www.ontop.camp STATUS of OT DOT CAMP 10.09.202 Welcome! 03.11.25 ~ alt path up sunrise mountain is clear now after the hurricane! Trout Lillies should be opening soon, sunrise mountain hike might offer viewing opportunities Our farm is vast and sparse, focusing on sustainability while giving back to the community. We are a safe haven for animals and humans alike. Situated on and between two peaks of Little Phoenix Mountain range in Jefferson Ashe County. Our sites’ altitudes range from 3100 feet to over 3600 feet, which is a lot of slope and hillside to say the least. As a guest you will be offered insane long views and limited exposure to the oldest registered breed of bovine in the world. Our Scottish Highland Cattle are majestic and fit in quite well in the NC mountainside. Located in the Blue Ridge mountains, we have natural water springs popping out, some of which are tapped to drink from. (10.1.23 currently farm springs are not accessible to guests, shatley springs up the road approx 4miles north has a public spring that we highly recommend) If you are looking for a camping spot that is only 5-10 minutes from town (Jefferson NC or the quaint Downtown West Jefferson) but feels like you're in the middle of no where, then we have it! The Blue Ridge Parkway is less than 20 minutes away and the New River equally close. Looking Forward: July update. We are currently working on provided an all downhill mountain bike trail from 3600 to 3150ft. This path will be double wide for the most part and wide open at first to soak in the se view. Will update when completed! *a ride back up for your bike and yourself will be scheduled if requested OnTopOfTheWorld.camp *firewood is available if you pay on site you will have to use Venmo/Paypal *We do not allow any harvesting of campfire wood or burning of our property outside of the designated fire ring. We use any downed wood on our property for our family to keep warm and to cut and split ourselves to sell to our guest. A “full nights worth” of campfire wood is roughly a 3 x 2 stacked pile of wood keeping you warm all night. Please let us know ahead so we can prepare it for you OnTop.camp

Beautiful views and quiet spots set far apart. Definitely need 4wd or all wheel drive to get to sites, it's bumpy in some spots not horrible. Would definitely go again.

My wife Dogs and I took a trip from GA to the NC mountains for a great camping trip. We were hit with a cold spell just after arriving. Having the Huskys enjoying every minute of it with us was well worth the snow. We thoroughly enjoyed and can't wait to return.

Beautiful views
Really great site! Views were awesome and it felt very private, even with 2 other campsites nearby. Appreciated the communication from the host and hospitality!!

Mountain camping

Perched on a mountain, this stunning campsite offers an unforgettable outdoor experience. The drive up is an adventure in itself – just make sure your vehicle can handle mountain roads! We stayed at Site 1, which boasts breathtaking views and plenty of space to spread out. Being on the mountain's slope, it's not perfectly level, so bring leveling blocks if you're planning to sleep in your vehicle. While other sites might offer flatter terrain, each has its own unique charm. The hospitality here is outstanding. Jon, the host, and his friend Johnny went above and beyond, even delivering firewood to our site. Their friendly presence added to the welcoming atmosphere. One of the best perks is the proximity to downtown West Jefferson. We loved being able to pop into town for excellent dining and shopping, then return to our peaceful mountain retreat. The balance of scenic solitude and nearby amenities made our stay perfect. If you're seeking spectacular views and tranquility with the convenience of town nearby, this site is an absolute gem. Highly recommended!

Another great stay at site 2 on Jon’s land. Sunrise views are directly in front of the site, and are amazing. Great panoramic views of the mountains in general! Jon is extremely friendly and helpful if you need anything. Brought our 2 dogs and it was a perfect place for them to camp leash-free. Looking forward to my next stay!
