The cabin sits at the end of an unmaintained, unimproved, dirt road that becomes impassible during winter snow events and summer monsoon rains! The Painted Desert Ranger Cabin is a backcountry, off grid cabin acquired by Ranger Ross in 2011. Ranger Ross lived in the cabin while he worked as a resource protection ranger at the Petrified Forest National Park. The ranger cabin is a rustic off grid cabin that offers no amenities. There is no concierge, room service, or continental breakfast. There is no linen service or fancy little bottles of shampoo. It does however, offer beautiful views of the Painted Dessert wilderness, quiet serenity, and amazing star gazing opportunities. All from the comfort of a cozy one room cabin with a queen size bed and a flush toilet. The ranger cabin sits on the border of the north wilderness area of the Petrified Forest National Park. You can book the new Tent Cabana-The Shady Rest- listing or you can dry camp by booking through my Tent and Vehicle Camping listing. There are no exact designated spaces for tent/vehicle camping. You can choose where you prefer to camp. The Shady Rest is weather-proof. The other cabana has a shade fabric top and it has a fire pit. There is a restroom/breakfast room off the pool area. This fall/winter I am offering 2 guest rooms which are located inside of my house. One room is off the pool, the Tropical Room, the other room faces the front gardens, the Garden Room. Those room share a full guest bath, laundry, entrance door and coffee and coffee cake breakfast. Limit 2 people per room. The pool and pool house are available for your enjoyment. The pool house can also be used as a bedroom if weather is poor. I also have walking trails here. This is my private property, you and your gear are safe and secure. You can leave your campsite and go exploring, no one will bother your stuff. I have WiFi and great cell service here. You may have coffee with my horses if you like. There is a place to sit in the barn. They will munch hay and look at you. If you would like to feed them just ask me and I will show you what they can have. There are lots of birds and some rabbits. I share it with the local wildlife. I am located just over an hour away from Tucson and 25 minutes off the 10. My place is 10 minutes from Coronado National Forest. The property is tranquil, peaceful, and quiet. We have beautiful sunsets and views all around. I supply the music, the resident Cactus Wrens, quail and assorted songbirds will sing to you all day long. You will see a lot of quail and other birds on the property. There are 2 varieties of quail who visit daily. And you will see Desert Cardinals, Cactus Wrens, Curved Billed Thrashers and all the song birds. My neighbours and I all have 4 acres minimum so no one is super close by. You can come here, walk or bike around, and walk your pets without being bothered by other dogs. This is a very safe and comfortable place for solo campers and families to enjoy! My ranch has a friendly, family-style vibe. This is staying at your friend's place. (unless your friends are losers.) Dry campers- Off the pool area there is a clean restroom in my back garage and a sink with hot water. There is a clean refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker available for your use. Meadview Arizona was founded in 1826 by Jedediah Smith on his Southwest Expedition in search for Beaver! Staying a small remote and quiet town it can feel like it would have in the Wild West. We obtained our campground from a couple that owned it for 20 years but just weren't able to do to it what they had originally planned.. So it was essentially a blank canvas for us to create!! We are the closest town to the Grand Canyon SKYWALK, which is just 40 minutes from us. Meadview, the town we are located, is the only place to obtain Free Entree to the Lake Mead Recreational Center. Our Campground just 10 miles from Lake Mead and 17 Miles from the Colorado River. We have outstanding Lookouts, Top notch Stargazing, Gold Prospecting, Bird Watching, Fishing, Off Roading etc. Some of the Best Desert Off-Roading through trails within the Joshua Tree National Forest, Please note you must bring your own OHV, horse, etc, there is currently no rentals available. We do have Kayaks to rent upon arrival. There is a hidden water fall in the Grapevine Wash that you can get to with a 4 wheel vehicle and you hike in about 15 minutes in. Stunning views and gorgeous natural spring and waterfall. We are 45 minutes off the 93 Freeway Free WIFI provided at the office!.. The town doesn't always have a powerful signal, please keep that in mind in your travels. However, if you have Verizon, it gets GREAT service! There are three restaurants in town, all just one mile from site... The Boathouse, Anchor Smokehouse and Fishermans Landing Bar. We have a Bakery called Rosemary and Thyme that serves Delicious foods & Pastries and makes great coffees. There is also a Gas n Grub that has ice, propane etc... 5 miles away is a Family Dollar store which we lovingly call the "Mall of Meadview"

We are currently in the process of adding 2 more accommodations, a silo and a cave, that will be available by Summer 2024. Each glamping tent and cabin is about 30 yards apart from one another. We provide all linens and towels for guests, AC/Heater units and hot/cold water year-round. We're located at the border of Utah and Arizona in Cane Beds, AZ. It's a very isolated area with 2-3 dining options and a large full-sized grocery store (Bee's Marketplace) less than 10 minutes away! Cane Beds, Arizona has beautiful sandstone formations & attractions such as nearby Water Canyon Trailhead, Gooseberry Mesa and Maxwell Park. The terrain is very similar to Zion National Park. This region is especially known for hiking, mountain biking and ATV trails. We're also conveniently located 40 min from Kanab, which is a town full of trails and hikes with a ton of great stops on the way (Paria Townsite, The Toadstools, Wirepass to Buckskin Gulch, The Wave, Grand Staircase Escalante). What's even better is the property backs onto the National Forest, for unlimited enjoyment of nature. In the evening crack open a book, or start playing a game with your besties to close out a long day. The kitchen sink has a hand pump that draws water from under the sink from a 10 gallon water jug. You can refill the jug as needed from a hand pump located in the back yard. There is solar powered lighting and a USB phone charger station. There is no electrical power available. Cell service is available in the area depending on your carrier. The outdoor composting toilet is super clean with little or no odor. The cabin is located at 8200' in the San Francisco Peaks in the pines and aspens. Snowshoe or cross country ski, go sledding or snowmobiling, or just good old fashioned relaxation will make the time fly by. The area is considered suburban ranch, so other homes on 3-4 acre lots are visible. Our land abuts Saguaro National Park West, 1/4 mile past the Belmont Trailhead. It is the only camping area on the readily accessible eastern side of Saguaro NP's west unit.
