Located on the stunning Tumut River, where cool groves of black wattle line the riverbank, offering shade, privacy, and comfort. Here you have clear Snowy River water at your doorstep. It's so fresh we drink it!
Each camping site is by the river, prime position for fishing, canoeing, and swimming. Based on availability, you are welcome to choose your spot on arrival. All options are grassed and level.
You will have access to a pit toilet, otherwise, please BYO facilities. Small campfires are welcome in the fire pits provided, or BYO firepit (permitting there are no restrictions in place at the time). Firewood can be purchased at the time of booking.
We're pet-friendly, so you're welcome to bring your four-legged friends along! Please note, however, that we are a working farm and as such farm activities are going on, and we have resident animals, so please keep your pets under control at all times.
Also, please ensure kids are supervised at all times, particularly around the river. Lifejackets are recommended.
During your time here, visit the local farm gates in Tumut, Batlow, Tumbarumba, and Adelong for their delicious high-country produce. There are also some beautiful swimming spots and walks to discover in the region, as well as good facilities in town, including the local swimming pool and shopping centre. Enjoy a local brew and bite to eat at the Tumut brewery. Bahwidgee is just 3km from the Tumut town centre - so close you could ride in, or even walk.
Wayne's campsite near the Tumut River offers a serene and spacious setting ideal for relaxation. Campers appreciated the ease of access, clean facilities, and the chance to mingle with friendly cows. Visitors were fond of the river's refreshing waters and the convenience of nearby Tumut for supplies or a coffee. However, a few campers noted the presence of cow manure and fast river currents, which may require attention.
It is a lovely spot right next to the river. There were quite a few people there but everyone had their own space and were all really respectful. Very quiet at night. We would come backagain.
Great spot by the river. Nice and quite. Nice place to take a refreshing dip in the river. Only one suggestion... would have been nice to have toilet paper at the pit toilet. However, would still recommend.
Excellent off grid camping, kids thoroughly enjoyed the abundance of cows that came over to our campsite regularly - granted we didn’t realise we had setup camp at their drinking hole! But it made for great entertainment! Loads of space for the kids to run around, kick balls, ride bikes etc. And a great location only being a couple minutes out of Tumut in case you forget any necessities but it feels like you’re far out of the hustle and bustle! Will definitely be back! Thanks Wayne!
Beautiful natural escape along the river avoiding the commercialism of big camps. Easy to book access & enjoy with like minded users. Peaceful aesthetics, spacious with small fireplaces & pit toilet. Will revisit.
