Blocks from Historic Downtown PC

1 site · RV1 acre · Panama City, FL
Just minutes from all this beautiful area has to offer, you’ll find Watson Bayou just steps away, 2 boat slips within a few blocks, historic downtown Panama City less than a mile away, Tyndall Air Force Base a short 9 miles away, and Panama City’s beautiful beaches just a quick 12 miles away. Whether you’re visiting for vacation or just passing through, you’ll have all the comforts of home and more in this little slice of Millville. If quiet and serene, and close to much of what makes Millville so special is what you’re searching for, look no further. Built in 1922, "Millville Mansion" (named by my mother's family) is a quaint cottage. The RV space is located behind the home, on a concrete pad where the garage was located prior to Hurricane Michael. Though historic, we love our little neighborhood and have made many amazing memories here throughout the years, and are happy to share it with you. Guests can enjoy our screened-in porch (shared with guests of the home as well), a spacious back deck, and ample private parking for multiple vehicles and a boat (bring your own boat). You’ll also have access to the shared laundry room located outside the house just off the back porch. *Please note this property is still undergoing some minor repairs as a result of Hurricane Michael. While structurally sound and fully functional, there are still some minor repairs/finishing work/landscaping being done. The immediate surrounding areas sustained a substantial amount of damage as well. While everyone is working diligently to make repairs, many areas including our little historic neighborhood are still in pretty rough shape. These restoration efforts do not affect the property’s home-like feel and will have no effect on your stay. We simply want to be completely transparent prior to your booking. THE SPACE When you arrive (check in is anytime after 2pm), you’ll be greeted by a covered front porch that overlooks the historic Millville Cemetery. You will see the concrete parking area and gravel parking area at the rear of the driveway where you can set up your rig and outdoor living spaces as you desire. In the morning, mosey out onto our expansive deck and enjoy your morning tea or coffee. This extra space is shaded by one of our gorgeous historic oak trees. There is ample private parking, you're welcome to park your tow vehicle, extra vehicle and/or bring your boat! There is so much to see and do in and around Millville including visiting our local farmer’s market, hiking on our beautiful trails, visiting our gorgeous beaches, taking in local art, dining at delicious local restaurants, or fishing off our magnificent coast. Whatever your reason for visiting, we hope you’ll find relaxation and fun at our little getaway. *up to 2 loads of laundry are included with your stay if you are also paying for hookups. Additional loads are $5/load. BIG RIGS please see the guidebook for the suggested way to get to the property!

The best camping near Deer Lake State Park guide

Overview

About

If you're looking for an unforgettable outdoor experience, consider a Deer Lake State Park camping trip. Nestled within its boundaries is a coastal dune lake that shares the same name as the park itself. These lakes are a rare sight worldwide, with the United States boasting their presence solely along the Gulf Coast. As you explore the park, you'll be greeted by a stunning array of flora. Southern magnolias, golden asters, woody goldenrod, and scrub oaks paint a vibrant picture against the backdrop of the coastal dunes. But it's not just the common plants that make this place special. Rare species such as Gulf coast lupine, spoonflower, pitcher plants, and Curtiss' sandgrass thrive here, with the latter boasting one of the largest populations in Florida. It's a botanical wonderland waiting to be discovered. But it's not just the plants that will captivate you during your camping adventure. Deer Lake State Park is also a haven for wildlife. Keep your eyes peeled for splashes of color from summer wildflowers, as well as the many species of resident and migratory birds and butterflies that call this place home. It's a symphony of nature, with each creature adding its own melody to the chorus. So, whether you're a seasoned camper or just starting your outdoor adventures, a Deer Lake State Park camping trip promises an experience like no other. Immerse yourself in the beauty of the coastal dunes, marvel at the rare plants that flourish here, and let the sights and sounds of nature enchant you. Your next camping adventure awaits in the heart of this natural paradise.

When to go

The best time to visit Deer Lake State Park is during the spring and fall when the weather is mild and the natural flora is in full bloom. Summer offers warm beach days, though it can be quite hot. Winters are cooler and less crowded. Avoid hurricane season, from June to November, for safety reasons.

Know before you go

  • Check the weather and warning flag signs for safe swimming conditions before heading to the beach.
  • Remember, pets are welcome but must be leashed and are not allowed on the beach or boardwalk.
  • Accessible amenities are available, ensuring all visitors can enjoy the park's natural beauty.
  • Bring exact change for the honor box as the park requires a small entrance fee.
  • Plan your visit between 8am and sundown, as the park is open 365 days a year during these hours.
