Otherwise Farm

1 site · RV9 acres · Wenatchee, WA
RV spot up to 40' with hookup for water, septic and power. Located above Wenatchee with open vistas of the Cascades. Nearest neighbor 1/4 mile away. Wenatchee is 12 miles away, 35 miles to the Gorge Amphitheater, 30 miles to Leavenworth and 45 miles to Lake Chelan. This is an farming area with cherry orchards 200 feet from the site. It is busy during cherry harvest (4th of July through end of July) with regular chemical sprays being applied by our neighbors from April through September so if you are sensitive to agricultural chemicals this site is not recommended. Also be advised we're on top of a mountain and can get quite breezy at times. Pets are welcome but should be supervised due to predators (primarily coyotes and various birds of prey). And the chickens, I have a friend raising chickens on the upper part of the property where they mostly just make routine chicken noises but there are some roosters that seem to be nocturnal which some folks can find annoying. We also have varying numbers of snakes as the weather warms up some years they are more prevalent than others (contact me if you are concerned for a snake report). On the bright side we don't have any wasps or mosquitoes. This site is available once the snow melts and the mud dries up, typically mid-March until it begins freezing on a regular basis which varies but not much past mid October.

The best camping near Alta Lake State Park guide

Overview

About

Surround yourself with mountains on all sides within this state park. Fishing, a swim beach, and hiking trails put you close to nature. Among Washington State Parks, Alta offers a secluded retreat away from the crowds. The area continues to recover from a wildfire in 2014 that scorched many trees here.

Put your boat in the lake for fishing fun during warm summer months. Trout don't have many places to hide. That's because the lake is just 2 miles long and half a mile wide. Feel free to water ski, jet ski, and windsurf, as well.

Hike the 2 miles of trails that take you around the lake. If you're feeling adventurous, head up to the top of Old Goat Mountain, one the nearby peaks. You can probably see most of the lake from a mountaintop vantage point. Peaks rise 1,000 feet above the lake.

The campground offers a base of operations to explore the surrounding area. Alta Lake Golf Course is within view of the lake. There are 93 tent spots and 32 utility sites with full hook-ups.

Notable campgrounds

  • Standard Campsites - Enjoy the classic camping experience with amenities close at hand.
  • Partial-hookup Sites - Ideal for those who prefer a few home comforts while surrounded by nature.
  • Group Campsites - Perfect for larger gatherings, these sites accommodate more guests in a communal setting.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  • Book early to secure your spot, as reservations fill up quickly during peak season.
  • Consider visiting during the week for better availability and a quieter experience.
  • Keep an eye on cancellations for last-minute opportunities.
  • Explore nearby camping options for alternative accommodations if the park is fully booked.

When to go

The prime time to visit Alta Lake State Park is between April and October, when the park is open and fully operational. Summer months offer warm weather perfect for water sports and hiking, while spring and fall provide a cooler, more tranquil park experience. Note that the park is closed from November 1st to March 30th, making winter visits impossible.

Know before you go

  • Remember to purchase a Discover Pass for park access, with annual and one-day options available.
  • Adhere to the burn ban levels and only light fires in designated pits and grills.
  • Check local ordinances, as waterskiing and personal watercraft use are restricted to 9am to 6pm.
  • Bring your furry friends along, but keep them on a leash for everyone's safety.
  • Accessible campsites and restrooms ensure an inclusive experience for all visitors.
