM - 5 GALLON BUCKET WITH WOOD SHAVINGS AND SNAP ON TOILET LID. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN TOILET PAPER. Site 3 - Our WEE LITTLE CAMPSITE. This is our smallest campsite. It too is located on our driveway; just adjacent to the driveway. Late spring and early fall you get beautiful sunsets. This site is good for 2 adults only (NO KIDS). It is located just above a large downhill slope. It too has a Rough toilet system / compost toilet. Again, because it is on our driveway please expect some occasional traffic passing by. We can make arrangements for you to park your vehicle elsewhere if you find the site is too tight…just send us a message. Site 4 - Is a field site located at the top of the driveway, immediately to the right. This is currently our largest campsite. It is a good spot for larger groups. Has a compost toilet as indicated above. Again - bring your own toilet paper. Site 5 - Is located at the top of the property behind the stables. It shares a pit toilet with Site 6 which is nearby. Please bring your own toilet paper. Sites 5 and 6 are perfect to book together if you have a larger group. Site 6 - Is located at the top of the property, behind the stables. It shares a pit toilet with site 5, which is nearby. BRING YOUR OWN TOILET PAPER. These two campsites are perfect for larger groups. These two campsites are closest to the trail that leads to the lake. Please note that the trail is not our property and belongs to BC Hydro. Some of our other campers may be walking through to access the trail. Note that sites 4, 5 and 6 are in proximity to our neighbours house, however there are a number of trees that do block the view to the neighbours house. OVERFLOW SITE - This site is reserved typically for campers with small children as it is located in our fenced in yard. No pets are allowed in this area. This has a compost toilet so please bring your own toilet paper. Note that we get our water from our shallow well. This well typically runs dry in the summer months, so we do not have drinking water available. We do have non-drinking water available at the house which is good for washing dishes if needed. However it is best that you bring your own drinking water. We do have plans for a more permanent water system in the future. Given that we are a small hobby farm we do have some chickens and a rooster. The neighbours also have a rooster so do expect to hear them early in the morning…this is part of the camping experience. We are also about 5 km from the train tracks and you will hear the trains occasionally at night. Note that we do not allow smoking on our property simply to avoid the possibility of a forest fire.
