Piney Hills Campground

17 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents106 acres · Mauk, GA
We purchased this property to have a homestead and a place to get away from the stress and demands of city life. We have over 100 acres here and lots of animals on our farm that you can see and visit from the campground. We also have hiking trails through approximately 80 acres in the back of the property with steep hills and ravines to hike or bring your mountain bikes! It’s very quiet here except for the sounds of the farm animals and roosters crowing in the morning. You can also hear the occasional train passing through nearby. If you enjoy seeing the stars you will really enjoy it here the sky is very dark at night. Don't forget to bring your flashlights. Lol! We have several spacious sites to choose from including~ 2 platform sites, 2 A-frame cabins with AC/heat, 3 primitive tent sites, 1 RV that is fully hooked up, and 10 RV sites with power and water and sewer available. Each site is set up with a fire pit, picnic table, and camp grill. All campers have access to our 2 bath-houses with hot/cold showers and flushable toilets. We just finished building our RV park with 10 sites with electric and water hook-ups that is NOW OPEN!- with a brand new 4 stall Bath-house, Laundry Facility and more sites to come later. You may also visit the farm animals, we have lots of them. Mini-ponies, zebu cows, ducks, chickens, turkeys, rabbits, sheep, goat and a EMU!! We have over 60 acres of hiking/bike trails. We hope to have E-bike/golf cart rentals for our licensed guests soon. We can't wait to see you! Book your site today!

Running Water Creek

23 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents120 acres · Guild, TN
Running Water Creek is a unique, fully off grid campground just 20 minutes to downtown Chattanooga. We have 80+ campsites spread out over 120 acres. Most of the roads are accessible in any small car, but some roads require 4x4 (they're marked with a sign). We have a bath house with toilets, showers, and sinks and even offer hot water! Our well and cabins are all solar powered as we are not on the electric grid. Some info about the property: -we DO NOT have water or power hookups -we have gravel roads with a 5 MPH speed limit on the property (if you drive too fast the roads will seem rough) -we are right next to a highway and train tracks so there will be some noise (some days are better than others and we have no way of predicting how many trains will/will not go by) -none of our campsites have picnic tables (please plan accordingly) -most campsites have fire rings built, but if you choose a site without one you need to build your own

Camp with rescue cats

3 sites · RVs, Tents6 acres · Griffin, GA
Learn more about this land:Snuggle rescue cats on our Halloween themed property. Located about 15 minutes from Senoia GA (for those walking dead fans), we have forest and field spots ideal for pitching a tent and enjoying our picturesque and unique property. Our hand raised resident turkeys and geese wander the property. so please keep dogs leashed during the day or until we lock up the birds for the evening.. Our famous rescue house cats “The Acro Cats” are frequently in their outdoor Catio and we can arrange a purrsonal visitation for a donation to our rescue. They love attention and may even perform a trick or two. Our “haunted theme” tour bus serves as a common area and has a kitchen, with a sink, microwave, toaster and refrigerator. There is also a large screen TV with a DVD player. WiFi is iffy and depends on the weather. There is also a bathroom with a toilet, sink and semi working shower. (Hoping to get it fully working). Soap and Hand sanitizer is also provided. The back of the bus is available for sleeping for an extra fee. It has 4 built in bunks and we can even provide overnight feline companionship with some of our foster kittens. We have one large fire pit area and a smaller portable one, depending on the site. Firewood can be scavenged in the forest or we can provide a bundle for a small fee. We have some lighting, but flashlights and headlamps are recommended since the terrain is uneven in some spaces. We have one spot that an RV or trailer can pull into as well. It is fairly level, but you may need to make adjustments. For tent sites we can run a standard electric cord out to you, depending on how close you are to the main house. Or you can use the common area for electrical needs.

Luxury RV camping in Georgia guide

Overview

Whether you’re exploring the Appalachian peaks and Blue Ridge Mountains of the north, road-tripping through the heartlands, or hopping between beaches, marshes, and barrier islands along the Atlantic coast—the Peach State has a camping experience to suit all tastes. Take your pick of 50 Georgia state parks, 11 national parks, and two national forests, with miles of trails and endless options for RV and tent camping, glamping, and backcountry campsites. With mild winter temperatures, camping trips are possible year-round, but spring and fall provide the best weather for outdoor activities, and southern summers are best enjoyed by the water.

Where to go

Atlanta & North Georgia

The north Georgia mountains provide some of the state’s best camping and hiking terrain, including part of the Appalachian Trail. The vast Chattahoochee National Forest is dotted with historic sites and campgrounds, while cascading waterfalls, RV camping, and glampsites await at Amicalola Falls State Park. Canyon hikes and waterfalls are among the highlights at Tallulah Gorge State park and Cloudland Canyon State Park (the latter also has yurts for rent), and Red Top Mountain State Park lies less than an hour from the state capital, Atlanta.

Central Heartlands

Augusta, Athens, and Macon have a rich musical legacy—artists from James Brown to Otis Redding hail from these parts—plus some of Georgia’s best camping right on their doorstep. Head to Mistletoe State Park to hike, kayak, and fish on the shores of Clarkes Hill Lake; snag an RV campsite or cabin at George L. Smith State Park; or rent a cozy cottage at Indian Springs State Park.

South Georgia

Rolling farmlands form the backdrop for a road trip through South Georgia, perhaps checking into an RV park in one of the many small towns along the way. The region’s most impressive hiking trails are found in Providence Canyon State Park, along with backcountry tent sites, while Stephen C. Foster State Park is an International Dark Sky Park and a wildlife haven set on the banks of the Okefenokee Swamp.

Coastal Georgia

Georgia’s 100-mile slice of Atlantic coastline stretches down from Savannah to Cumberland Island, peppered with sandy beaches, saltwater marshes, and barrier islands. Rent a camper cabin or RV site with full hookups close to the beaches and waterways of Skidaway Island State Park, explore the biking trails or take a dolphin-spotting cruise around Tybee Island, or escape the crowds at the hike-in campsites along the Cumberland Island National Seashore.
