All to yourself
100% of recent Hipcampers say this Hipcamp felt private.
Please Note: This is an Adults Only Hipcamp Location. Enjoy your stay at Sunset Bay Getaway in your own self contained RV or camper and enjoy the views of our beautiful lake. Relax in the evening around the firepit. We do offer firewood for sale. Just enjoy being in nature, listening to the sounds of the frogs and birds. Grab a bite to eat at a local bar/restaurant 1 mile away. ATV trails, fishing, hunting and nature walks all available close by. Dogs allowed but must be leashed and cleaned up after. Adults only. We do not have hookups for water, sewer or electric. We do not have restrooms or any facilities for hipcampers to use. All Hipcampers must have self contained RV's/Campers. The driveway to the camping/parking spots is a tad of a slope so keep that in mind when booking. The max length we allow is 34 Feet long due to the road to the camping spots. You might drag your bumper or hitch on your way down the hill to the spot. It's not hard to drive, it just is a bit steep and only gravel. We are always here to help if need be when you arrive. Bring bug dope, the bugs can be very hungry right about dusk time til about 30 min after the sun goes down. If you have kayaks or paddleboards you are welcome to bring them and enjoy the lake. Watercraft (boats/jet ski's) not allowed. This is a primitive camping spot, meaning no hook ups or WiFi. (no water/sewer/electric/wifi)Lake View Under the Stars - Please Note: Adults Only. Pull down into the yard and nestle yourself under the stars between the cabin and the big tall white pine, with a nice view of the lake depending on how you park your camper/RV. Sit on the dock and watch the lake, relax in the evenings by the firepit, or just sit and soak in the sunsets and night sky. Firewood can be purchased thru Hipcamp or when you are here. A short 1 mile walk or drive is a local bar/restaurant if you want to grab food and drink. Looking to go for a boat ride? We can take you out for a relaxing ride around the lake. Tips appreciated for that. If you have kayaks or paddleboards you are welcome to bring them and enjoy the lake on your own. Dogs are welcome but must be leashed and cleaned up after. We have 3 resident dogs who have free roam of our property. Please be kind to our pets. Close by are ATV trails, hiking trails, many lakes for fishing or kayaking, and hunting areas. If you are a bird hunter this is a nice area for some walking in the woods and hunting. If you have any questions, feel free to message me. We are 40 minutes from Two Harbors and 40 minutes from Duluth. The perfect getaway for anyone. Sunset Bay Getaway is adults only. Nobody under the age of 18 allowed. Please be aware that this is a primitive site. NO hookups (water/sewer/electric) and no WiFi. If you have AT&T you might have service, but any other carries generally do not work here.

We loved camping on Sheila’s property! She was extremely helpful and quick to respond to messages. She also greeted us upon arrival to chat for a bit and to see if there was anything we needed which was very kind! No cell service for me and I absolutely LOVED it!! When I go camping I don’t want to even think about my phone so I appreciated the lack of service. Great little spot to set up camp - extremely happy with our quick weekend trip! Bonus because there is an awesome bar a mile up the road from camp.

Absolutely perfect directions on how to get there and where to park. The lake was stunning, and I was tempted to kayak to the restaurant but chickened out. Great fire ring and plenty of space. Was perfectly private without feeling ignored. Sheila was super attentive and a great host. Would stay here again for sure.

Beautiful, spacious spot on Smith Lake that we had all too ourselves! Not too far from Two Harbors and State Parks on Hwy 61. Sheila and Tony were great hosts, we would definitely Hipcamp there again! Thoroughly enjoyed our time there !
