Escape to New River Ridge, a stunning 14-acre retreat nestled atop a wooded ridge just 20 minutes from bustling West Jefferson, NC. Here, you'll be enveloped by breathtaking long-range mountain views and the serene beauty of nature, making it the perfect getaway for peace and relaxation. Our property features a flat, open ridge and a dedicated deck with comfy adirondack chairs and a cozy fire pit perfectly positioned for enjoying beautiful sunrises, mountain views, fall colors and evenings under the stars. Whether you’re sharing stories, making s'mores, or just reflecting on the beauty of Mother Nature, this spot is designed for unforgettable moments. Experience the beauty of sunrise over the mountains each morning, and enjoy the privacy and tranquility that our expansive grounds offer. Just a short drive away, you can indulge in a variety of outdoor activities: fish or kayak on the pristine North Fork New River or Helton Creek just seconds away. Hike in the stunning Grayson Highlands State Park just across the Virginia line, or explore the iconic Appalachian Trail. Check out the Virginia Creeper Trail, a historic railroad turned biking trail, for an epic cruise down a mountain. Pop down to the iconic, small town main street of Jefferson Ave. in West Jefferson to visit local coffee and retail shops, restaurants, outfitters and breweries. At New River Ridge, you’ll find the perfect blend of natural beauty, privacy, and proximity to incredible attractions. Come and create lasting memories in this picturesque mountain paradise! This site requires 4WD and will be closed in wet weather. You must arrive in daytime as navigating the road to the site is difficult at night. At least for now (we're building a new road!), the road is not completely graveled and has tight switchbacks and steep grades. Even when dry, this requires high clearance 4WD and comfort driving on narrow, rough, mountain roads. When wet, the road is not passable and the site cannot be reached. Perfect for overland adventures! The Mountain View Platform site atop New River Ridge in a prime location for long range Mountain View’s and morning sunrise. This flat grassy site Includes a wooden platform with Adirondack chairs and a Solo Stove for night time stargazing or can be used to setup a tent pad. Flat parking available behind the platform is perfect for truck camping / overlanding rigs and provides easy access to your campsite.

All I can say is the view is amazing. Great campus spot, secluded and private. Matt communicated very well. If you get a chance and have four-wheel-drive, I would definitely pick this spot. We will be back again..

Firstly, the view is unmatched. That coupled with the privacy, this is my new favorite campsite. The wooden deck is a very convenient feature. Makes cooking and lounging that much easier. The only "complaint" (I use this word very lightly) I would have is the trail to get up to the campsite. It is in the process of being graded and laid with gravel so it was hectic going up and down. Matt was very communicative about this and we came prepared, so it really wasn't a problem. Once that trail is finished I don't know if I could think of a single negative thing about this site. If you're on the fence about booking here, just do it. It was 15° for our first night and we only had 3 season gear. Somehow we didn't freeze to death, but the view made it worth it. I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Matt has a spectacular campsite with wonderful long-distance views. The site is very private and quiet, a great place to find some peace and enjoy nature. The wood deck is a great place to enjoy the sunrise with coffee and the smokeless fire pit is a major plus. My only regret was having to limit my trip to one night. I highly recommend New River Ridge!

Private breathtaking view
Tent
Matt’s campsite provided a secluded, tranquil, and quiet oasis with a stunning 360 degree view of NC’s mountains that were still in peak fall foliage. The area was clean and well maintained, with the chairs and fire pit being a nice touch. Everything he says in the listing is 100% accurate, so read the listing in full and ensure your car is 4WD and you have enough necessary materials for your trip to stay up on the mountain. So glad we found this campsite!
