The area is rich with history-Lewis and Clark; French Canadian trappers and their Lakota wives established French Villages; Mormons came through here on the way to Utah; Jesse James played cards. Waubonsie State Park is close with hiking trails and seven miles of Horse trails. At night you can use a portable corral to have your horse close. But! wanted it close to town so I do not have to travel far and still be close to the city attractions. The lodge backs up to a large hill--called the Loess Hills. Many deer, raccoon, possum and turkey call it home and so does a few pets of mine to include a mini horse and goat. They just love being adorned by new people. There are small lakes in the surrounding areas and Lewis and Clark parks with beautiful views.

Safe, but not difficult to get to from interstate without having to drive through neighborhoods etc. Convenient bike trail so can get to airport or downtown for college world series but also a few blocks from the river for boating. 110 v extension cord from house for lights, but not enough amperage for large a/c units (30A +). Possible rental of bike, kayak, SUP.

We purchased our acreage in 2016 from extreme hoarders. Somehow we were able to look beyond all the junk, inside and out, and see the potential of this property. We have been fixing it up mostly on our own and it's still not perfect but we are proud of all the work and progress we’ve made so far! The front part of our property, close to our house is a garden, fruit trees, berry bushes and chickens. You can help yourself to a few garden goods. NOTE: our chickens are free range but we coop them up in their run when we know guests are bringing their pets. On the back of our property is where you will find all our hipcamps. There is a swimming and fishing pond with lots of fish, frogs and other water creatures, all safe to swim with. We are on migration path of many birds you may encounter during your stay, like; blue heron, cranes and ducks. During the warm months help yourself to the beach toys, paddle board, kayak and paddle boat. We simply ask you care for them like you would your own. There is also a large playground area in the trees, close to our house. Please don't hesitate to check it out and let your kiddos play on it!

Though it’s a small city, Omaha has a big history. In the 1800s, Lewis and Clark met with Native American people here on their way west. Today, modern adventurers camp along the Missouri River and Nebraska prairies. From any local campsite or RV park, it’s easy to hike, bike, boat, and fish. Start your RV or tent camping trip at Platte River State Park; or, book a glamping cabin. Hike or bike miles of trails, or launch your canoe in the river. Just to the east, Louisville State Recreation Area has 283 campsites with picnic tables. Kids love the floating playground, and paddlers float in peace—there are no motors allowed. North of Omaha, sleep next to the water at Glenn Cunningham Lake. Nearby, you can hit the links at local golf courses. Toward Lincoln, Eugene T. Mahoney State Park is a family favorite. Cool off in the aquatic center, take a trail ride, or relax in a park cabin. In the winter, try ice skating or cross-country skiing.
