1 night at 15 Mile Stream Primitive Campground

The owner is very responsive and helpful. The site itself is soooo quiet and peaceful it’s how camping should be. No noise pollution whatsoever and you may even see a deer or turkey. Very secluded the entrance is at the two tall poles on the road and then your basically there.

2 nights at Moose Hill Cabin

This was an awesome find, The train was really fun to watch!!! I loved the cabin it was sooo cute, really fun time :)

3 nights at Trees of Life Retreat (ToLR)

Stayed at the Trees of Life Retreat two consecutive weekends with my two dogs. This was the perfect place for us. Quiet remote, clean, and fully outfitted with everything you need. Lindell is a kind and responsive host and the cabin is set up perfectly. When we arrived the cabin had a hot stove already set up and was totally warm so we could unpack and get comfortable right away which was a welcome touch very much appreciated. We stayed right at the end of March 1 week of April and the road up was heaving (no driving on it) so something to be aware of is you have to carry/wagon all of your gear up to the cabin - about a quarter mile away. Not the end of the world (we survived it), but definitely requires quite a bit of physical activity, depending on how much gear you bring. Anyway, I highly recommend the trees of life retreat. Had an amazing stay and definitely plan to come back for another visit sometime soon.

Maybe one of the best camping experiences we’ve had in Maine. The land is large, lots of space to wander around and explore. We didn’t see anyone the whole time. The cabin seems to have everything you could need. The google maps directions to the GPS coordinates on the listing try to take you the wrong way though! Make sure to read the directions in the app.

Mathew is a great host and steward of the land. I had a great stay and the yurt and property were just as described. Mind you, you are completely off the grid so treat it like tent camping and come in prepared. Leave it better than you found it.

Sadie’s cabin is cozy, quiet, well stocked, and in a beautiful part of the world. My only regret is that I brought too many of my own books to read- here’s are much more interesting! The best is super comfy and the fire really warms up the place. We look forward to coming back in different seasons!

Cliff went out of his way to make us comfortable—which included a lot of shoveling to access the yurt where we spent a lovely evening.

Weekend Trip to Slippery Rock Trails LLC

We had an absolutely amazing experience at John’s property, even in the freezing winter! The land itself was gorgeous, offering a peaceful and scenic escape despite the cold. What truly stood out was John’s incredible attentiveness—he went above and beyond to ensure our group was comfortable and well taken care of. Before our arrival, he plowed the snow for us and even personally escorted us to the campsite, which we really appreciated given the extreme temperatures. The porta potty was clean and well-maintained, making our stay even more convenient. While water wasn’t available due to the freezing conditions (understandably so), everything else was well-prepared, and we had a fantastic time. We’d love to revisit when the weather is warmer and fully enjoy everything this beautiful property has to offer. Highly recommend this campsite and John as a host!

Weekend Trip to Slippery Rock Trails LLC

I booked this hipcamp SUPER last minute, due to some rearrangements that couldn't be worked through with our first planned hipcamp. John was so accommodating and prompt with checking that the heat in the tiny house was working before he approved the booking in case it wasn't and we couldn't stay. well it was working, and we found the little gas powered fireplace to be so soothing and cozy. I have to give John kudos as well for taking his snowmobile and making us a path to sled with as well as bringing us sleds to borrow! my partner and i are full grown adults and we had the best time sledding down that hill. it was hard to walk back up (we are aging) but it was so worth it. we will definitely be returning!

Fresh powder, thick ice on the pond couldn't ask for anything better! Definitely recommend a snowmobile with significant snow! Absolutely beautiful out there.

Weekend Trip to Trees of Life Retreat (ToLR)

Third time here and I have to say it's still my favorite. It's quiet and remote. Lendell is an amazing host and replies quickly to all questions. The trails here are fun to explore, cabin was toasty and clean, and the local dear and birds came to say hi right in the yard. As long as you keep the wood stove going it will be a perfect cozy winter getaway.

Weekend Trip to Cabin of the Woods at Tilden Pond

I have left reviews before but this was my first time winter camping there. First , yes it was cold but if your prepared you should do just fine. I'm truly torn on if it's more beautiful in the summer or the winter! The fresh snow on the trees made for great scenery as we walked down to check out the pond. Although frozen, we choice to not press our luck lol. But I will be back for the beautiful fishing I know awaits. wildlife tracks everywhere! It was truly an experience and I look forward to another return!

1 night at Moose Hill Cabin

This little remote off grid cabin is adorable and Sadie keeps it very well stocked and has even left a little binder with general info, trails, and where to get groceries should you need to make a stop to replenish supplies. I would recommend bringing a cooler if you plan on bringing food with you as there is no fridge. There are many trails around if you like hiking and alot of bodies of water to go kayaking/canoeing. Keep in mind that cell service is non-existent near the cabin. You will be able to connect to satellite for texts/location share. We enjoyed our time and will be back in Spring to explore on kayaks!

Great synchronicity led us to the wild 30 acres of marsh and woodland that is Turtle Marsh. In addition to making a home here, we dedicating the area as a sanctuary for the quiet enjoyment of nature, eco-spiritual practices and healing. Guests may elect to experience a daily hour-long "Ecospiritual Immersion" walk as part of their stay. These will be led by Ecospiritual Guide and "Wild Mind, Wild Heart" author, Peter Wohl. He has led ecospiritual workshops and retreats for over 20 years. There is a network of trails on our property for enjoying quiet, contemplative walks. In the evenings, weather permitting, there will also be an opportunity for an informal campfire discussion with Peter. There is an additional fee for the walks and campfires. There are several trailheads for the Hills to Sea Trail within a mile of our property. The quintessential New England waterfront town of Belfast on Penobscot Bay, is less than 30 minutes away. One of our favorite spots for quiet hikes along the shore of the bay, is Sears Island. It is one of the largest undeveloped islands on the east coast, that is connected to the mainland by a causeway. The island is 50 minutes away and even on the busiest summer days, its's usually possible to find a quiet spot on the shore to sit and reflect. As we continue to deepen our relationship with this land, we are trying to follow the principles of Deep Ecology in all of our interactions. Our tentsite, while only a 5 minute walk from the road, has been sited to offer as much solitude as possible, with minimal disruption to the surroundings. In spite of being nestled in the woods, no trees were cut to prepare this relatively accessible site. We believe that it still offers a very tangible sense of wildness and solitude. This is a small 8×12' off-grid tiny home located on 41 secluded acres accessible by ATV/snowmobile trail. Amenities include bunkbeds (full/twin), woodstove with cook top, composting toilet, and solar power. Well nearby with hand pump. Stream frontage on-site, maybe 1000 feet from the tinyhouse. There are various wild edible plants on-site in-season, including raspberries and hazelnuts among others. Reasonable sleeping space for 2 adults (together) and 1 child (separately) inside. This is the perfect opportunity to explore on a budget and test out your wilderness skills! The Adventure Begins Here... Camp Wild at Bobcat Rock is on 21 Acres of sloped, unspoiled woodland. There is a small brook that runs through the property and a seasonal run-off during heavy rain. There is a stone wall that borders the north end of the property. Land around the property is protected so there are many birds, ponds and streams. Hiking trails are right outside your door. Natural water sources do not have spigots. If you choose to use the natural water source for drinking, all water should be treated! This is a wilderness area. The TREE TENT is 13x 13 x 13 and sleeps 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 small children. The tent is 4 feet off the ground. You will need to lift yourself into it. Please remove shoes before entering the tent. THERE ARE NO AMENITIES This is a dry campsite. There are no showers or toilets. There is an outhouse and a 5 gal PROPANE shower. (You will need a small canister of propane). 5 gallons of water is provided. There is a very large pot for boiling water if needed. There is a fire ring with a grill, a picnic table, 2 reclining camp chairs, a Gazebo, and a Tree Tent. A trolly is provided to carry your belongings as it is a short hike uphill to the site. No cooking or sleeping supplies are available. You must bring your own bedding, cooler, cooking utensils, wood and small propane canister. (We have sleeping bags if you forget your own and a spare mattress for the gazebo upon request). ***PLEASE LEAVE NO TRACE AND TAKE YOUR TRASH WITH YOU*** It is recommended to arrive before dark on your first night of camping. It started years ago my sister and I stayed in a yurt at a campground in Oregon. That was it. I was hooked so I got one. There is something magical about staying in a round structure in the trees. My love of nature and comfort drove me to create this special place to be able to share it with others. My TreeYurt is a platform built high in the trees so it essentially like a treehouse but with a yurt instead. It is located in the back part of my property surrounded by woods. In the spring there is a small stream running nearby and soon to come a bridge over to the fairy village. The land is somewhat sloped yet comfortable. There are apple orchards nearby and many hiking trails a short distance away as well as Portland a mere 15 minutes. The kitchenette has a small fridge a coffee maker a cook top with two burners pots pans utensils and kitchen towels as well a propane grill outside. There is a wood stove for heating in the winter as well as a monitor heater that makes it very cozy for chilly nights. The yurt is insulated so it is a great year round glamping adventure. I provide fire wood for the wood stove inside but the camp fire wood for the outdoor fire pit is $5 per bundle. The outhouse has a dry flush toilet and instructions at located in the yurt and out house. There is no running water although recently added an outdoor sink for the warmer months is available for use for dishwashing and a bit of cleaning up. I provide gallons of drinking water and dishwashing water for the colder months inside the yurt with dish tubs sponges and soap.

No electricity, no plumbing, no wifi. Good cell service. Composting toilet and water tank for use inside cabin. Gas grill and firepit with tripod grate outside for cooking options. Two large picnic tables for outdoor dining. Truly a magical place. The campsites and secluded 2 bell tent sites are hidden away along Webb Brook, sitting among the pines and hardwoods. A port-a-potty available for all guests' use. Almost 9 acres of land to explore and discover, as well as Graham Lake just a walk away.

Lovedy's Land at Nubbin Corner.

With some landscaping it became clear that beautiful campsites were forming. My father is 78 years old. The last thing he ever thought he would be doing with his retirement is jumping back on his excavator. Can't keep a good man down. Now here we are. Father and daughter. One day my children. 3 large tent sites and two camper sites. Future cabin and seasonal RV sites. A brook runs through the property but dries up after June. There is a small pond with rock stairs. Deer and turkey are frequently seen. Peace and serenity. This property does not offer complete seclusion. You will see other campers if all 3 sites are occupied. There is spacious distance. What this location offers is that it is centrally located to mountains, oceans, lakes,concert venues, restaurants, nightlife, shopping and antiquing. Traveling to NH and Massachusetts is a day trip. A few hours and your in central Maine. Cross the border into Canada. So much to explore or just relax. Stay a few nights or stay the season. 2023 is off to a great camping season. Already meeting new campers. Hopefully I'll see some familiar faces from 2022. A few upgrades. There is an outside water faucet, an outlet and an outside shower...hot and a privacy fence. There is a bathroom/shed that contains a bucket compost toilet. A compost bag and shavings/leaves/moss provided. The tent sites are off grid with a few conveniences. Please view my camper rental if you are seeking another experience. Goats are coming. Yes goats. Not until fall though. The frog pond population continues to grow. A neighboring town is finding 3 legged frogs in their ponds. Apparently caused by a parasite. Let me know if you find any.

Overview of Campsite: Nearly 20 acre forest land available for rent by private parties looking to camp. Complex includes: - 20 ft. yurt furnished with full size futon, a twin loft bed, and another twin sized futon - Plenty of additonal space inside the yurt for camping cots, sleeping pads, etc. - Additional cleared space for pitching tents - Short trail from the campsite to Chicken Mill Pond where we have a 2-3 person canoe and two single-person kayaks available for use - Private driveway with parking area for 2-3 cars - Direct trail from the parking area to the main camping space - Longer loop trail that offers a more scenic walk through the forest and eventually leads to the campsite - Comfortable outhouse with a composting toilet - Fire pit in the camping area - Covered outdoor kitchen with grill and prep table - Kitchenette inside the yurt with sink, bar, and counter space Activities nearby: -5 minute drive from Francis B. Woods Preserve/Frenchman Bay Conservancy, a 438 acre forest with miles of trails that sit above the Maine coastal islands. Offers unbelievable hiking trails and beautiful views of coastal Maine. -5 minute drive to Bartlett Maine Estate Winery, Maine’s oldest winery. Option to take the canoe across Chicken Mill Pond and walk from there. -14 minute drive to the Schoodic Marine Center, where you can take a ferry to Bar Harbor for the day and catch a ferry back. While on the boat, look for wildlife such as seals, harbor porpoise, bald eagles and other waterfowl. Arriving in Bar Harbor, enjoy shopping, restaurants and other in town activities. -Cycle down the 29 mile Schoodic National Scenic Byway. -17 miles to Schoodic Peninsula and the famous Schoodic Point, where you can catch amazing ocean views. -5 minute drive to Prospect Harbor Lighthouse. Places to eat: The property is located a short drive from scenic Winter Harbor, which has a variety of locally owned restaurants. It's also only about a 25 minute drive to Ellsworth, which also has multiple eating options and grocery stores. Bar Harbor is only about 40 minutes from the property as well, which boasts some amazing eateries, shops, and other activities. NOTE: This site is fully off-grid and requires walking approximately 3-4 minutes on a forest trail from the parking area to get to the site. All equipment must be hand-carried in. There is limited power and potable water. Guests should be prepared for an off-grid yurt experience. Bedding and cookware also are not provided. WELCOME to Happy Hippie Lane Maine! Get your "groove" on or hang loose here on a precious little island with a big bridge just off route one in the heart of Midcoast. Hundreds of guests report the perfect balance of upbeat fun and chill time and call our place and hospitality "magic", "amazing" and "holy guacamole!". I have a two night minimum but will consider a single night reservation occasionally with a $20 additional fee. We have been hosting guests for 10 years at our eclectic, nature filled, good vibe overflowing, quirky lodging. Come and expect some interaction with host, to your comfort, and possibly bumping into another guest or two as you are mesmerized by the evening call of the hermit thrush on route to the campfire or spontaneously planned lobster/vegan/other bake in the back yard. Enjoy great conversation at the fire and burn a few marshmallows. Bend your ear for that haunting barred owl or coyote call. I support your relaxing beverage or two at the fire or around the property but this definitely not a party place. We will consider your pet with $35 fee and a conversation ahead of time. We have a jack russell and black cat so have to protect their interests and those of other pets and guests coming as well. Your pup must be on leash at all times unless/until we decide they are safe, others are comfortable and that it works for all to have them run free at times. Thanks! Lounge on stunning porch busy with wildlife, walk or bike a woodsy trail, nod out or challenge your son to a game of tetherball. Just minutes from busy Route One, this lovely island oasis is convenient to local favorites like Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Popham Beach, Reid State Park, the quaint towns of Bath and Damariscotta and all the midcoast has to offer. You can find yoga, pottery, preserves to explore and organic beer on the island as well. Ask Cary about signing up for a reiki session, foraging/wild edibles walk and nibble, a workshop on kombucha with your own "scobie" to go, arts and crafts to include tea cup bird feeders and solar bird baths, a boardgame, a lead road ride or a mountain bike rental to explore gravel here. Continue the "community story" by adding a line or more, add your touch to the hippie bus with a little paint....so much more. Cary loves to help you plan your day based on your interests. Ask about lobster or vegan backyard dinners (additional price), her famous blueberry muffins and fresh veggie frittatas at breakfast with enough interest and other "extras" on the property. You can rent a bicycle, enjoy a relaxing, healing Reiki session, or inquire about a workshop on a variety of nature based subjects or an art or craft activity. You will LOVE this spot. See you soon! 15 Mile Stream Primitive Campground

When you arrive at the big posts and posted signs keep driving through because you are almost there. Originally settled in the early 1800's with a few house's, barn's and an old one room schoolhouse. A few foundations are still visible along with a couple old dug wells and dumps with old bottles. We now own 365 acres that was named Texas Four Corners (no one knows why) in the middle of 1,600 undeveloped acres with the closest inhabited house from our property is over a half mile away. 15 Mile Stream runs thru the property. 16 miles to Common Ground Fair in Unity. 15 miles to Waterville and 28 miles to Belfast.
